My son has autism and didn't sleep well last night. It was a long, tiring day. So I'm snuggling him at bedtime and I hear him reciting something (he has a cute speech impediment) and I recognize Bob Marley lyrics : ) so I put on this song and my boy gets a huge sleepy smile Thanks, Bob.

Our baby boy was in the hospital from the time he was born, waiting for a heart transplant. My husband and I would sing this to him daily. This was our exit song when he was finally released after 7 months of waiting for a heart and 10 months total in the hospital.

This song and what it represented in the era it was released....I understand trying to make money and introducing it to a new audience and I appreciate seeing it in a new format, music is to be enjoyed and not judged.
Nixon and crew established the war on drugs in the USA and made Mary Jane a Schedule 1 drug(like LSD or red poppy) to infiltrate the hippies and blacks because said entities didn't believe in the war in Vietnam and were a threat. There were riots in this era before the song came out but there was a shift in thinking and luckily I found weed and beer.
What this song meant to me was even though they were suppressing us, thought maybe they would take care of us but they defunded education in the 80's, wages stayed flat and the cost of living increased until you see today increasing homelessness and poverty. Bob REPRESENTED the outcast.
Thank you this song made me feel good right before my surgery and by the grace of my Lord Jesus Christ everything went alright !!!

We didn't get along too well, but after I got injured and had to use crutches, he snuck me some grass and we bonded while smoking with an aluminum can out a window.
