IS38 isn't big turbo, just saying.
And ditch those heavy AF wheels. You'll thank yourself later lol
The IS38 is a fine OEM+ upgrade though. I love mine, especially on E85. But I low key kind of wish I had gone Vortex Std. I don't need BIG power for my car and what I use it for. But a more reliable 400whp on pump would be nice. Rather than pushing the poor IS38 to it's ragged edge on ethanol to MAYBE scratch 400 wheel, if I'm lucky.

Fellow MK7 GTI owner here. Mine is a 2017 6spd base model. I’m the original owner. It’s currently IS38 custom Mabo tuned on WMI. Every mod you have plus a lot more. 161k miles on ODO. It still rips super hard.
Yes, DSG is quicker, but I do love my 6spd, especially when driving hard. But, after 4 clutch jobs, if I had to do it over again, I would get the DSG just for the sole purpose of setting it and forgetting it.
I run the R1 Concepts track performance slotted and drilled front rotors and pads. Been running them for over 2 years now, and they are very good! Way better than my crappy stock rotors and pads. I even tried EBC red pads on my stock rotors, and they sucked. R1’s are way better. Great deal for what you get. I need to get the rears too, as I only have the fronts.
Great vid and enjoy your GTI!

after 400hp you should do the clutches in the dsg also. so beating on stock dsg is risky still after hybrid turbo. upgraded clutches in the dsg is still better then blowing the stock and replacing the dsg trans for 12k. if i had manual id just throw the biggest clutch possible right away.

I have a 2016 Autobahn with the performance pack. I think the MK7 has the best interior because the plastics are carbon textured. The MK7.5 went to glossy black plastics that looks cheaper. I'm IE stage 2 right now. I prefer the stock location intercooler. It looks more stealthy but that's my personal preference. I'm trying to build a OEM + GTI. Also be carefully with FlexFuel. I ran E85 exclusively for a couple years and ran into an issue with my injectors sticking open. I think you want to run some regular 93 octain gas through the car every once an a while to lubricate the injectors.

What Y-pipes are you using? Link? I'm running the same setup you are on my 2016 GTI SE (40k miles) with the exceptions that I have the CTS Cat-back exhaust and am running a APR direct replacement intercooler with Unitronic charge pipes and Racingline R600 intake. The IS38 takes the car to a whole new level. With the IE IS38 tune it's ridiculous! If it was any more fun to drive, I'm sure they'd make it illegal. Love the low-key exhaust note it has too. Not obnoxious at all.

those wheels are heavy af. will pull much harder with a lighter wheel. im 2018 fbo tpc20 mpi having an issue with boost in top end of third at 32-33psi wondering if twinter cooler pipes might help. ive seen 471hp on my setup on 93 pump. wondering if im maxing out my fm intercooler good for 450hp. i get boost ripples top of third 6700-7200 31-33psi up and down till 4th then holds 32psi np.

I see that the R1 concepts doesnt have hooks on the backingplate, which secures the brakepad to the backingplate. How do you trust a «performance brake» that doesnt have this basic safety feature? Is it something else holding the material to the backingplate? Other than adheasion?
