I love Russell Wright too. It looks like what you would find in the cupboards of an older cottage. Get out the booze and watch the kids play in the sand. So much retro fun. Thanks Scott.🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🍀🍀🍀🍀💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🍀🍀🍀🍀💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🍀🍀🍀🍀💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🍀🍀🍀🍀💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🍀🍀🍀🍀💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🍀🍀🍀🍀💜💜💜
I’m like you. I love 20’s, 30’s, 40’s items, but lately I’ve really been appreciating the mid century style. I was born in 58, and it is all just so nostalgic. And that painting is so fabulous!!!
Funny story about the dishes. My 2 younger sisters and I would argue about who got what color to eat off. One supper, my Dad had enough, stood up, dumped our food on the table and put dishes in sink. We ate off the table that night, but learned a big lesson. I was about 6, am now 67 and still remember.
Great items from my younger years!!!!! Like walking through stores in my early teen years!!!! The designs of the early 60s were so Pretty and classy after the bulkier 50s. Streamlined and sleek!💖👵🦋. The cityscape is BEAUTIFUL and uses all those great mid 60 colors!!!! 💖🦋👵
All my moms friends had Russells dishes...The children ate their lunch on them cause they dont break!! They do get discolored & get scratch marks on them...but Russels ceramic plates are thin smooth & beautiful...in Mustard gold, turquiose...MY FAVE'S💖
Hello Scott! The painting was cool😊. I have a bunch of old glasses from I believe the 50’s, in the basement. Lol, I never even knew they were there till about a year ago when I was going through stuff. Lol, my mother saved everything 😂.
LOVE the intro music 😍. Reminded me of “Good Neighbor Sam” movie 😃 or a Doris Day film. “ Move Over Darling” is my favorite of hers. Great pieces you found! Side note- love “Around the World in 80 Days”. The scene in the airplane where he wants the “old fashioned” drink kills me 🤣
Those melamine plates brought back memories.....growing up we had a set, not the same shape...but I knew right away what they were , that sound when they hit against each other is so distinct.
@@samanthab1923 Ours were multi colors...red, green, yellow,...not sure what else..just know as kids we all fought over the red plate we all wanted it...lol....
Hi Scott! I have my grandmother's Melmac dishes. Wonderful colors.. I'm excited about the weather station!! Will look forward to that in your store. So many wonderful things to see as always!!
Oh, that Russel Wright! Love it. My rich aunt had Russel Wright stoneware which was used at every family dinner. I so wish she had left it to me!That painting is awesome! Beautiful haul, Scott! And I loved the music. I and other viewers would love for you to identify who recorded it, the name of the piece, etc.
I was in the bed with my husband taking a very rare and much needed afternoon nap and this video notification popped up. I crept quietly into the living room to watch it because I just HAD to see what you found. (I'm so ashamed of myself, lol)
What an amazing variety of gorgeous mid century modern items! I love the pretty colored set of 6 possibly Hazel-Atlas glasses and the amber glass set best!
The first tune is called "Gaiety in the Golden Age" music composed, performed and recorded by Aaron Kenny. The second is a mid century version of "Maria Elena" performed by the old Sammy Kaye Orchestra. I uploaded the tune to my computer directly off of the old vinyl record album, skips, crackles, pops and all!
That style of painting was popular in the 60's. My Granny moved in her new house in 1964. Modern furniture and a pitcher very similar. I rather like it.
I love the painting. It reminds me of my hometown a little. Especially with the Woolworth. Also, I was just wondering a day or two ago if you ever buy any Melamine pieces. I grew up eating off Melamac, lol. But I love it. I have a few pieces that belonged to my ex's grandmother. I love the turquoise. I had a creamer & sugar bowl that color, but they got lost along the way. And I think the cocktail shakers missing their lids would make wonderful iced tea glasses to drink my sweet southern tea from. 😉
LOVE the glass caddies! They're both so great looking with interesting lines that just don't exist in modern design. Funny, I had two dryer chairs _just_ _like_ the one you showed briefly in the intro! They were SO comfortable! The upholstery was a textured vinyl. They had to be spill-proof and able to withstand hair color or perm solution (stinky!) dripping down onto them. I should have made it more clear how much I loved them because a family member said "I didn't think you liked them that much", after selling them to someone who had stopped by to visit!! Grrr!
Love that painting reminds me of living in NYC ten years after that was painted, I believe the artist's first name is James. Could not quite make out the last name. Might have been one of the artist who used to sell their art on the streets of NYC on weekends back in the day. All the fences around the local playgrounds became instant art galleries and there were a lot of talented artists who sold to the locals and the tourists that way.
Scott, what a MCM haul! That painting is just unbelievable. I usually have no interest in art, but that is great. Wish you could find something on the artist. Wonder if NYC galleries could help? Alert some of them to the fact that you have a painting listed on eBay that you think is really noteworthy. JamesTrallo? I really wish you had taken this to NYC for an appraisal. I think this could really be something!
I do like it as well but have the feeling it was painted by a local armature artist. We shall just wait and see what it does at auction. Thanks for watching.
I wanna hear you sing. Those glasses are very nice. See that's my problem I have 2 pieces of art that I can't find anything about them BC I can't figure out the signatures. But on your piece of art first name looks like Joanna last name looks like F or Taollo.
Thank you! I shipped it yesterday and you will love it. I particularly appreciate the vibrant color green and the 3 tiny "twig" legs! I'm thrilled to have found it and now it will live again and be cherished by a new "lover of things old"!
Hi Scott, very nice festive haul. I love the color of the dishes. The painting I love. I think the name is.....🥁🥁🥁 Janis Joplin 🤩 lol lol, nah, but it sorta looks like Janis as far as the last name Idk. but I love it!!! 🥰🥰

