It’d be really nice if you could test at both 1x and 2x for 2x reproduction lenses, considering there’s quite a few different brands doing them now. And especially in this one’s case, it’s so cheap (relatively) that it’d still be a decent value even if it was only good at 1x, and I imagine it would be better there.
The pincushion distortion was what made me sell the original version of the lens almost immediately after getting it - it's absolutely awful for scanning film, for one. Stuck with 7a 1:1 macro for now.
How many versions are there now? I got the "upgraded" version, but it is absolutely shit for film scanning (like you mentioned) fortunately... I have a 60mm 1:1 tt artisans lens for my /less fancy/ camera.. but 20mp is still more than enough for scanning
All macro lenses are doing it. Basically as you focus closer, a 60mm lens becomes more of a 85mm or for example a 100mm lens a 120-130mm lens. On high magnification macros aperture values and focal lenghts are only nominal numbers
Sony a5100 = Sony E mount. Pergear itself (daught calm) says it's normally $229, but is currently selling it for $183.20, with free shipping. Also available in Fuji X-mount, M4/3, and Nikon Z-mount, all for the same price.
3:22 I notice heavy colour fringing in 1 to5 on the sides and to 7 at the top and bottom. (watching on calibrater monitor) The lens does not seem like the right choice for me. The distortion is too bad too.
It focuses the "wrong way" like Nikon and Pentax. A macro Lens should not have pincusion distortion, the lens has too soft "sharpness" for a macro lens, I will not recommend this.
Congratulations, Christopher! The first UA-cam lens review to include the word "corpulent" !!
actually i think he's used that word before 😂(not complaining though)
We use this word on a daily base in Germany. 😅
Best lens test channel on youtube in my opinion.
This might be a silly question but... how can we tell this new version apart from the old one?
Great review, interesting lens, thanks!

2:17 That focus-breathing is bonkers, but apparently the reason the lens changes image-circle size to FF when shooting macro.
Eh, looks just slightly worse than average for macro lenses.

Can’t find lens mount and price in the description… is it in rf mount?

@@aliendroneservices6621 thank you
How does it compare to Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2:1 Macro APO? I have that lens, and it is the sharpest lens I own.
Hi, After all this time, what do you think? I want to buy the Laowa 65mm but my budget is tight, so I was wondering if this lens is at least similar
Best review
Do you think it would be worth it for taking photos of artwork for the purposes of creating prints of those artworks?
I have a sigma 105mm macro but it's pretty fun lens i think(never look at the corner😂😂)
how is this lens compared against the laowa 58mm 2.8 macro lens
Great lens

You said it's good value, but I didn't catch a price?
Around $200
why are you trying it on such and old camera ?
just got the lens, its not working. no response while clicking photo. is there any settinngs that needs to be changed while using with Canon RF?
Buenas, según estuve leyendo tiene que poner una configuración en su cámara de trabajar sin objetivo, porque es mecánico y no eléctrico
Good review, help for decision!
It‘s a good very old rule - 2 stops down a lens is best…
Background music? No, just noise!

Try to sell chinese lenses, especially if they are mft, good luck!
canon R series camera 😢😢😢
Not much good as a macro if it's getting soft at f8
it is getting soft at 2:1, at this magnification diffraction kick in faster than normal 1:1
1st 😂😂
Excellent sir, I liked the lens! Glory to Russia!!!🇷🇺
