After finding and watching this video, I tried everything that was suggested, The three notches, Grease And A spacer on the bottom. All with a new filter .I still had dirt in the air tract. There was no signs of it getting past the seals, so it had to come right through the filter and this was with 250 miles Of light riding .I did this while I was waiting on the delivery of my new UNI.I had one on my 08 teryx and loved it ,cant wait to get one on the KRX tomorrow. Thanks for everything Jake.
Thanks for this video Jake. I’ve had nothing but issues with dust getting into the intake with stock and R2C filters until I switched to a Baldwin filter. Like the Donaldson, it’s about a half inch longer than the stock filter and it works perfect, like it should.
Yay, I'm (in)famous! 😜. I have been looking at the particulate separators that are available for the KRX. Have you had any experience with them? Also, do you have or recommend a video that goes over pulling the intake tubing off and cleaning it?
Lol. Yes the separator’s help but in the end the maintenance is the main thing. There is no videos that I know of removing the intake tubing and air intake box. I know a guy though 😉
What’s your opinion on the Wix #51358 it’s a little longer than the stock filter as well and I’ve always been under the impression that wix made great filters Good video, appreciate all the time you put into them for us😎
Exactly why I told you before I adapted a UNI three stage Foam Air Filter to my car. Seven months later I have had no dust enter my intake tract since. People will not listen and most of them are in denial. Some people are like sheep and will follow each other off a cliff. I call them Sheeple.
I looked on UNI’s site and found one that was close , but the clamping side was 3.5” and from what I can tell the one needed is 3.25”. What UNI part number did you use? I really think a UNI mod might be the best option till they release something better.
Hey Jake, James here in Atlanta. I have many of the products you sell and you do a great job with keeping us KRX guys informed. What are your thoughts on the dry style R2C filter?
Update :I put silicone in the three notches of the stock filter, let dry. Then added a piece of 2"x2" piece of foam weather stripping to the door to put pressure on the filter and closed the cove. Now the cover springs open quick when the locking spring are undone.
I have found that the NAPA gold filter fits really well. It also seems to be a quality filter. Two questions: Now that you have had ayear of changing filters more often, how often are you changing your filter? Secondly, how do you feel about using the air compressor to blow the filter out from the inside out every ride or two, in between filter changes?
we have learned to no longer trust the paper filter and neither should you. We now make and sell a UNI foam oiled air filter that is always cleanable. The napa/wix are junk. Watch the video here on our channel. Even the new kawasaki motorcycles come with a oiled foam air filter, why not the KRX?
Just ordered a couple from yah, thanks for the tips. What do you think of the S&B particle seperator? I ran S&B on my 2015 RZR XP it really cut down the amount of dust getting to the filter on that machine.
It helps, but it’s no replacement for maintenance. From what I’ve seen most people that have them don’t look at the air filter because they think it’s good. That’s really bad.
Jake how much longer is your Donaldson compared to the stock, my car is a 2121. Someone said their filter was 1.5 inches longer than skock.I put a 1/2 inch spacer on the bottom on my filter to help with a tighter fit, and the door would not close. As for the three gaps along the seal I used silicone, but I let it dry before installing it. I would like to know your opinion on the washable RC2 . I hit the like button. 😀
Thank you. I don’t remember the exact length but it’s around 1/4”. Read the other comments here about the rc2. We are working on a pre-filter for our filter now and in the next couple months will have a cleanable air filter available.
is there a ring for a secondary filter? when i worked on fork lifts, there was always a secondary filter inside the outer filter. and would putting a ring of grease around the filter help any ?
Great video. You might’ve mentioned it and I just missed it, but as a general rule of thumb, how often would you say replace the filter? 50 hours or once a year or sooner?
Way sooner. It really depends on you and where you’re riding, but I’ve been pretty religious about mine and it wasn’t soon enough. That filter shown only had two trips on it.
The shoe goo worked a little better but these paper filters are not the answer. The Trinity is definitely not the answer either. Lots of information and results are posted on the forums. We went to the UNI and have it looked back. Check out our newer videos on that filter.
@FULL ACCESS UTV so is the new filter you sell is that get oil I thought the k&n type filters were not that great and did they fix the groves on the rear
I apologize, what is shoedo? or shoodew? I can't find it on line or don't know what that is? Silicone?? 2nd question is if you need to fill in those little slots on the filter, what is the reason they make it like this in the first place? There must be a reason they make it like this?
The reasoning they made them was for vacuum suction. However, we have gone away from using paper air filters in the Kawasaki. Check out our videos and we now have a UNI air filter made specifically for the Kawasaki. Lifetime and cleanable.
That’s actually not wild to hear. Most people in the racing world know that those filters do not hold up. Been racing off-road my whole life so I’m sure I had plenty of oil. Google it. Sorry.
@@fullaccessutv I did read around on google and it seems like there are conflicted stories.. Some say they let it past some don't.... On my 2013 Grizzly I will say K&N is the best filter I have used on that particular machine but I clean it and oil after a dusty ride.

You are correct. And thanks for the purchase. The Uni filter was a mandatory thing for our rides. The stock filters

I have the KWT particle separator and it does a good job cutting down the dirt/dust that gets into the airbox
That flip forward kit looks like it gives you full access to that filter. Great products and service!
Yes they do
I agree, regret putting a k/n filter in my 2011 Polaris Xp900, destroyed my motor, never again!!!
I had a polaris 900 200 Miles in dust the engine was whip starting burning oil before its first oil change. I had a 2015

Agree. However I think that’s way too involved for the average customer to do. These manufacturers need to come out with something ASAP.
I second that. I have moved on to a UNI. Made a small hole to tighten the filter clamp. No need for any goop.
@@peterkueffner747 Agreed. They make one that fits, but the media is still too small. However it works if you keep it clean.

I take some grease on my finger and rub it on the seals and been doing it a year now and no dirt in the air tract might be worth a try
we have tried it on all of them.
why not put a light layer of grease around the base which would stop silt coming through the base.
It may help. But in the end we realize the paper filter in. We have since gone to the UNI
Maybe Donaldson can make one
Preciate the info

great video Jake, what are your thoughts on a particle Seperator?
They help some, but it’s the fine dirt that is getting in and they still let that by. Just less

what about a uni filter cover that go's over the stock filter or your filter?
This is 2 stage, so there is no need for a pre filter.
What is the number on the Donaldson filter that u used. I like the fact that they are a little longer and having the pressure holding it in place
Listed in the link
Nevermind you answered my question LOL
what about using a little K&N filter grease around the intake side of filter?
tried that.
Why do the filters need the three notches? Seems like they are the main problem.
not sure, but the main issue is the center radial seal that is sucking the dirt from those notches.
