- The Sony Spider-Man Universe might be the dumbest thing to ever hit cinemas. Madame Web is just the most recent in a string of stupid movies. Venom, Venom 2: Let Their Be Garbage and Morbius round out the awful film franchise. The cinematic universe has Spider-Man in the title, yet he never even shows up. That's probably for the best to save him the embarrassment. I rant on this mess for a good 20 minutes. Enjoy and subscribe!

It blows my mind that they aren’t killing some of these projects. I get making more Venom because they made money, but they think people want Kraven, Morbius, Madame Web, and freaking El Muerto with Spider-Man??? Talk about being out of touch
They are contractually obligated to release these movies to keep the Spider-Man IP
And how Sony keeps making these movies like we're still in the 2000s. I get that superhero movie peaked again during that time with the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, but they need to move on from that phase already.
Sony's live action universe has no right to exist. They are just throwing characters up on screen to try and have their own MCU and team up sinister six movie
All I got out of this Spidey universe is a big nothing burger. Sure the Venom movies were successful but everything else is failing. Amy Pascal promised us that Venom would be in the MCU but all we got are small insignificant cameos. Sony once said they were making a Black Cat and Silver Sable film. I could watch a film like that. Those characters are not really villains, more like adversaries to Spiderman. That idea was abandoned for unknown reasons. Can the studio make a Spider Gwen film? She's not Peter Parker but can do everything Spiderman does.
That would be common sense if they put reasonably good people to work on animated movies at least for the other variants of Spider-man like Spider Gwen and Spider 2099. Instead they waste their time putting out characters that are close associated with Peter Parker or that are way more fun to watch them fight Spider-man not generic trash characters or ruining of them like he said about Carnage in Venom 2. They should have made Carnage as frightening as possible through out the movie and build up to a near death fight between Venom and Carnage

This entire business model is predicated on tricking audiences (and MAYBE EVEN some of their actors) into thinking these are MCU movies.
Very well put. It's impressive hearing actors sign on that think these are part of the MCU. I have comments on the Madame Web video thinking it's made by Disney.

Carnage should've spanned multiple movies throughout venom and Spiderman... He should've been the Thanos of the Spiderman universe with the entire saga being an R rated adventure.
Sad thing is, there is legit potential in a Marvel/Sony adjacent universe. Problem is the characters that already exist don't' *ucking connect. Why isn't Venom in Morbious, or Morbius in Madame web? It's cringy on paper, but it doesn't matter. Just start building the brand.

The Sony Cinematic Universe or whatever stupid shit they want to call it absolutely sucks ass, they haven't released one good fucking comic book movie yet and yes I'm talking about Venom 1 and Venom 2 both suck ass and so did this movie and anything else they put out looks like shit literally the only one that looks cool because it looks rated R and extremely violent is craving the hunter but that's not even how his story really goes he's not a good guy. But Hollywood doesn't have real morals therefore they don't understand what villains are and they think the villains are the good guys so that's why Disney's been on a tear with all of their reimagining of Fairy Tail villains as good people just misunderstood because these are evil people so they can relate and empathize with the villains because they are villains

The Venom movies disappointed me with the very first movie. Tom Hardy did a great job playing Eddie Brock but I don't like what they did with Venom trying to make him this "Anti Hero" buddy cop nonsense rather than a supervillain as he should be. And the other symbiote boss in the first one is so irrelevant that I don't even remember the name of it.
The second Venom movie was even worse because they turned both Venom and Carnage into jokes.
So much wasted potential. ☹️

I just refer to this franchise as Sony's Bootleg MCU. Quality wise, your pretty much on the money. I think the 2 Venom movies are okay, probably guilty fun for me personally. Morbius kinda fits into that description as well. Madame Web...well, we already have the verdict.
Speaking of money, I think your also right that this franchise is dead soon. First 2 Venom movies made a lot, but the second is still a noticeable decrease. I think Morbius MIGHT have turned a profit. But even if it did, its barely anything and should still be considered a loss. Right now, Madame Web's chances of just matching its budget aren't looking so good

The marvels has the least threatening, low effort on all fronts villain that has ever been in an MCU movie. Contacts are as deep as her aesthetic gets. Wasn't her name Derp bean as well? She looks it.

