If our new Chancellor wants to save the treasury a few quid why doesn’t she have a go at enforcing the law relating to the paying of VAT when you consume food on the premises in a coffee shop : currently this law is being illegally ignored by customers encouraged by staff who are worried about the completion . So the customer buys at the take-away price (ie with no VAT) but then remains in the shop, sitting at a table to illegally consume what he has only paid to take away with him. Getting this together will score a lot more money than knocking off old age pensioners
please remember that 1000 a month is a lot when you paid off your mortgage and get discounts on many bills. Most in this generation are fine. And those that are not will be helped. Chill.

I agree with the cuts to winter fuel (only poor pensioners should receive support, not rich pensioners), but why cut investment to infrastructure? Lack kf investment in infrastructure will hinder growth.
It's just the sheer scale of the black hole in the finances. Once they've got various other things under control they're almost certain to get going again on these projects.
The infrastructure projects they are cancelling are not major ones and not immediately necessary compared to the other infrastructure projects on the books. Also, the re-opening of some railways has not been completely scrapped, they are going to review the each of the lines currently suggested and pick and choose the important ones for now. Same is being applied for the hospitals.

We live in a country where some in full time work, including nurses, are using food banks. Means testing will certainly come for those currently of working age, and many of us are expecting to get no state pension at all.
I think they should have cut it for wealthy pensioners but not poor pensioners on less than 15k a year. Pension credit nes will still get it but they're in total poverty to start with. My first disagreement with their policies. It's not fair to take it off those on very little and basic pension is a pittance

It will never go down because that's not how inflation works. Inflation has fallen but that just means the price isnt increasing at the same rate, not that its falling.
It doesn't matter about that package. You can get 5L of clean water from Sainsbury for £1.50 or 3p per 100ml. Prices don't generally come down. That's not how lower inflation works. That's deflation. It is what it is. Some select products may reduce, but you shouldn't expect a typical shop to get cheaper. The main thing is that you have options in your budget.
