I think final fantasy needs to drop its obsession with graphics and innovation. They should look to Persona/Metaphor for inspiration not God of War and Devil May Cry.
I think its good they are being quiet. It helps build anticipation for their bigger games. They can also appropriately plan a marketing strategy for their titles, instead of rapid firing a bunch of games with little to no marketing.
So this is what makes me LOL people hated the XIII trilogy I really loved it i got the platinums for all 3, but when its not available people are like where is it And i for one agree it should be avaliable on playstation to play along with some more xbox 360 games as they were pretty great too
There is a rumour that Square Enix are doing a Square Enix Presents event in February 2025 which make sense if the switch 2 is getting announced early 2025. I just hope we hear about a FF9 remake. I’ve been invested in the FF9 remake rumour for 5 years now lol 😢

All of this kind of sounds like Square-Enix wishes to port games like XVI, VII Remake and Rebirth to other consoles, but I have I think they're still bound by the exclusivity contract they made with Sony Still, if Final Fantasy IX's remake gets announced early next year, I think it'll be multiplatform
1 thing that I expect and waiting from Square is to release a remastered version of 13 trilogy on modern consoles.... All FF games are available why not 13.... For now all I want from them is this
I don't think it would sell well. I tried to go back and play XIII again, because I hated it the fist time, and its exactly what I remembered hating about it. You just run down corridors to the end of the game with a very mid tier dull story line with very whiny and over dramatic unlikable characters. XIII is not worth spending time and money on for what probably won't be much of a return financially. I know it has a cult followings but the cult ain't big enough to pay the bills on this one.

Only speaking for myself, I hope this leads to a break from the massive 3D action era at Square Enix. It’s become quite formulaic, and I’d like to see them go back to their roots and focus on smaller, more unique games.
They literally made like 5 games in this style over the past 10 years, please be serious. Why aren’t they allowed to get a chance to refine this style and make it better, when there’s literally hundreds of turn based FF games? No one but the super old fanbase from like 20-30 years ago wants all the games to be turn based again. Square doesn’t even make the best turn based games anymore, Atlus does it much better. Let them refine the FF7R action/Command style further, that’s the better sweet spot.

I bought Xbox Series X recently without knowing I could still play my Lightning trilogy Xbox 360 discs on it thanks to the backwards compatibility and its more enhanced now on the series X. Playing FF13 currently and loving the graphics. ☺️

Something FF9 would make sense for 25th Anniversary, but i reckon Tactics Remaster would make more sense as I'd imagine it would be 'Easier' to translate it to every platform including the Switch :D
I highly doubt they have any game set for release this year, considering ever since FF15 they're taking practically a decade to develop them. The only way I see it happening is if the Switch 2 does launches this year, best case scenario they have a launch title for it, but it's most likely they have just ports at the ready of that's the case.
There are lots of games from Square Enix out now. Fantasian Neo Dimension, Dragon Quest HD2D Remake… of course SE isn’t the only one. There is Atlus with Refantazio, and then YS Nordics with Nippon Ichi Software. Nintendo has Mario and Luigi Brothership come out. PS5 has Palwrold and on it I’ve gotten Black Myth Wukong also. I got the Elden Ring Update on my XB1X. That game isn’t new but it’s new to me. I rarely get a chance to download or update stuff but I say all this to say there are a lot of good RPG’s coming out but your gonna have to look to others than just square Enix. Those AAA titles take 10+ years to make too. While we wait what are we gonna play? I like RPG’s from a lot of different devs so I have plenty to play until the AAA’s come out.
I’m pretty sure that they will announce next year a remake of Dirge f Cerberus for 2026 I hope to see ffxiii trilogy and ffxv remastered but that doesn’t seem to happen anytime soon
I would like to see final fantasy 13 remade as a turn based open exploration game with meaningful side content. But they won’t do it because no balls. Square seems to think making everything action oriented is an “evolution” despite being outdone by Atlus over and over again in terms of impact and game quality. Sales are similar but with much higher budget games.
It doesn't need to be turn based. The best option is to turn the trilogy's combat into what it was in XIII-3 and make any tweaks to make it even better. That was one of the best battle systems in the entire series

Man i have been playing and loving SE games since they were both separate companies and one thing I have noticed in the past ten years is that NO rpg developer, western or japanese, is scrutinized and criticized as much as SE is. I'll see universal praise for games that are mid at best just because they are turn based while any time SE does something action based its based years before it even releases just for daring to not be turn based. Two years ago, "SE makes too many games", this year "where are the games" and I honestly just feel like saying shut the fuck up to the whole gaming community. Do y Who cares? Just wait for the games. They will come eventually and you'll all bash them anyways. lol

Unfortunately, Square Enix treats FFVIII like an unwanted child that they want to get rid of. As much as I want a remake, Square Enix will continue to ignore FFVIII. Back then, FFVII came out for the PS4, then FFIX and then X and XII, FFVIII was skipped and only because fans wanted it, an FFVIII Remastered came out last, which was unfortunately a bit heartless, Squall was simply given his Dissidia hairstyle and the textures were sometimes still in PS1 pixel graphics. For the 25th anniversary of FFVIII, nothing came from Square Enix except an interview where the developers all said they were against a remake and nobody wanted to make a remake. After the FFVII Remake, Square Enix is skipping FFVIII again and there are already rumors going around that FFIX will get a remake. So it will be another 20-30 years before Square Enix makes a remake of FFVIII.

I suppose the game is still in development, but part of me thinks Horii and his team at Armor Project are waiting for Nintendo to reveal the Switch's successor so they can announce the game is being developed for the system, since mainline Dragon Quest games are always developed for the most successful console in Japan, and despite the Switch's success, what they probably have in mind for DQXII wouldn't be able to run on the regular Switch and they're not doing similar as to how they develop two versions of DQXI like they did 7 years ago. I believe Enix would like DQXII to be huge breakout title for the DQ franchise, so they'll have to release it on Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox and PC

Not sure why people are worried, we had FF16, FF7Rebirth, FF14 expansion in a period of 12 months - amazing games all of them. They probably making sure they don’t announce projects to early like Yoshida said they would stop doing. They will focus on releasing all titles on all platforms during 2025, and announcing new projects later. They need a better business case for their upcoming new FFs.