Nothing against him as an actor but this now screws up any chance of a Tom Holland Spider-Man movie with Kraven as the villain as Johnson was already Quicksilver plus he's not using the Russian accent yet Russell Crowe playing his father is? Yet people like John Campea were giddy about that trailer. It's a slap in the face to the character.
When venom was announced that it was going to be a solo movie , I was like yeah that’s not gonna be good …

Sony wants to catch lightning in a bottle twice, while Marvel wants to do the grounded street level stuff. Its just so frustrating to see Sony be so cocky and think they know what they’re doing when they clearly aren’t (other than the animated movies those can be left intact they’re perfect the way they are)
It still boggles my mind that Sony didn't just make these movies with Venom, Morbis and Web all villains instead of this antihero bullshit. How the fuck are you going to make films where you want us to see these characters as antiheros in their own films but the moment Spiderman shows up (which I don't think he is) they are villains???
Madame Web is technically a Hero more than a villain in the comics.

Love love this review this is how I feel also about Sony pictures dealing with Spider-Man. I keep saying that Sony is the modern-day version of Canon films and they’re getting worse.
Count me right there with you, with the first venom, hoping it would flop. Back then people would call the critic's anti-fun if they didn't like it. I had no problem with venom, but what I did have a problem with was the message it would send to Sony. Plz we want more movies that remind us of early 2000 comic book movies. I shut my mouth when the spider verse movies came out, but anything but animation AIN'T IT chief.
Atleast there are 4 dceu movies people liked (mos, ww, shazam, tss). People don't like any of the sony mcu movies. (personally, i enjoy some parts of venom 1)

Helen mirren should have been Madame web if sony actually truly cared about this movie. That should have been the beginning of making this movie good along with a good story.
Given how bad Madame web and Morbius movies are there's a good chance sony might panic and make the Kraven movie PG-13. So that way more people can see the Kraven movie and make some money back but not much.
It's crazy because this movie should have had Spider-Man and the female characters and a true Madame web Helen mireen‼️‼️ introducing the live action spider verse etc. It's all the way crazy.

I know that you’re saying Charlie’s Angels had sex appeal to appeal to men, but I grew up on those movies and I LOVED them. They were so campy and fun. The outfits were sexy, but as a little girl I just thought they looked amazing. Hollywood thinks in order to appeal to women and girls they have to make the women dressed dumpy, but that’s… not what we want at all.

Sony should have copied exactly from the comics and the fox Spider-Man animated series. Spider-Man should faced kraven, scorpion, the shocker and rhino kingpin etc in separate movies.
The introduction of venom and carnage could have been a trilogy on their own and rated r. Then they could have made solo venom lethal protector movies fighting other symbiotes etc.
Morbious could have been a good villain for Spider-Man if sony had done it right.
And Madame web is only introduced as a mentor to Spider-Man and to introduce the spider verse to Spider-Man.
They also wasted a great character with Ezekiel in Madame web snh that could have been a trilogy with his character etc.
They could have also done the king of the symbiotes etc and his sword etc it's crazy how they fucked up and keep fucking up.

Well I'll save this i believe the kraven movie will be much better than Madame web. Now there's one possible way to save all these movies,the next venom movie has and i mean has to have Spider-Man in it the story line has been set for them to finally face off. Now in that movie it's an all out war!!! Vemon hates Spiderman so there should be 2 hours of massive fighting so bad that tom Holland's Spiderman dies. Remember the last Spiderman movie that spell he wish for opened up the chaos for the multiverse,even though Loki fixed it. Now the aftermath of tom Holland's spiderman dies .alert Madame web older version of her that she has to alert all other live Spider-Mans across the spider verse that movbius, vulture, kraven are coming to kill them off Garfield,and McGuire so now we tie in all Spiderman the previous two fight together to bring back Holland back to life and they all square out in the next Spiderman trilogy or what ever they decide what do. That's how you can do it .

I don't think the Sony Spider-Man Universe is that very bad to be honest. Is it good? No. But I liked Venom and (I know I am in the minority) I felt Morbius wasn't God awful. I found it somewhat entertaining. I didn't like Venom 2 and yes Madam Web was dull as heck. My point is to me 2 failed and 2 passed (Morbius barely barely passed) if we are going pass/fail. That still is far from amazing, but it isn't God awful.
