Bart talking about "I dont relate to indians" .....dude, as an indonesian guy i dont relate to the chinese AT ALL but for some reason we are put in the same group
Joe: "You thought I was chinese, when I was japanese, shut the fck up"
Nick: "still gets me fired up"
😆
There are tons of famous Asians in the entertainment world but most people don't even know they are asians.
Azns are looked down on for the most part
It because we asian don't want to go to a Diddy party
You guys forgot Semen Liu.
Semen lube
Simu is canadian tho
Semen 😂😂😂 wtf
I bet you want his semen
😂
As a black American, I can think of plenty famous/popular Asian Americans, but I can't remember their names easily. To be fair, O have the same issue with plenty of famous Black Americans, lol.
I feel like Ryan wants to speak up but he doesn’t want to look like he’s “cooking for the home team”… cmon Ryan!! Speak up. Talk about Filipinos!
Alex Wassabi, Aaron Burriss, Andrew Burriss, Dante Basco, Roi aka Guava Juice
Everyone know about filipinos already yall the Mexican’s of the asians
Dtrix, AJ Raphael, him
They are talking about asian asians
Aint nobody wanna know about filipinos we all know about you we still dont care
Eddie Van Halen is also half Indonesian.
Lucy Liu
Y’all forgot Dave Bautista. Played Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy.
Dave Bautista was "Batista (the Animal, aka Leviathan)," a former WWE/WWF pro wrestler and MMA fighter
He doesn't looked East Asian or Malay .
Name an Asian, I would've answered Mike Shinoda from linkin park
If you can't throw down carry pepperspray and don't let things slide. Hand out tough love lessons like fortune cookies.
IMO how u hold urself determines if racists will mess with u
It determines HOW they will mess with you... not IF they will mess with you.
If they got the feeling you carry yourself with pride and confidence, than they will go the passive agressive route of messing with you📍
Agreed, and it's applicable to more than just dealing with racism too. You teach people your boundary by what you let them get away with.
True, but people shouldn't mess with other people no matter how you hold yourself.
I am Asian in North Carolina has not had the experience Joe friend had, but that’s just been my experience so don’t get it twisted just cause it’s the south doesn’t mean we’re everything social media says. I had more encounters living in Cali than here
Sup friend
Also he didn't say what race the guy is Joe's friend story is. Probably not an old white guy in a red hat imo.
I’m Asian in South Carolina. Where I’m from, I don’t experience any racism. In fact, my friends from the Midwest experience way more racism than I ever have and another fact, out of all the incidents that you can consider racist, most were from black people. Maybe the white people here are just really good at being closet racists, I don’t know but my 41 year old ass is constantly surrounded by confederate flag waving, red MAGA hat wearing rednecks and I don’t experience any racism.
I grew up here in NC and I've seen both for Asian friends I've had. I've seen some get made fun of for their eyes or something dumb to their face, and I've seen it where there were no issues at all, and they were loved all around.
maybe prior 80 or 90, I lived in several of "those states since 2005, I don't see it yet.
Dunno, from Chicago and it was racist as heack. Google Woom Sing Tse from Chicago. In Chinatown it is kinda safe for Chinese but outside of that area... good luck. FACTS.
This was a very honest conversation. Good ideas thrown around.
Being honest would mean calling out the basketball people. I have not seen 1 Azn call it out. Everyone is scared to be raycist against them 😂😂😂😂
My white ass loves the Jk news crew, I'm a part of 'Ryan's cult' ❤😊
I like your profile picture
Fun fact. The original Hollywood (male) sex symbol was an Asian man named Sessue Hayakawa. Apparently he was extremely popular, and was "a heartthrob among American women". Makes you do wonder why there hasn't really been another Sessue since. Could be several reasons, but can't help but think gatekeeping has something to do with it.
Possibly. I think that question becomes whether the gate keeping is because of targeting Asians specifically or prioritizing others more. Like we know DEI is being pushed more, so white actors are kind of being targeted. But it's also because agents and casting are focusing more on POC talent and roles. The problem with that focus is that it's still that hierarchy of oppression where Blacks are the default, and Asians are at the bottom as white-adjacent. Like a comedy event Aba and Preach were talking about where a white friend had been told not to apply for the line-up because they already had one white comedian on the ten-person roster, but they were filling five black spots.
