boxing basicsInteresting to see how different sifus practitioners interpret their art .As long as it effective who cares if it not traditional tradition.
I think Sifu Kong only demonstrates a hybrid mix of WC & JKD here. He pinpoints the edge of JKD over WC in some respects e.g. keep the same stance rather than shift stances when moving forward to attack. However, he seems to overlook/ignore the use of hip/waist in punching & kicking. As a result, a water down version of JKD punching & kicking is demonstrated here.
How is a punch not realistic? Because it wasn't a "wild hook" lol. Those are the most common and easiest to defend punches on earth.... learn tighter punches
HK Ip Man wing chun does not have raised heel footwork. I don't know which mainland wc would have raised heel, because it clearly goes against rooted structure, but if you say so, I'll take your word for it. Bruce has been filmed using raised heel and afaik, he never learned mainland wc. So clearly, he got that from boxing and it's a big difference from HK wc.
Its becuase no one can ever be bruce we all are ourselves in that we are our own reflection in our art form...personally for me i just take each artfprm n tweek it to im most comfortble take jkd interecptin fist or kick philosphy n u have ur own art form
his sifu sifu wong mention that his Jkd style is the combination of wingchun, boxing and Fencing. Bruce lee didn't change the style of straight punch because he believe that the fastest punch is bewteen point to point. also, During a combat, Bruce lee realized that wing chun foot work is not very flexible therefore he combine boxing foot work in to JKD
Jericho Huang It's true what you say, but Bruce practised too short Ving Tsun. (I think only 18 months), therefore if he'd practised it longer and more complete, maybe he wouldn't invent his JKD system... JKD IS basically Wing Chun/Ving Tsun with a little addings... And Ving Tsun footwork is "flexible"... Ving Tsun is very often not tought correctly, therefore people think it lacks in some points, or it doesn't work.
Lee learned Wingchun for almost four years, but he didn't learn the last set which is Biu Tze. he actually had learned a lot of traditional Chinese kongfu. therefore, he used to teach traditional chinese kongfu in Seattle. he developed JKD because his major in university was philosophy, it influenced LEE a lot, also he had a lot of real fight experience.
WC is all about relaxation, the moment you hit the target is the moment you relax your hands and arm ,like right after 0.1 second. so you can pull it back faster, then prepare for another punch. it can save a lot of energy. for some people WC punch look like powerless, but actually its not, they just don't really know this concept
If you have ever lived in and trained Mainland Chinese WC/VT, you know that there is no JKD in this video at all. I lived and trained in the Mainland 3 years. He is very good, but everything in this video is from one WC/VT style or another. It's not JKD. And none of it is even slightly modified from the original WC/VT.
Over the four decades after Bruce Lee's death, no breakthrough has been made by anyone in JKD. What is the philosophy of JKD? What is finite and what is infinite? I came across a comment on youtube pinpointing that BL shifts from a low stance in his first few Kung Fu movies to a high one in his last few - GOOD POINT! He is acclaimed as the father of MMA by some who refer to the fighting scenes in his last two KF films. We would discover more if studying all those fighting scenes meticulously.
For years, the link between WC & JKD has been exaggerated so much! No doubt Bruce Lee based a portion of JKD on WC e.g. the central line principle, but they are two different things. Sadly, people just focus on the techniques of JKD, esp. those mentioned in his early publications. His unique, western-style way of strength training and body building is always overlooked. Technically, to master JKD lead straight punch and front sidekick, one should have a powerful, muscular physique like BL.
Reefultra/hk ..It might be based on other arts but it looks like it has very little root or structure, more external qualities than internal structure.
No, you're wrong. He is definitely showing JKD, i.e, what Bruce did/taught as JKD, aka watered down wing chun 😁. Whether or not you find similarities between this and mainland wc is purely coincidental and irrelevant.
Modified crap. JKD is a second-rate system and this proves my point. If you really want to learn a REAL system, then learn TRADITIONAL wing chun, which is complete, not this crap.
This is a man who knows what he's doing.

Cantonese!! the original version, very GOOD! Thanks for the upload.
有料到,佩服江師傅!本人現在真正了解李小龍的功夫!

Please can you do more video!!!!
2:54 JKD's punch like that instead of like boxing hook punch
Awesome! Excellent demonstration.
please put subtitle
Best master because he is originally a wing chun master
Good but plesse put subtitle.
No, he is mainly talking about JKD - What Bruce lee kept and modified and the differences when compared to Wing Chun.
阿光仔你仲係咁樣諗 截拳道 概括嚟講就係叫做連消帶打 由思想開始 練就身體嘅一種投射反應從對手由思想意圖開始截擊 將對手嘅思路快速逆轉 將其扒低 整套概念都係個句{連消帶打}
Cc in English please!!!
Or translation
u need translation?? lol if u miss this by watch, no translation can help...
Punches used in the demonstrations are not realistic.
People throws boxing types of punches with combinations.
How do deal with them?
What he's doing here is not meant to simulate live combat, but to break down the mechanics of some of the defensive moves of Wing Chun.
How is a punch not realistic? Because it wasn't a "wild hook" lol. Those are the most common and easiest to defend punches on earth.... learn tighter punches

I don't deserve this gold.

Yes I know, we train it exactly ike you describe it. We let the arms bounce back :)
are you Russian?

Does anyone speak Cantonese? I'm just wonder what Sifu Kong Chi Keung is talking about.
He is explaining the similarity and different between jkd and wing chun
Looks like he knows his stuff. Subtitles please!!! would love to know what he's saying :)

Да ты битка оказывается. Спасибо тебе дорогой за твой вин чунь.
El wing chun es solo una de las ramas que conforman el jeet kune do

real talk!
just looks like boxing, not wing chun
wing chun is a form of Chinese kick boxing. it looks different than what you're used to seeing as wing chun because he actually gets it. haha
Cihan Cakal no, just boxing!
Cihan Cakal no its very different from boxing
JKD symbol looks like Tia Chi, but it does use Tia Chi as the base in concept. Its based on formless rules.
Reefultra/hk ..It might be based on other arts but it looks like it has very little root or structure, more external qualities than internal structure.

Subs please.
Looks very dangerous
Good for movie fight scene just like Bruce lee. Not for the real fight as it’s Hongkong and nothing honest about it
His stance is not wt
not so impressive...

JKD is simplied 'crap', because 'Boards don't hit back'.
