- As part of our #Appreci88ion gift, Dale Sr.'s Monte Carlo that he drove to his 1st championship is now on permanent loan to Dale Jr. on behalf of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame & the State of Alabama.
Dale Jr. even got to wheel his dad's No. 2 Monte Carlo around for a few laps on Friday of our 2017 fall race weekend!
Back when stock cars were stock, look at that smile on Jr
I wouldn't say exactly stock. But very close and a heck of a lot closer than today. Now you can't buy anything on a Nascar from the dealership not even the sticker's lol 👍✌️
You right about that these new cars look and run like shit
Ain't nuthin stock about a stock car
Amen!
Well, he is riding his father's first season car.
That big ole smile
Reminds me of someone !!!
Dale your Dad’s in there with you! The car looks awesome! One almost forgets just how big those old cars were compared to the race cars of today.
Now that is a stock car, so primative looking inside the cockpit, compared to todays stock cars. You can see how they could, and did get hurt a lot easier back in the day.
White Knuckle racing... the best kind
When Nascar drivers were still real men. Not 5'4" soyboys
I wouldn’t be able to contain myself. 1ST GEEEEEEAAAARRR 2ND GEEEAAARRR.....
It’s geared too high to do that for this track… I tried it… lol
And look at that old school smile on his face.
He knew Dale was watching him.
Alabama loves ya Junior!
Dang, a classic NASCAR racer, back when it really was NASCAR! So cool seeing Dale Jr ride one of his father's old school cars before the iconic black one.
Wow. There is a memory. I worked for Terry Labonte during those days. Hated that car back then but love it now.
The man is still with us all
LOVE THIS YOUNG MAN AND HIS DAD GOOD TO SEE HIM REMEMBERING THE INTIMIDATOR. #3 REST WITH THE ANGELS SMILING TONIGHT WITH THE STARS.
I remember my dad taking me to bristol races in late 1970's and seeing Dale sr driving the blue and yellow wrangler sponsored race car. Him an Darrell Waldrip in that Gatorade green and white race car were swapping paint all race.
Haven't seen that car in a bit loved them old Monte Carlos !
My car of choice when I raced on 3/8 oval dirt tracks. Love that body style.
Those are Buick reagals they look like Monte Carlos but that’s a Buick
They used the olds 442s and cutlasses on the big tracks expect the 79 Dayton 500
the old 2 car his dad Dale SR had back into the days before his was born , why not it is with his dad Dale SR had be with him now, good bay Dale SR
I’m sure that this will become one of his prized possessions and makes him feel close to his father when he’s in or around it. What an amazing gift to an amazing driver/person with in my opinion a father that is a legend and the best nascar driver ever.
David Pearson was the best.
@@johnlaws9853 that’s why I said in my opinion. If you asked 50 fans who the best driver was you’d probably get 25-30 different answers.
Your all wrong. Neil bonnet or cale Yarbrough or or Richard petty are much better
@@edwardnulton7228 true statement
Awesome to have a good time with old time racecars with a real hero.
That was AWESOME! Im so glad he took a lap with it! Wish he'd gotten on it, for another one too!
Too cool. Wish he opened it up more 💯
They probably didn't give him a helmet so he wouldn't lol
Really awesome of Talladega to do that for JR. As a North Carolinian I rest well knowing some of the very best in Nascar history have came from NC as well. It means something especially when North Carolina has nothing else to root for lol ✌️👍
That’s gotta be a really really cool feeling!
Glad I was there too see this is was badass watching Dale Jr drive that car around dega
Me living on Orlando, I would go to Daytona alot to watch Dale race
And that is a real honest-to-god stock car none of the crap they run nowadays.
Just imagine him in his racing suit ripping that thing round the track.
I'm bout positive he wanted to do it as well
@@johnathonburrell9265 Ah man, I really wanted to see him drop it so bad. Had the volume up and everything. But then i realized the best part is hearing jr laugh... That got me 😂 ❤💯
I would like to drive that to work one day. 25 miles on I-10. Goodyear to Phoenix.
I sure miss those days. My favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt Sr and he was the best driver in my book and no one else will replace him.
Wow that sounds good...
When NASCAR had relevance to both fans and factories. It will never be as good as it was.
Great to see theses vintage race cars prowling on tracks.
Love to see more of them and their drivers. 👍🇺🇸🏁
What an awesome gift!
That's BADASS
Stopped watching NASCAR after Sr. Passed... He Was NASCAR!
That is so COOL to see JR in his Dad's true grassroots Race Car. Thanks for this video jars a lot of great memories. 🤗
Now that's a proud son ...
Jr is a cool dude.
That, my friends, is a real Nascar stock car.
