"This video is for all you middle schoolers and high schoolers..." Now THAT's how you make me feel like cold hard noob, lol! I'm in college, and decided to pick up the clarinet as another hobby. Started playing today, and it's going well! This video is greatly appreciated.
Ah, shoot, I'm sorry! I didn't mean it like that at all! I meant it as a silly joke, ha ha. I did not mean to sound displeased in any way whatsoever, please disregard that! As for the video, it helped me to the point that I can now play the concert Bb scale, I can't thank you enough. Good luck with your studies!
I'm 21. I went out and bought a Lazarro Clarinet because I wanted to learn an instrument, but I had absolutely no idea where to start. I found your video and its helped me learn how to practice fingering the keyholes in the correct order. Thank you so much for the help.
Gabrielle Hoffman change your clarinet, some clarinets might not work because of clogage. I experienced the same thing in elementary school, so it's best to switch your clarinet and look for other one's
I'm 26 and I haven't played the clarinet since 7th grade but recently decided to get back into it for fun! Super helpful video! Good luck clarinet friend!
You're too much amazing young woman. I just bought a new clarinet on Friday and this was the first video I found. Now I understand what I need to do. Thank you!
Hi, my name is Alycia and I am learning to play the clarinet at school. I am in Yr 5. I watched your video and it helped me to complete the c scale. I am so excited that I can play it now! I can't wait to show my music teacher on Thursday how much I've improved. Thank you for your wonderful video!
I am 36 and I decided to learn clarinet. A pitty I did not play at school. So today I am starting my C major scale, and am happy for your tutorial - the 1st and 2nd octave switch was a great help for me. So Thank you and wish you good times.
I play saxophone and found myself interested about clarinet so I bought one a couple of days ago. I all the time believed that the keys for the notes were the same in both instruments. Now I understand why my songs would not sound the same in the lower notes of the clarinet. Now I realize that only the high notes are the same as the sax. Let me tell you young lady, you make an excellent instructor. Thank you so much for this video
This vid is cool and it’s really helpful, and I now it’s weird, but there’s different fingers for “G” and “A” to make it more in tune. It’s more difficult but I’m a sixth grader and it gets easier the more you practice. “G” with the two last fingers down makes it smoother. “A” is a bit more difficult to explain, but my teacher taught me to hold the top key, plus the two bottom and two top last fingers plus the bottom right pinky key. ( I know this was extra but it helps you keep in tune, just in case you were wondering how to fix that. )
Just a tip for others who need help transitioning from low A to low B or low B to low A, just keep your right hand down as you would for B, but lift and push the key for A. If you're still having trouble, it's also possible to keep down all the fingers for B, except the register key, the key for low F / high C, and the key in front where your first finger goes. Hope this helps :)
This is nice and more simplified too. I also take classes on Instruments but love the way u simplified urs n easier within minutes for any beginners. Keep it up. Nice n lovely.
I play the saxophone, hehe and I was watching this to help my neighbor practice and this was SO HELPFUL! Thanks, and I was wondering if you were also going to teach others about arpeggio too while doing scales :)
Thank you so much! I am in 6th grade, and literally starting today, switching from violin, and am still a newb. (Obviously) I had no training before your videos, and now I actually know some stuff! I hope my new music teacher is impressed! Thank you! .
I actually used to play clarinet a long time ago back in only 5th and 6th grade. Throughout that time I never got passed the basics. This scale you know and remember I recognize those because I play piano and I sing. For example the first note you play which is c is actually an a sharp on piano and in singing and then d is actually c and so on. I know each instrument note played is a different letter of that note and whatever I hear I am just so used to hearing those notes while singing or playing piano I know the note I hear is actually the note in vocal and piano talk. I hope this makes sense
Superb!! I gave up clarinet when I was 13. 44 now. (The instrument got smaller) Got the scale down, committing it to muscle memory is next. I forgot how much drool this involved. 🤤
+Ashia EM Make sure you put a lot of pressure on your lower lip when the mouthpiece of the clarinet. Usually when no sound comes out for me on a high note, it's usually that. I highly recommend getting a tuner (usually free) and checking how your notes sound.
I'm in fifth grade and I'm doing the instrumental g&t test for the clarinet so does anyone know what you do for the test ? Please respond . Thank you !
I am 35 years old and never played a wind instrument since I was 8. And that was only for a few months in school. Regardless I feel like this is all new to me. And I came across your youtube channel. You have been such an inspiration and so helpful that I have just purchased my very own clarinet. So now excited for it to arrive in the mail. And will be using your videos to assist me in learning the basics. One quick question though. My daughter plays the flute and her and I both struggle to read sheet music. Would you be able to do a Clarinet Sheet Music Tutorial for beginners please? Thank you so much. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!!!
Ok u are the best bc I have tried to learn this scale and I just can’t play it but thanks to u am luring how to play it I have watched so many videos but I don’t get them but with u am luring better then with my directors (I still like them ther nice) Tysm ur the best❤️❤️
um I know all the easy ones, but I was hoping you can explain a bit more of the which one is B flat an B natural, because I've been having difficulties and were have a test in a few weeks and I'm like sweating over here! :(
I have to learn 4 scales in 1 week: G C F and Ab/Bb. its for a chair test at school. I would be OK if we didn't have to play them all memorized. I'm only in 7th grade in honor band so most all other students are 8th graders. is their any way I could learn these scales fast and memorized? plz help
+Samantha Parra Well aslong as you know the fingurings and names of the fingurings you dont really need the sheet music at all. Just go up an octave and back down. Like for C major scale, start on c (3 fingures down + thumb) then go up until you hit the next c, or until the next c after that. Now if your having trouble memorizing the fingurings, for the most part clarinet is just lift one fingur at a time basically. Usually you can memorize all the fingurings with just a quick little practice session. When you get up into high school marching band (Which I strongly advise you do because it is a BLAST) you gotta play entire songs memorized and youll look back at these scales like why did I even get nervous. Keep practicing the clarinet ! :)
+BrandonPlayz thx my chair test was a while back and I got a 95. last weeks chair test we played the F scale and now I'm second chair cause I got 100!!!
Make sure all of your fingers are fully covering the note holes. To check this, press your fingers firmly on the hole for a few seconds and take them off and see if there are circles in the /center/ of your fingers. Also, make sure you have a firm embouchure. Hope it helped! : ^)
keep at it! practice makes perfect and no joke it took me the whole summer to learn how to play B. it takes time but once you get it, you can play more songs above the break (register key). After awhile you find the sweet spot where you always set your embouchure but it takes time. So invest time every day to play so you can get better. so just keep going up C major scale to B and keep pushing air. Air is very important on the clarinet it will help you reach the note. Dont be afraid of squeaks.
I'm in beginner but I'm 1st chair and rly good almost can play problem i play on a 3 power and know how to play most notes i don't know how to read them well but this's rly helped thx btw im a guy

Make sure all of your fingers are fully covering the note holes. To check this, press your fingers firmly on the hole for a few seconds and take them off and see if there are circles in the /center/ of your fingers. Also, make sure you have a firm embouchure. Hope it helped! : ^)

I can't really play b. Is that bad?
keep at it! practice makes perfect and no joke it took me the whole summer to learn how to play B. it takes time but once you get it, you can play more songs above the break (register key). After awhile you find the sweet spot where you always set your embouchure but it takes time.