I appreciate the fact you are an ethical seller. Good on you. PS when you said the painting 'pops' at 18:00 did you purposely time that with the siren outside :)
You know it's funny.....being a city guy I don't even hear the sirens! I had to go back and watch the video to see what you were talking about. Too funny. When I visit the country...the sound of one cricket keeps me awake all night!
Now I want a split level house to have a mid century modern room. 😑 I can’t afford. Maybe my office. Friends will have to walk through the 1940s living room to the future. I truly admire your taste.

Wonderful finds! Never disappointed when I watch your channel. 🤗
The painting is wonderful and the glassware is lovely.👍
I am shocked! Our 1930s expert has taken a detour down Mid-Century Lane and he seems not to mind the unexpected turn! 🙂
I know, right! When my depression glass took one look at the kitchen counter, it all ran and hid!
I’m a sucker for mid century stuff! I especially love that lamp!!
Loooove this video! Awesome stuff from that era!!👍
Thank you for helping me live in the past...love the painting and your choice of music makes me smile.
fabulous lamp

Everything was Fab!
All fun items in great condition fun to watch
Cocktailiana? I'm going to start using THAT one, Scott!! ALWAYS geat lessons to be learned from YOU!! Thanks!!
Try Joseph Trello on the painting. And he's VERY good. When you turned on the light, it was as though the lights IN the painting came on.
Omg incredible items! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Those Russell Wright dishes are what we had growing up in the 1960's. They have been gone a long time and I never knew what they were. Thank you!

Love the VW Beetle at the front of the painting ❤️
You finally decided to sell that painting! Still love it! Loved the music also. 😀
Thanks, Barb!
Love all of it! I’m actually mid century modern myself. Born 1950 .
Love, love the painting. It is sooo busy, lots to look at there.

Yes, it does. I drive to Tampa several times a week.

I just realized your aesthetic is a perfect combo of Nick and Nora Charles and The Rat Pack...Cool!👍
Mallo...looks like the last name on the painting. But I could be wrong. Joanna maybe for first name.

Yeah, I liked the painting as well. Really liked the roley poleys. But where was the coffee-taliani lol
Love the painting. So you never did say what Bakelite smells like. 🤔
Hey Dee!!! It smells like ammonia 👵💖🦋
To me it smells like old burnt electrical wire dipped in petroleum!

Hi what's the name of that music. I know I've heard it before but can't place it.

Face in the painting,
No coffee 😃
I forgot!
What kind of drink was served in roly poly glasses?
I guess some type of alcohol.

Hi Scott! So what is “Bakelite” supposed to smell like? I always hear people say to rub it but, they never say what it smells like. Can you please tell me?
@Maryann Williams, bakelite smells like ammonia when rubbed.
In my opinion, it smells like old burnt electrical wires mixed with petroleum.
Was that actually a mid-century version of Marie Elena?
Good Ear....yes!!!
Is it melamine?
Yes yes.
There is a upside down little child's face. Check it out.
