Scott, the first singer, is a baritone, but has a crazy range, both deep and high. When the bass of the group sings, Scott, sings the bass part. When Matt, the guy with the white jacket, was singing, Scott did the bass. Just a warning: It can be confusing sometimes because Kirstie (rhymes with thirsty) and Mitch (the high pitched male singer) change their looks A LOT! Sometimes it looks like they are constantly changing members, but the only member change is the bass. Avi, the original bass (2011-2017), left for personal reasons. Their new bass, Matt, is amazing. Kevin, the beatboxer is a graduate of Yale, plays world class cello, saxophone, and piano. HIs undergraduate experience took him to China for 18 months where he learned Mandarin and how to beatbox while he played his cello aka cello boxing. He was pre-med in college.
I'm sad that Avi left but I totally understand why. He had a family and was trying to start settling down but the group's schedule was just too much for him and taking him away from his family. I'd love to see them come together again for a reunion show or something.
@@ashleyallen4453 When you have to correct others, then at least say it right yourself. Her name is Kirstin. And she is called Kirstie (can compare it to a nick-name)
@@ashleyallen4453 she definitely is fine with being called Kirstie. Go watch their cover of Starships, she even says it herself. Honestly we’re happy (and so is she) as long as they don’t call her Kristy.
The first guy, Scott, is their baritone. It is Matt, the guy you heard do the slide to bass that is their true bass. Scott covers the bass line whenever Matt is singing lead. And Matt has gone falsetto on us. Kevin, the beatboxer, has a wonderful tenor, and can also go falsetto. Kirstie is a mezzo-soprano that can rise to soprano at need, and is their best belter, although all of them have the capability of belting if they wish. Mitch can do anything from the tenor through falsetto and countertenor, reaching fingers on a chalkboard high notes. He carries easily six octaves of range. They all have four and half to five octaves minimum. They can cover each other, blend where needed and in lead present their own persona, making that part their own. Just a little background on the group. Four of the five go back to the beginning on SingOff season 3 in 2011, Matt being the only change for their original bass Avi Kaplan who left the group in 2017 on amicable terms due to family health issues. He even participated in them finding Matt Sallee to take over as bass for him. If you want to see them at their best with him, Hallelujah, Bohemian Rhapsody and Daft Punk Medley (their first Grammy winner) are good ones to watch, as is Imagine. Just a few suggestions.
Welcome to the Pentatonix rabbit hole. React to any of their covers or originals and the Pentaholics will find you. You'll never be disappointed. Everything they do is amazing.
I sat here and watched your reactions to this group. I e been watching them for about 2 years. Listen to them sing Hallajuliah. It's awesome as all their songs are. Enjoy. 🆒💯♥️👂👂👋
This is the most believeble/real reaction I’ve watched! It’s really like we weren’t there! I loved the whole thing(including the cute, unconscious little wave to the band, at the end) awesome song and band, amazing reaction 😍🥰

always like seeing someone react to Pentatonix for the first time.... the talent is unmatched. Even if you're not religious at all, Amazing Grace and Carol of the Bells are two you should see just for the pure talent.
PTX is the bomb, many people consider them to be the best A Cappella group on the planet, their body of work speaks for its self ! Their newest MV is a cover of, " The Prayer " off of the Evergreen Christmas album, it is exquisite 😎👌
I saw Pentatonix and Home Free (check out Man of Constant Sorrow) live! When the Bass vocalists sang individually from both groups, it felt like thunder was bumping up through the floor! It was AMAZING! complete fire!
I see the 3 versions of this song that i love as wonderful and incredible because of their differences. The Simon & Garfunkel version is the warning, humanity is at risk and we need to be aware. This Pentatonix version is more hopeful, humanity is at risk but theres hope. The Disturbed version is very much, we've gone too far, humanity is done for. Each version is exceptional and i dont think we should compare them but see them as 3 separate messages, a warning, a glimmer of hope & despair. But thats just my personal opinion

They are an incredible group. Saw them live in 2018, they sounded exactly the same. If you react to some of their older videos you will see Avi, who was their original Bass but he left in 2017 on good terms. Then Matt came on board that same year the guy on the end with the deep voice. He is incredible also. Yes Scott in the middle has an incredible range and picks up the Bass parts if the Bass is singing. I love it when a good reactor finds these guys for the first time. They've been producing jaw-dropping 𝑎 𝑐𝑎𝑝𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑎 music for a decade now, and their selection of videos (with or without an actual music video) is substantial and can keep you occupied for a WHILE should you choose to dive in. The usual triumvirate a new reactor is recommended to listen to is: Daft Punk (a medley of 7 songs) Bohemian Rhapsody (which Brian May linked to on his home page when it came out with the word "enjoy.") Hallelujah (filmed in the Mojave Desert in extreme heat while wearing winter clothes because it was for a Christmas album - now THAT'S dedication...) Their newest song, and judging from the comments I've read on the official video and on every reactor video I've seen so far (around 25), their best ever so far is "The Prayer." The song was originally written for an animated movie called "Quest for Camelot" and sung by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli, and has been covered by WHOLE BUNCHES of people. That said, you literally 𝘾𝘼𝙉𝙉𝙊𝙏 go wrong with pretty much anything you chose to listen to. My personal favorites are "My Favorite Things," "Making Christmas," "Thank You," "Amazing Grace," "Mad World," and anything whatever off their "The Lucky Ones" album.
What a wild ride... I've been there since Sing Off days. I made a bet with my bff that they would win.... my pocket was lined with an extra $100 that night they were named! 🤣 can't believe it's been over a decade now.... it's really amazing how they've grown and fine tuned their technique. I'll always be a fan of theirs!
Just do more PTX and you'll get tons of us Pentaholics tuning in. Everything they do is simply top notch. The talent you saw, the creativity is astonishing, the meticulous attention to detail, the unselfish joy of performing. Hundreds of numbers and not a bad one anywhere. My personal favorite is Amazing Grace; it's a powerhouse but on the opposite end is Run To You an original or Can't Help Falling In Love....
Best a capella group ever. Remember there are no instruments. Kevin is doing all the instruments. Need to check out there: Bohemian Rhapsody Hallelujah. 🥰🎙🎼
Welcome to the PTX rabbit hole. I can see you will be a pentaholic real soon. We fans call ourselves Pentaholics. Have fun. My next suggestion is Bohemian Rhapsody.

Just joined.....love PTX....and yes check out their site , but The Prayer is amazing....imo...Grammy worthy!!!!
There are no words to explain my love for Pentatonix. Talented, phenomenal, musicians! 💜
The usual triumvirate a new reactor is recommended to listen to is:
Daft Punk (a medley of 7 songs)
Bohemian Rhapsody (which Brian May linked to on his home page when it came out with the word "enjoy.")
Hallelujah (filmed in the Mojave Desert in extreme heat while wearing winter clothes because it was for a Christmas album - now THAT'S dedication...)
Their newest song, and judging from the comments I've read on the official video and on every reactor video I've seen so far (around 25), their best ever so far is "The Prayer." The song was originally written for an animated movie called "Quest for Camelot" and sung by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli, and has been covered by WHOLE BUNCHES of people.
Need to check out there:
Bohemian Rhapsody
Hallelujah.

Watching people's reaction to Pentatonic NEVER gets old! You sold watch Daft Punk medley, it's INSANE! They recorded it in closet and the kitchen! And won a Grammy! I can't even with these guys!!
