You should go to a competitive TKD dojang, not just a casual school. The competitive side is very unique in terms of certain body movements and mechanics. Most people have a fixed idea in their head of what TKD is, but it can be so different depending on the school and objective. Most people never see the fascinating and brutal side of its competition world.
Kevin, thank you for bringing Sifu Francis again, I love this guy's wisdom, skill, and humility. "Styles are dead, people are alive". "Best teacher is a good student and best student is also a good teacher". Beautiful.
Master Fong walked into my office to get a business license and I immediately knew who I was talking to as soon as he told me his name. Most high respect to Sifu Francis Fong!
@@williamsmith8790 There are many Asian with the last name Fong from my long career in government. Yes he told me his name but I did not know who he was until he told me what type of business he was opening which made me ask his first name.
Unfortunately if you want to keep the Asian arts relevant, this guy might be one step in the right and one step in the wrong direction. The point with Bruce Lee is that he didn’t feel the need to invoke the ativistic gods of ‘face’ in other words ‘giving face to’ (or not, not giving face to, if there are areas in the Chun which are good, which there are) Wing Chun, just because of a cultural idea. People might think that the opposite of face is something crushing and harsh, but that’s not necessarily true, is it? The idea that a Chunner will be ‘99 percent mental energies’ in the face of a half decent opponent is, I’m afraid Bullshido. This idea is supposed to be following the lore of Chan or Zen (and sometimes Tao) where many of these principles come from but it actually shows someone who follows nouveau Chan/Zen or Tao. Please try to understand this for yourself. Even the old style of elastic/ fascea training could be challenging. Yes meditative too, but by no means singularly easy from the bodies’ perspective (although there are medititive practices which are based around simple relaxation too)
Such great information from Sifu, please let him know how much his wisdom is appreciated. It's always a treat to have him on the channel. Thanks so much!
Such profound and insightful words from Sifu Francis Fong at the conclusion of the demonstration (11:00 min), where he elucidates the qualities of a good teacher. He emphasises that a true teacher should always remain open to learning from their students, embodying humility and a continuous quest for knowledge. This is a crucial reminder for all of us in the martial arts community. Thanks Kevin.
Man! I am glad that you are finding real martial arts masters to show this stuff. I have been saying for years that you can tell if a teacher is good or not at teaching when someone asks a tough question. And then, you can tell if they are going to be a great teacher when they are asked a question that they don't know the answer to. To a good teacher, and good student will reveal the teacher's ignorance and they can journey together to learn something new.
He’s so great! What he shared!!! His wisdom of the understanding of existence and experience is DEFINITELY key beyond simply learning/accumulating knowledge. THANK YOU for sharing this Kevin. 🙏🏾🙌🏾💪🏾
Kevin: I really enjoy your videos, because you always features the real moments of insight from great instructors. And I love how you always respond with astonished appreciation, even when you are seeing things that you already know.
Once back home in Atlanta I had the pleasure and honor to learn from Sifu! Anyone who's seen an Atlanta phone book understands their thickness! He demonstrated the sun / one inch punch on me! When a man of his size knocks a taller heavier man 12ft towards wall of old kwoon, that is power! Phone books went flying and me too lol! Many blessings Sifu, and thank you for the wisdom!🙏❤️🫂🐍
Excellent explanations, the training tip with clamping the pad under the arm is very clever to get emphasis on the hipp elbow connection. Mr. Fong seems to be a very knowledgeable and reasonable man, thanks for sharing.
One of my bucket list items is to be able to study under Sifu Fong for at least one class. I want to learn Wing Chun, and I know that I'd learn a ton with him
I love your teacher's way to perform Chi Sao very interesting it's not how I usually see it where it's very sticky. His way seems to be more act on the very second of contact with the arms. I've never been a fan of Chi Sao practice where we just stand there and turn the steering wheel. I love to act on moment of contact.❤️👍🙏
I love this. I wish Wing Chun schools trained with those chest protectors more. Constantly getting slammed in the chest with chi sau is not good for cultivating energy and reeks havoc on your body unnecessarily. Plus with the chest protector you can really experiment with the energy instead of injuring your partner or merely satisfying your ego. If that guy wasn't wearing it he would have been keeled over on the floor with the first hit. The whole iron shirt training is so unnecessary today. Plus, it won't help you when you get get hit in the neck, head, knees, or groin lol. Internal energy is key. great video Kevin.
Crazy (impressive) to see Mr. Fong steal partners spine balance with a DIRECT center attack. Like hes pushing through their spine structure from their chest with pure acceleration and alignment.
This is great. The moving in which the master is doing, he can apply the 1 inch punch follow through its all in the wrist and forearm in quick hip movements
I live in Guangzhou, China and I have studied Wing Chun here under Mai Gei Wong Wing Chun Chuen. The principles are so very much the same. My Sifu can create a lot of power, there's a lot genenerated in the feet too. Thanks for sharing.
What a Great actor in pain. Keeps coming back for more as though it's not pain. If it was real pain he would have tapped out already. What a masochist.
The form was clutch, can tell by the resonating sounds off the leather. Sure we have equating force coming in but those who've spent years hitting mitts and bags know. When you learn to connect verus a sloppy blow is awesome. Nice vid
He's definitely incredible. I wonder if he's passed this knowledge on to any of his students? Meaning, if any of his students can do this. Amazing martial artist!
F=MA Whereas M=density x volume and A=distance/time. Density is synapse from the mind which you control muscle contraction right at time of impact. Flexibility allows faster acceleration without requiring longer traveled distance. Combination of density and acceleration yields greater impact force.
Correction, A=distance/time^2. Rather than just considering mechanical force, maybe consider mechanical power, i.e. kinetic energy delivered per unit time by the punch?
Love this! There’s a lot of bullshito around so I always thought those videos of Taichi masters pushing people lightly and sending them flying was staged nonsense too. Until I trained with this Taichi master. He was in his 70s, a full head shorter than me. He would tap my elbows and my knees would buckle. It was mind blowing. It took me a long time to understand that he was able to leverage the internal structure of my body to transfer force, so even a small amount of pressure created a big effect. I was basically falling over myself.
Master Fong= Supreme wisdom....his student took a beating but was well trained and had great technique also....kudos to Master Fong....and he mentioned Bruce Lee.
Larry Holmes once said something about throwing his jab like that. He said his hand would be relaxed when throwing the jab and he would ball his fist up right before impact.
Using G ( G = m*v ) to trascend power in physics. Thats why junk bowl has so much velocity if hit by slow moving car. Car has much higher mass. The G is transfered to dustbin which has 50 times smaller mass and therefore 50 higher velocity after energy transfer. Principle used here.
It's such a delight to see Sifu Fong in action! I'm from Europe and the biggest share of Wing Chun schools here are simply rubbish. They have nothing to do with the art shown in this video. And the biggest problem is that they are highly ineffective while telling their students that only their system is the only one useful for self defense. Their only justification to claim that they make "real Wing Chun" is that the brother of the uncle of the facility manager once in his life saw the housekeeper of a direct Ip Man student. That's it. And many people without any martial arts experience fall for this crap. It's a complete disgrace to this awesome martial arts!
What style should I do next?
Go down the road to Ft Benning and see if they'll give you a SOCP demo.
Could you do Lima Lama sir I think you would love to see the Art.🙏