Anime yes, kpop is most definitely trying to appeal to Western audiences. Which is funny, considering how it started.
It started as a product of american imperialism?
@@r6guy No, it started as Koreans copying Western boy bands. Close, though.
@@FuryOfCalderon It was illegal post war for Koreans to play music. You had to have a government issued license which was almost exclusively issued to entertainers at american military bases. That is where the interest in american style music originated. Close, though.
@@FuryOfCalderon As for boybands themselves, the Koreans were actually more interested in Japanese idol groups rather than American boybands. That's why they are still called idols today.
However, it became too be, I'm beyond obsessed with it.
No mention of the Wu Tang Clan..
Straight from the slumbs of Shoalin..... In New York. lol
Asian delegation drafted them, so yes, they're Asian American.
Im so use to it it doesn't even phase me.
Walter knows a lot about kpop
To a creepy, old guy who collects sexy anime figurines type level.
he's korean so it's p fair
With Asian celebrities, no matter how popular they get I feel that they are still only hitting a niche market. For example BTS. They are the biggest boy band in the world, and even then you chat with some people they're still asking who that is. Versus when BSB or NSYNC were at their height, even those who don't listen to that genre of music still knew who they were.
I think part of that is because with groups like BSB and NSYNC people knew their names as individuals from the teen magazines. Whereas BTS is mostly known as a collective. At least in America.
no both those groups you listed were the same thing. In 30 years that kpop listeners will be listening and a bunch of people will remember them. Just because it ends up popular doesnt mean it was good music it just catered super hard to girls and they know how to manipulate i dont know any guy who listens to kpop.
@@xazarl3381you completely missed my point. I'm not talking about liking their music, but just simply knowing about them.
Even the guys who hated BSB and NSYNC still knew who they were. Whereas they may not even know who BTS is.
lucy liu
Ryan’s hair Always on point
As a half Chinese Japanese I have not gotten racism in China and Japan
joe is right, gotta create your own idenity that people would love to have, but not get fucken stolen. this is what black people felt. they got a hold in the music industry tho.
For real... unfortunately I see the opposite happening, a lot of asian people basing their identity on how the west looks at asians
In the United States whenever they promote men from other cultures or introduce a new character for a show that’s a different race and culture due to the U.S. being ultra lgbt they always make that character part of that community because other cultures tend to be more traditional and fundamentalist than the U.S. whenever the introduce mixed men, Latino men or Black men they always heavily promote the ones that are gay or part of the LGBT 🏳️🌈 community because these cultures tend to be very anti LGBTQ or they just don’t promote this side of their cultures as much as Americans
I really enjoy the episodes with Walter! The conversation gets really interesting
Lucy Liu Steven Nguyen, Connie Chung, George Takei, Pat Morita..growing up white people especially my age and older knew some Asian famous people..I agree, numbers wise we’re a small group-also it seems like we tend towards more straightforward careers rather than performing or something that will make you famous, at least from what I can tell
Violence and Violins both getting out control 😂
Bring back the Asian Gangz.
Most famous?? Bobby Lee!!!
The Brothers Sun should've got more seasons...
The Nautica ⛵️ mention at the end hit hard lol
Those aren't real Asians can't even name a famous Asian person 😅 beside Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee wtf bruh
They said those that were polled that named Jackie and Bruce were Average Americans, not Asian people.
the genius Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park 🔥🔥🙌
Andrew Yang! Now that you guys had Tulsi on, try getting Andrew Yang on the show 😅
Keanu Reeves
Zach Morris is hapa?! I like him even more now 😍 I would've named all of JK and start naming Kpop stars 😂 wow the way you guys talked about the different nuances was really insightful I loved it!
Sandra Oh ("The Sympathizer"), Margaret Cho ("All American Girl" ABC sitcom before "Fresh Off The Boat"); the "Brothers Sun" (which got cancelled); "Beef" and the "Shogun" remake tv series. "Costco" & "Sam's Club" = great stuff. "We are (very) niche (like Jabbawockeez, the dance troupe or imported customized cars)." - Joe Hawaii (Jamaican) reggae culture = Jahwaiian "island music"
Pat Morita!
