This honestly is the only review you need! All the reviews i have seen are from the demo or early hours of the game and that wasnt enough information for me to make a decision. The $60 price point made to wait to purchase but since im a huge Rune factory and Harvest moon/SOS fan ive been very interested. Since its on sale rn im going to buy it this week! Very excited thank you for such a great review
Thank you for this review! When the game was initially release, I heard nothing but negative things about it so I avoided the game. I'm glad I watched your in-depth review, I like how you were really balanced with your opinions and the pros/cons of everything. it really swayed my opinion and I'm considering getting this since it's on sale right now.
Appreciate that! I feel like it’s important to be honest even if you really like something. You can really like something and still acknowledge the flaws and want better for it. :)
Thank you for your thorough review :D I was still on the fence about getting it, but you've helped me make that decision! Can't wait to finally be able to play it!
Fantastic! I feel like I was a little harsh, but I didn’t want to skim over the flaws the game has. That being said, I still had a wonderful time and would suggest it to fans of the genre or new players wanting to try it out. :)
Idk why I'm just finding your channel now, but this was a great video. I've been thinking of trying the game again after my first playthrough ended early due to life stuff and started watching this while i wait for the game to redownload. Great work though!
Best Review for this game i feel like you reviewed it for what it is not what it "should be". Just completed the game put in 70hours but gosh it was so much fun. The side quest were actually interesting because it gave more life to the towns, and gave more in depth main story when it came to the party members. I really hope for a sequel now SE has a foundation to grow on.
The game is amazing looking I took so many screenshots because it’s so pretty. But I did have some performance issues with boss battles or forced encounters for side quests. I’m on switch so that’s probably why.
One correction: Quietus only starts at one day, it actually gets longer every year. Most players won't experience this though, it's easy to complete the story before the end of the first year.
In my first playthrough I actually finished the main storyline on Switch in five of that world’s years and Quietus was only one day between the seasons the entire time I played. Is the lengthening only on PC?
It's always super important to go into any review with an open mind. I'm sure plenty of people hate the game and think my review is trash. LOL! But I did my best to be as unbias as I could be as someone who did in fact enjoy the game.
I got this for $30 on Amazon and absolutely loved it. I do fully agree that for fully price I would feel underwhelmed. But I’ve been dying for a new Rune Factory and 5 was just not hitting that spot for me. While this was most definitely lackluster in the romance and relationship aspects I do think if they made this a series they could expand more on that. I think the vast majority of games now are released well before they’re ready and it’s becoming a huge issue. Smaller independent studios like the one that did PalWorld will realize they need more time and money and release it but also tell you beforehand that it’s not 100% and that they’re still working on it and price it accordingly. When you rush these games out they still get charged full price and no one has any motivation to keep working on them because why? They’re already released and all that money passed hands. I think with more love, time and funds this game could be so much more. I loved it for what it was and I had a great time with it. I love jrpgs and chill games but find farming/life sims to be too boring. The combat in Harvestella and skill trees weren’t half bad at all. I hope that they’ll give this a series and an actual chance at a full development. Edit: I’m at the exact same point- finished the main story, have around 100 hours and still slowly working on some post game stuff but haven’t actually put the game on in a while. But thanks to it I did grab rune factory 4 special and have been having the time of my life.
@@ajjerio3927 The game has a lot of potential and is still really great. It could just easily be next level with a few changes that’s for sure. Voice acting to start
@@PrincessKyleGaming I feel that game studios (looking at you gamefreak) prioritize profits over quality of life improvements like voice acting and smaller tweaks to visuals and overall gameplay. Still excited to play Harvestella despite not usually playing farm sims :)
That’s suuuuuuuper tough! I think Harvestella has got more polish and a better story. Probably more in depth combat too. Rune Factory 5 has more whimsy and the farming is more in depth. Also, relationship and friendship building I prefer in RF5. And more to craft and equip in RF5.
I've played rpg's for so long that I have developed an affinity for a good fishing game! Totally agree though, like give me a birdwatching notebook or something
The game looks interesting but I HATE harvesting in game. So, how important is harvesting in the game? Is the feature game / story related or is it just a way to get gold?
Literally just a way to get gold. If you don't like farming, you'll be totally fine with this game. Aside from the opening tutorial, no farming is required at all. :)
I wanted to watch a review before committing to buy this game and I thought your review was enough for me to determine that it might be too simple of a game for me compared to SoS. Also really sad about romance being in post game only. Big thanks.
The Lord Jesus shall soon break upon the eastern skies, and before this, religious corruption mingled with the heavy-handed power of the state will come to pass as prophecy has foretold. He is calling all to repent, because the heavenly judgment has begun, and lines are being measured out, and life and death are determined, according to every man's choice. Since these things are unfolding before our very eyes, where will you stand in relation to God and His only-begotten Son who laid down His life for you, that you might receive the life of heaven. But none can receive it unless they are willing to lay down everything that separates them from the life of that Kingdom; sacrifice for sacrifice, life for life.
Square Enix did something very interesting with the story and I'm glad you enjoyed it too. spoiler; I got a real kick in the teeth when they presented the "genocide A or B" option. I just want to harvest my carrots! Why do I have to murder millions of people? Also the opening screen changing with each season was impressive until finally a certain someone disappeared from the opening screen. That actually broke my heart. Square Enix being subtle and cruel at the same time. What an amazing game.
Lmao yeah it took a turn for sure! 🤣 But it was nice to have some stakes at the end I suppose. But it went from gardening to holy shit the world is ending real damn fast!
This honestly is the only review you need!

