After fronting popular Jamaican vocal trio the Paragons on a succession of best-selling rock steady singles during the late Sixties, John Holt went on to become one of Jamaica’s most popular solo performers, scoring a series of reggae hits for many of the island’s leading record producers. His international breakthrough came in 1974 with the hugely popular ‘1000 Volts of Holt’ album, which fused raw reggae rhythms with sophisticated orchestral arrangements. The highlight of the long-player was a reworking of Kris Kristoffersson’s country hit, ‘Help Me Make It Through The Night’, which the following year became a global hit, with the single peaking at Number 6 in the UK charts. Over the years that followed, Holt remained a giant of the reggae scene with further best sellers and numerous sell-out shows around the world. The very best of his solo work has been brought together on this Essential Artist compilation.

What a wonderful ending to Death in Paradise and the most amazing Bee Gees song - Morning of my Life the best version ever by John Holt. I am 80 years of age and this music brings so much
joy into my life at these most challenging times. More Reggae music is needed to lift people's spirit and heart. Love the Bee Gees but John Holts version is the best ever.

Yes. Loved the end music. I go to Jamaica every year since 1981. It’s my home away from home, soon to be my only home. Rich with deep thoughts, deep music, high vibe frequencies, sun, sea, sands, peace and love. Lived there 4 months. Covid ruined everything. It’s time. Can’t wait to go back. The music takes us to places in our minds we don’t have here. I’m the board house rental woman who fell in love with the simple life in the richness of Negril and the cliffs of West End. Too bad they paved the dirt roads. Now all of the tourists changed it. It still feels good though. The music 🎶 takes new to my heart.

Been searching for this for years. It was a Texaco advert in the 70's. It had different lyrics, but this is the tune. The lyrics were something like, "Something's calling, hear it whisper on the wind."

The Bee Gees sang this Waaaaaay back in 1966
They wrote it. Was also a big hit in Western Europe in 1967 for Israeli duo Esther & Ari Ofarim. The BeeGees was extraordinarily successful in their own right but what is often overlooked was their stature as songwriters, not only for themselves but also other artists.