Very good conversation, stuff really is only gonna change when we have more Asians in America to support Asian American things.
So stupid imo.... now you are going to get a group of people pretending they like something just because its made by asians for asians
I did not know tyga was half Vietnam!
17:13 Mr.Beast with 200m+ : 👁👄👁
...Tila Tequila
I LOVE Hawaiian reggae music. Is becoming more popular and there is even festivals in Florida now, when it used to only be in the west coast like California, Oregon, Washington and Nevada.
Wait Simu Liu is Canadian right?
entertainment is cater to the majority and DRaaaaama
Its more accurate to use the term Chinese, not Asian.
Kpop has for real lost a lot of its charm. The English is a big part of it, but also a lot of groups are more visual and dance focused and less on the actual singing and music. But I think it's gonna turn around again. It seems like knetz and international fans have both had enough.
Also, I know y'all don't usually talk about kpop news, but I'd be interested in y'all looking at the current controversy with Hybe, the company BTS is under, as well as NewJeans. The allegations have been pretty crazy, including alleged cult association.
I'm here to say it's definitely not lost its charm here in the US. I'm an Atiny and a Stay, and I think K-pop is finally now being recognized here other than BTS when they had the hype over here for a bit. I'd like to hear their thoughts on that subject as well.
No kpop has not lost its charm. There are more white American fans than the Asian fans where I live here in the US. I agree however singing in English is helping this trend, although then it loses some aspects of why kpop might have appeared cool and different from the western counterparts. Now they just blend right in, so I kinda agree with you. It makes them less unique when they sing in English.
i heard that charli xcx is half Indian. also shogun was popular online.
I think we're thinking of american asian or theater. But if you ask the teens. They know a lot of the kpop and drama
We need data on asian bait as well.
Joe caught himself from saying gay at 9:33 😂😂😂😂
Straight up thought Bobby Lee as a famous Asian.
I would of said Dante basco or Bobby Lee
What’s the brand of Ryan’s jacket?
Dunbrooke Men's Blue and Tan Jacket (Google reverse image search is unreasonably good at identifying brands)
Michelle Phan I feel was the biggest youtuber at one point in the 2010s
Speaking of which, in terms of Asians and YT, Stephanie Soo.
Non of the asian movies that came from amerca were relatable to me or fun to watch...
Non of the "asian" movies/shows were meant to appeal to asians... they are just here to continue to create a perspective onasianas that the west already had towards asians.
gotta be real - asian population in the west are just too small. Not only that, too ethnically diverse and different between each group.
I blame Dion Lim for pushing the stupid AAPI.
I think the problem with representation is that Asian Americans haven't really blown up in the music industry. Sure Kpop is huge, but that's still in it's own field. Sure you can bring someone up like Joji but he's nowhere near a household name. Musicians are the people that really make themselves known to the world. Also I kinda get what Walter is saying. You need sex appeal too. So that's why Latin music has been on the rise, because you have an artist like Bad Bunny taking over, cuz he's putting out hits and women want him too.
They forgot miss swan haha
Ronnie Chang is pretty masculine for the comedy world
I love it when Bart does impressions 😂😂. Great video, guys! I hope we get to gatekeep Ateez lolol.
They did just like they have a lot of black characters on SNL always wearing dresses
I grew up in Seattle and moved to Richmond. I haven’t experienced racism. I am reminded that I’m different than the demographic here by the questions people ask though.
Having grown up in Richmond, it irritates me with the stereotypes that the South is racist. There are definitely pockets, but the South might be one of the least racist areas because it's been diverse for so long that no one cares. Now all the racism is from POC, but they've convinced themselves it can't be. People from border towns talking about getting jumped in high school by Latinos because they're white. The Black community attacking Asians or their own kids for acting white. Lawsuits going on because companies saying they'll fire white people first, or that one video game company where the head said she doesn't hire white people.
