The main man is back. Greg...👌 The time you must have taken in creating such splendid channel material will doubtless fall by the wayside for many. First class. Simply first class. Chin up...and carry on kicking butt chap. We all need each other to enrich life.
Oh, I loved this! As delightful in 2024 as it was, I'm sure, when Arthur Conan Doyle wrote it. I really felt that I was on that train listening to the rogue telling his tale. Your narration of this story does the author proud. I think ACD must smile with delight when he hears you speak his words. Both you and he are treasures! Thank you so very, very much.
Thank you for this upload! This is such a crisp, clear reading! I listen to your exceptional voice artistry each night; I genuinely can't imagine my life without Magpie Audio in it! Blessings from Nashville USA
Thank you Mr Wagland, You make my 3 houre long car rides quite the enjoyable experience every week that i have to make them. I especially enjoy your recent narrations of brigadier Gerard.
Nothing quite like Mr Wagland telling stories while I’m tucked up in bed with a cup of tea. I like other narrators and other authors but Greg and Arthur will always be my favourite. ❤️
But what did you read? My grandad and his cousin were huge, strong working men. But gentle. Non violent unless pushed far enough. Being Irish Catholics knew the value of learning as they were only 1 generation from the penal laws prohibiting Catholics from being educated. Their fathers had given them a love of literature they learned in the underground 'hedgerow' schools. Quiet. Witty. None of this was obvious from their physical appearance.
Cheers! 🎉from PNW, Cascadia. A BC to Baja Mexico kind fan who takes you along where ever I roam! #BLESSED When I my depression cycle is at its VeRY lowest, your narrations literally bring my mind, body & spirit to peace- it is a rare gift, & it has a lot to do with your story choices & just how much effort & information you put on your channel so this reference/research hobbyist feels connected to your process. ALL of what you bring here to YT on your channel is ABSOLUTELY APPRECIATED! Your narration is pure/purrfect! 🐯🐾🐚🪺🪻✨
Excellent! It"s even funnier because you see the end coming from a mile away, and yet you follow the rogue along... 😁 Thanks for reading and sharing! 🙏👍
"Thank YOU for reading!" is always my immediate response to your accustomed closing words. Thank you indeed! I was surprised about the crooks return of consciousness (as well as the narrators oblivion). To melt the family heirloom had been so mean and his glee so unabashed...
….That was exactly my reaction : the “meanness/cruelty” of melting family heirlooms-whose sentimental value far exceeded even their great monetary worth…..(I hate thieves )
Just so you know, your narration IS noticeably missed. One hopes, we see a horizon with future adventures from Magpie Audio in our future. Though, I DO DELIGHT in an ample library to return to, your voice had/has been a refuge of sorts through stormy weather. One hopes you are well! Cheers! 🍻🥃🍷☕️🫖
Greg, Ever considered the many works of Robert Louis Stevenson ?? Am currently reading The New Arabian Nights, section The Rajah's Diamond. Lots of material there.😊
Greg, you are still the best reader (voice actor) of them all. Take a look at Classic Detective Stories channel. It finds all sorts of authors, presumably out of copyright. Yet the speaker merely reads, doesn't act. 😢
@sherlock_holmes_magpie_audio I'd tell ya about it but I'm at my Croation Kolo dance class right now.We have a big folk festival coming up.Im sure you understand.
Conan Doyle obviously admires this kind of thief, this is a really entertaining story, assume he wasn’t ever a victim. Didn’t he write The Finger smith?
It's funny to hear that virtue signaling by imperialists was around then. They could turn a blind eye to their government robbing silver from other countries but suddenly get upset if someone steals silver from a fellow countrymen! Very similar to today's virtue signallers that cry about a speeding motorist or a foreign thief whilst they support the invasions of Iraq, Syria, Yugoslavia, Libya etc. Whatever makes them feel superior

It’s so good to hear you reading a ‘new’ ACD story Greg. Love all your work. 🤗🤗 from 🇨🇦👵🏻
Another ACD and more GW. 😄
🎉🎉🎉 Happy dance!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you Mr Wagland,
You make my 3 houre long car rides quite the enjoyable experience every week that i have to make them.

He's fun, isn't he?
Mahalo. Sound is great. Love the story. Never heard this before.

Thanks Greg, I really appreciate it and enjoy your narrations 🍀
Thanks Greg you narrate Doyles work so well
Your talent is so appreciated.
Brilliant, really appreciate your work.
Thanks Greg, this is a really enjoyable story.
Speaking of the reformed, Greg Wagland has the voice of an apex villain who went to rehab and now helps old ladies across the street.
Spot on
That's why he hangs out with me in Florida 😃
What a lovely surprise!😊😊
Brilliant as always 😁
Love hearing random Doyle stories!
"Rather dodgy geezer" may be the most British phrase I've ever heard.
😁
Yay!!! Thank you!!
In 1940 I met a salt water sailor. His wrist were so big, he looked like Popeye. You could read people back then.
True!

I was a sailor, a deck ape, (Boatswains Mate) it was our forearms that were huge not our wrists.
This is going to be a loooong story.
Cheers!

Hello
Not to rude or anything but what happend to this years Christmas story? Just sayin
😀
The Man just enjoyed playing the Game just for the sake of playing the Game 😂 😂😂 i do think I am a Bit OCD about ACD

Second class train? Are there no standards?
Seemingly not
You can't tell whether someone is an artist by looking at their face 🙄
Dee Thought 😒 🤔
Greg Waglands face is cute, Unless he doesn't shave 😮
That's right; but back in the days of this story, it was believed that you could tell this. I think this was called physiognomy.
Must be nice to be retired! Thats all Im sayin.
