kidult feels like a love letter to your younger self. these times, when you hit your 18-20's, people automatically brand you as an adult even though some of us arent even ready to be responsible yet-- we're too young to be a funtioning adult, and too old to be treated as a kid. burden and responsibilities are already passed to us even though we're not ready yet, bc we havent even experienced much of life so we're not sure if every decisions we make is the right thing to do or not. we're literally moving in trial and error, constantly checking and checking if we fucked up something precious in our life. in essence, this song is telling us that it's okay to both be a kid and an adult at the same time. we can cry when we feel sad, or be mature about situations and hide our hearts from our sleeves - both are okay, because we're humans and it's okay to fuck up things sometimes bc that's how we learn and we grow. it's telling us to stop hiding our real self, and for the kid inside our hearts to stay forever with us.

Idk why people think this song is about missing being a kid, its not its about embracing the youth that once had, what you learned from it and live with it , living like and adult and feeling like a kid, work hard like and adult and rest like a kid. Its about understanding that being an adult doesn't take away that you are a person who deserves love, healing and support. You never are too old to feel, being an adult is understanding that there is and will always be a kid inside you that needs to be protected and loved, a kid that will cry when life is hard because you are all humans with emotions

I also think one of the reasons why the lyrics is really good is bec. when cheol wrote this, he was in hiatus and writing this was his way to express his feelings. in dks part, "its okay, your world is precious, so precious. just as you are right now. stay here with me" just reminds me how special your childhood is.
i connect to this song because im honestly quite scared of growing up. it all seems a bit daunting to me and i just want to stay as a child forever. its frfr quite a big change.
"stay here with me" makes me really sad whenever i hear that line :(( it just reminds me both seventeen and carats will eventually have to grow up, and leave eachothers comfort. for me its like a way of seventeen telling us to stay with them forever. (as well as maybe not growing up too fast??)
"its okay, your world is precious, so precious" is a lyric i interpret about your childhood. cause its where people go through majority of their ups and downs, their own hardships and changes. i see this lyric as a way of seventeen comforting and assuring us we're worthy

this is my first time listening the song and reading the lyrics. i cried when dk sang in the first chorus. the lyrics speaks to me. as a 19 years old and a big sister to another 5 siblings, i really feel the need to mature faster when deep inside me, i want to enjoy my teenage year being a teenage and not being the "2nd mom" to my siblings. thank you, seventeen.

SEVENTEEN is amazing. This song has made me think of my beautiful parents and older brother. As a kid, my younger siblings and I were so blessed and so spoiled with love from them. So much love and care that even though we didn't have as much as others did, my siblings and I never once envied others. My immigrant parents came to U.S, forced themselves to learn enough english to navigate this messed up system set up against us, enough to pick up multiple jobs and shifts so they could feed us, forced themselves to pry away from their children when they were needed the most, unwillingly forced their oldest son to play an adult in the midst of growing himself, forced themselves to do many things they had no choice but to do, just so that my siblings and I can stand on this land today and focus on our privileged education instead of facing hardships like they did. My loving brother, who had been a mother and father figure to my siblings and I when my parents weren't home, had to give up on the thought of higher education, because he wanted to pass that privilege onto my sister and I. He stayed home so my parents would have someone to help them at home, while they sent us to college. Having graduated with my Bachelor's, I'm going to come back strong soon so that I can carry them on my shoulders. And I definitely didn't do it alone. SVT helped so much on the way. We comin back very strong very soon. I'm not gonna let them struggle anymore. This song has reminded me the reason why I'm still working so hard. i can't listen to this song in public without tearing up. i've been a fan of svt since mansae era, back when i was only in 9th grade, and now i'm about to graduate uni! i've grown up alongside svt and i've never really had the chance to look back at my younger self and see how much i've changed.
in your early 20s, you're suddenly hit with so many responsibilities that you've never been prepared for, and you're never given time to properly process your emotions too. when i first heard this song, i was crying so hard, especially after reading the lyrics. it felt like an old friend that i grew up with was telling me that it's okay to cry, it's okay to feel pain, it's okay to act let your inner child free sometimes - and this was the type of assurance i never got while growing up.

I started tearing up from this one question in my math classwork. It hurt me so much especially knowing that finals are coming up. I closed the book and decided to just sob quietly. I wanted comfort and i pulled up this song. Its comforted me so much. This song is special. I'm feeling pressured bcuz i didn't want to dissapoint my parents again and im incredibly scared and anxious for finals. When i listened to this, i enjoyed it and when the part where DK sings "gwaenchana", i understood that part from my definitely flawless korean skills lol, and it spoke to saying things like "its okay, and things will be fine. Its alright to cry" and those are the words i needed to hear the most. Im still here sobbing from math tbh, and i have to join a zoom meeting with my math teacher in a few mins. Im sorry for ranting off like this on the internet and for wasting your time, but if you actually did read this, you dont know how thankful i am. Aww.. i sort of understand what you're feeling. I've cried too many times this school year because of math, because I was never the person to understand how math works. svt's songs has always been about youth, i hope all their songs has been about their experiences and how they overcome it. it is touching that its like they are talking to us and comforting us about our struggles as an adult. this specific song, kidult, i have my own understanding of this song. for me, even though im reaching my adulthood still i want to have fun and enjoy my life and be free as kid. although we will all be an adult, i hope our innocence as a child will never fade. just like svt, though we've witnessed them grow as an adult and have reached all their goals, i hope we can all be playful as them until the end

I like it too! Like in together too! Seungkwan and dokyeom both are strong vocalists but woozi carries so much emotions while singing, especially in mellow songs. i think since he made most of the songs he knows what kind of sound or style he wants that's why i think i'm able to feel the emotions the most whenever woozi sings. Atleast for me :))

Update after one year. I finished high-school, gave up on college and moved 2000km away from home. Got a full time job now and studying to pay my taxes for college in another country.