I grew up in Florida and moved to Seattle. Seattle have a lot of low-key racists masking it under the guise of allyship. In the South, I got the racists joke but I was always given the chance to prove myself. But in Seattle, I wasn't even given a voice. Seattle is literally WMAF Central, Asian men are literally invisible, Asian women with Asian men inherited that invisibility but not Asian women with White men. The hierarchy was very imposing everywhere you looked. In the South, I never felt that I was less than for my race or gender. in fact I was the cool Asian guy with military family background that loved fishing and hunting. I was appreciated for not fitting the mould. In Seattle, I was either invisible, emasculated or a product of toxic masculinity. It was always like I was being forced to fit into some mould for some woke c*nt's convenience.
Zack morris is half Asian?!!!😱😱
Ronny was born in Malaysia, Walter
Service Centre Asian.
I would’ve said Lucy Liu 😍🔥
Fresh off the boat

The answer to your question about more strong male “Asian” comics boils down to the simple fact that it’s not authentic. Comedy is American culture. To be better than or have less and laugh about it. It being that, it won’t garner any more success than what it has in the states bc the outside world doesn’t share that experience. They’ll emulate it.
Tbh the only asian comedians who make it are the ones who make asians look bad 📍truth in the details
I'm Korean American. I don't like kpop in English.
Koreans in Korea love ballads and hiphop

But asian women are loved by all races 😂

I don't think that Mark Goselaar is actually half-Asian. He's more likely to be a quarter Asian instead.
From wiki, it says that his mother is an Indonesian born in Bali with maiden name of Paula Van Den Brink. That sounds like a half-dutch name there. That's most likely why Mark Goselaar looks more like fully white guy instead of as he claimed half-Asian...because his mother is a half-Asian at best.
Ya should Google him and his mom. She is dark skinned South East Asian. Looks Filipino. Austronesian peoples are generally a mixed bag of genetics.
@@jamayil11 maiden name tells everything in Indonesia. Any Indonesian born with Dutch maiden names are at the very least half Dutch. So his mother is for sure not full Indonesian.
About skin color, it's always 50/50 chance with interracial kids. There are plenty of dark brown skinned Indonesian with Dutch blood in them. That's how gene works.
It's even possible for any of Mark Goselaar's gandchild to have brown skin, even if all his children are marrying white people. Such thing happens before with white parents who got one black skinned child, which turn out that one of the seemingly fully white parent's great grand parent is black.
@@jamayil11 btw, I know Indonesian culture and tendency, because I'm Indonesian. Unlike Philippines, Native Indonesian from places like Java, Sumatra, and Bali are not adopting western surnames.
Despite being under Dutch imperialists for 350 years, we didn't adopt Dutch naming sense. Only people who use Dutch surnames here are those who are either married to a Dutch man, or descendant of Dutch people. Dutch maiden name will always be used by people with Dutch parentage.
People from place like Maluku does adopt Spanish names to certain level though.
"Gosselaar has described himself as "half-Asian,” and mentioned collecting things from Indonesia."
Straight from his wikipedia page. His mother is full Indonesian.
@@GG-zb2fv Are you really going to debate about how Indonesian naming works with an actual Indonesian here? 😂
Mark is simply a bit mistaken about ascendancy. And that's something fine to be mistaken on because Mark simply didn't grow up in Indonesia. As for the wikipedia, in the first place, wikipedia writers are only writing based on their own limited information and knowledge. It just means that the wikipedia writer is also not someone who understands Indonesian naming culture and they simply writes based on what Mark himself says.
There is simply no fully native Indonesian with Dutch name unless they get it from a marriage. Dutch maiden name for native Indonesian is non-existent. Paula Van Den Brink is a name of someone that's either half or a quarter Indonesian/Dutch (depending whether it's her father or grandfather that's a Dutch guy).
People forget Dave Bautista is Filipino.
Its because he is cool... as soon as someone is not the stereotypical asian geek/femboy they wont acknowledge their asian roots
@@anwarkansil9103 Not to mention because Filipino actors don't fit the typical Asian stereotype Hollywood just casts them as Latinos. Lou Diamond Philips, Vanessa Ann Hudgens, hell even Dante Basco is guilty of that.
