My son and I just got back from sledding a tree to our property and he noticed one of the jets sleds had a several inch crack. I told him I bet someone has a good way of fixing these... I immediately watched your video with him. Very helpful in the way you get up close shots and really show the technique. Makes all the difference.... Thank you brother!
Glad you got something from it
My Jet Sled wore through after 7 years or so. I took an old pair of downhill skis and bolted them to it thinking it might buy me a year or two, but it actually lasted another 5-6 years before I gave it to a friend and bought an Otter. The Otter hitch is definitely superior and I installed the runner kit, so it should last a long time. Hope your fix works!
It should. Pretty solid. The ski trick, and runners work well.
Just made the same video with fiberglass which lasted one boat launch! I didn't even think of plastic welding. I just bought the high speed plastic runners for $45 they should help with drag and give me a few more years.
Ive tried fiberglass a few times, looks good initally, but have also found it doesn't work long term. Them runners are a good option. Hoping my weld gets another couple years.
Just mounted old cross country skis on the bottom of my new jet sled today 👍
Awesome!! Always a good upgrade
Great idea Josh, never even thought of that. That turned out good. Thanks for sharing.

Its a handy tool to have Adrain!! Thanks for watching!
Looks great! Do you think the repairs would last longer if you would embed the wire mesh they sell for plastic welding?
use some mig welding wire or any thin wire to stich the tear before you plastic weld over it. Ive had a few things I repaired this way and it held better than without
easy to hold the heater to the wire and it just sort of falls into the plastic beneath as well.
happy fishing
I was going to use the mesh that came with the kit, but ran out!! It’s is best practice to use something like that
Great video, I will be getting one of these soon.
They’re a hand tool to have!! I use it all the time!!
Stuff works pretty good!
Sure does.
why not use a screen to help on the bigger holes?
Great idea but I still wouldn't leave it like that. Some after market plastic runners will make that repair last forever.
I could see it cracking after a good crunch especially since plastic doesn't like cold.
Agreed. The plastic runners will definately last longer. I’ve hauled firewood with the repair 10-12 times and it’s holding up well so far
Interesting.
Looks like a guy could do that in an off-grid situation with the little campfire and maybe a hammer.
One definitely could, with a hammer, knife, anything steel. Quite easy an off grid fix
Hello my friend happy Thanksgiving
