There are another set that rise 20mm and position back 60mm, they are expensive at $200, not sure if you can get them in the UK. Must admit, I've had no wheelie's so far, still using road mode s there's so much crap on the road, don't want the suspension any harder. Not been much 9k though, as you're doing stupid speed even in 2nd :)
I don't think I'd want them any further back to be honest, just a bit higher would be good but I think what I have now will do the trick for me. Those wheelies don't come all that easy do they, either you get lucky coming off a crest in the road or you get to the naughty side of 9k... which is hard to do on the road like you say... especially in these colder/slippier conditions. Well.... you could clutch them up too but I've never been good at that!
Glad I wasn't the only one who was shocked at insurance, my MT09 (66plate) was £120, s1kr £430 (inc pillion tax), and that was from BMW (devittinsurance.com) total shock, in fact Hasting, my MT insurer wouldn't even quote for it, I'm assuming its the initial cost of the bike. My credit card is still recovering from that and all the 'protection' bits :)
It's nearly £650 for me 😥 The galling thing was that Bennetts quoted me £504... until the insurer asked what my previous bike was. Once I entered in the 1250 Bandit the price shot up!! It doesn't matter to them that I'd owned an R1 before that (and if I had entered in that bike then the price would have stayed at £504), they just compare the previous bikes' insurance grouping to the against the new bike and press the multiply button I reckon 🤬
Good Video, I'm Looking at the BmwS1000r but after test riding one yesterday I felt really uncomfortable and too stretched over the tank which created neck pain and shoulder blade pain also. I've been wondering if a set of risers would solve this problem and make me go and buy one. How much of a difference do the risers make? What's the hight difference? And I'm 5'7, 19 Stone and a wide frame 👍 Cheers.
I'm 5'7 too and found that the 20mm risers I fitted helped quite a bit, I can sit upright easier than before and I don't need it any higher personally. There are risers you can get that go about an inch up *and* an inch back and people do like them but for me I think that might make a bike already prone to a bit of head shake - when you're cracking on - even worse by shifting back the centre of gravity. Also on top of this there has been lots of discussion about how the suspension copes with people of different weights, with people from under 10 stone to over 17 stone struggling to dial in the suspension. Have a search around S1000r.co.uk for posts about suspension. Maybe its worth considering an S1000XR (with the low seat height option) or a Kawasaki Z1000SX which I was really impressed with recently. Don't rush into a decision and test ride a few bikes if you can! P.S. I just thought - the S1000XR seat is a bit weird in it's design and might not suit your wider frame. KTM might be an option with their Super Duke?
@@RikkyTang Cheers for your quick reply. To be honest I'm not a fan of the XR or any of the Ktm's. I've previously owned a naked Zed1000 and I loved it and might possibly go back to one. I didn't like the SX variant or clip ons unfortunately. No rush in buying one yet, I currently have my 1st ever 2019 Harley davidson fat bob but I've decided whilst it's been fun, it's time to go back to my routes of a naked sports bike that'll be more enjoyable for me.
Hi, congrats for the channel. I wonder if it would be room enough to install a 40mm high instead of only 20mm. I mean if the wires are long enough to let the handlebar go farther
I think for sure you'll have problems with the clutch cable and you might have to see if you can re-route it to give you more freedom to allow 40mm risers, or buy a longer cable. I think you'll be ok with the other cables/wiring but I can't make any promises!