The star of the channel! He's totally great.
Sifu is amazing! And thanks to Mike for demoing with sifu!
Somebody owes Mike lunch! LOL Dude was getting popped! Sifu Fong was punching through the pad!
is this dim mak?
I detect a great deal of exaggeration, for 'marketing' purposes.
The body language is not coherent, but he can still have lamb kebab on me. :)
Dw he’s getting stronger

Sifu Fong is the goat and will always be 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
Best kungfu Content on UA-cam. These Techniues are so fluid and efficient.
That poor guy, getting beaten up by every guest on the channel
That "poor" guy is learning a lot, I would trade places with him gladly.
It’s usually me getting beat up 😂😂

He has the best seat in the house.
Underappreciated for sure. Dude's a real one lol.

Yes, a teacher of dance and shadow boxing, but don't ask him to fight. Xi Xiaodong will make him a cringing heap in 1 round. 😂

Wow, you're doing a great job bringing these masters to light.
Sifu Fong knows a true Master never stops learning. Much respect to him.
Thank you for sharing the knowledge of Master Fong.
Those were the most profound statements about titles and training that I have experienced. Thank you Sifu Fong
I love how humble this guy is. He doesnt say what he is teaching is the best. Hes teaching people how to better themselves. What a legend 🙏🙏
Great video with Sifu! Thank you Kevin for that content!
Sifu Francis Fong has incredible knowledge. He has a vast skill set. I want to learn Wing Chun from him.
This was an awesome demonstration of WC power. Great job!