Aww, thank you for your kind words! I think it's definitely worth a play, especially on sale! :)

The music, atmosphere, and art gives me major Chrono cross vibe.
CC is my favorite game, so I love it.
I'm more of a fan of the OG Chrono; Chrono Trigger, but I feel you.
The game is amazing looking I took so many screenshots because it’s so pretty. But I did have some performance issues with boss battles or forced encounters for side quests. I’m on switch so that’s probably why.
It had some stutter here and there, but nothing that ruined the game for me. I think I'm just used to it when it comes to Switch games ._.

That’s pretty cool, I actually did not know that!
Awesome. I missed that too. Completed the story in two years, never noticed Quietus getting longer.

Thanks for the review! I just got this game on sale and can’t wait to play
I hope you looooooooove it! :)
I’d looove to see an updated video on npc romance once you reach it post-game! Been thoroughly enjoying all of your Harvestella tips/reviews :)
Thank you so much! I’m curious as well. After my combat series I’ll take a look into it for sure
This game here showed me that I can't trust any reviewer but myself. Really love Harvestella.

Fingers crossed for a sequel, I completely agree! And RF4 is amazing~!
I think not having voice acting is unacceptable when they're charging full AAA price.
Yeah, I hope we get to a point in time where that’s a thing of the past. I don’t think it adds much and takes a lot away to not have voice acting
I managed to grab this for thirty dollars because I had a feeling it wouldn’t be able to maintain day 1 sales. Good to know the wait was worth it.

I just found your channel, and I am happily subscribing.
You are AWESOME! And I really appreciate it! :3
Fantastic review, thank you!
Thanks for this review, Nathalie. I got this game last week. I cannot wait to start it soon!!!! Did you mostly played in dock mode or handheld? ❤
I mostly play it docked! But mainly because my Switch sound doesn’t work in handheld mode 🫠
rune factory 5 or harvestella which is better?

YES, I wanted to be as honest as I could be. I was also upset it's locked to post game. Hopefully we'll see these improvements if they make a sequel.
Thanks man
Not being funny here but you did not do yhr mechanics justice AT ALL.
Youre giving people wrong information and should update or remove this.
If you have any clarification on what you don’t agree with I’d be happy to review and possibly update!
What are "yhr " mechanics?
Calm down terry

Square Enix did something very interesting with the story and I'm glad you enjoyed it too.