I'm so happy for you June bug.Your a class act forever a Earnhardt fan 3# 8# 88
Nice
Awesome
Anyone else they'd be hollering safety but the entitled one hangs his arm out the window. Hahaha.
Bad ass right there......and I STAY LISTENIN TO THE DANG DALE JR DOWNLOAD!
I wonder who's trailer he pulled by and was laughing out of joy with
The only thing longer than the hood on that Monte Carlo was the bill on that white hat……………………………
Must be nice I got a thank you when I retired
The pass in the grass.
This is so cool.
Cool car, history right there, seems bit light under the hood, congrats!!
Cool
Dales got the suit from this race his dad wore
I was waiting for him to open it up a little bit
Lvv.that.car..he..does..2
I wanted to see him open it up
BAD ASS
Super dope
Only time you will see Jr ever drive a Ford.
Dad was riding with him on the passenger side
What engine was in the bay??!! Sounds damn good 😂
Back when it wasn't just sheet metal and a roll cage
Talladega: Imagine today's drivers walking out to their cars and they go to step into them only to see the inside guts of this car like some sort of time warp but the outside looks like today's cars. That would be a nice dirty trick huh?
TO THINK BACK IN THE DAY WHEN THE DRIVER'S WHEELED THESE BIG OLE CARS WITH SEATS OUT OF VANS MODIFIED FOR RACING, HALF THE ROLLBARS OF TODAY'S CARS, AND LOTS OF PLAY IN THE STEERING BOX.....MAKES YOU REALIZE THESE WERE REAL MEN. SURE MISS DALE IN THE WORST WAY.
Nice red shoes buddy.... hope that's a coincidence.
That's what cars sounded like before restricter plates
Wonder what jr felt about actually racing in it ! Just think that car and original motor could pull out and pass today’s car probably not in a turn tho !
8 people must be jeff Gordon fans
he got something from his dad
Where's the legendary black 3 car?
I’d be, give me a helmet I’m goin for it!
How is a "LOAN" A gift??
Where's the REED Cams sticker?
O THE LONG BODY!!!!
JR = HOMEWRECKER...... KINDA LIKE ON THE TRACK I GUESS. HE'LL NEVER BE A FRACTION AS GOOD AS HIS DAD WAS. RIP SR.
I know they really never shift but good God the shifter throw on that car is looooooong
2 for Jr. ?
The only time I know this car is when Dale Earnhardt drove it in the 1979 Daytona 500.
This is a Chevrolet, in 1979 dale ran buick and Oldsmobile at Talladega and Daytona. He also did in 1980. Lot of people don't know this but it's a fact. Look it up.
I'm droppin the hammer! No yo not!
To the one person who commented whether these cars compete with the new cars technically they could but most newer drivers wouldn't know how to handle these type cars the only ones that would have an idea or the dirt track drivers driving these cars or something of a bygone error
Take the radios out of the car that would find out who can really drive. Only spotter has one way radio for safety.
Who are the Three "BUTT PIRATES" that Thumbs-Down this???
Good to see a non cookie cutter car.
what the hell does permanent loan mean.. you either gave it to him or didn't..
seeing the old #2 is like his old men old car Dale SR had back into the days before his had it too, like his and his dad was get to race it too, thinking i saw his dad happy too, 🌋🏕
Although I became an avid NASCAR fan since the very first televised race, I'm having a hard time remembering the year that NASCAR passed the rule to eliminate big block motors & forced the teams to switch to small blocks with a maximum of 358 cu in. I also don't know the exact year this race car was originally built & raced. 1979? '80? So I was wondering if this car has a big block, or small block.
Is that his dad's original car he drove at Talladega???
It looks big and slow as hell now compared to to today's cars
Probably a fair bit faster in actuality
Death on 4 wheels. Cool ass car....but death ☠️☠️💀 on 4 wheels.
How the f*** did anybody survive any kind of crash back in the day with those cars?
Experience and above all luck
@@jackthorton10 especially when you think that the cars today really aren't that much faster than those cars.
Also those cars were much larger. Many got hurt in them but ran the next race regardless.
Cars were made from tougher material then. Love older cars myself. I'd drive that Monte with pride :)
Why red shoes???? Who wears red shoes??
Who doesn’t ???
I wear red shoes, and NJPW referee Red Shoes wears red shoes.
Dale does...that's who.
Confident people wear red shoes.
Or folks that don't give a f**k, like me.
The Angels, The Angel's want to wear my red shoes.
I stopped watching nascar the day restrictor plates were mandatory....that's not racing..
I know what his dad brought to the racetrack and he is rightly a legend and honored member of racing legends. That being said, Dale Jr might be a wonderful person but he was not a good driver and never did anything noteworthy other than win Daytona and make a few wrangler and mt.dew commercials
keep driving your couch and stop being so jealous
@@scottshields8334 jealous of what exactly! His lack of victories
