I watch this man on youtube so much and trying to understand why he bothered to pass through our lives.....he was a gift. we are supposed to learn from him. I wondered how many of us did...
He seemed completely absorbed in his music; mind, body, and spirit. Absolutely beautiful. That kind of realness can't be denied. Yes, his music will live forever.
Incredible rare footage indeed! The master at work, the Wailers band was in another universe. Just listen to that drum, that bass guitar, that lead guitar by Al Anderson... This music is nourishment for the soul. Bob Marley is forever!

The whole group is like a finely tuned engine, each having a vital role, all working in harmony to produce that phenomenal sound. Im sure it took years to create and develop. knowing this Bob could take to the stage like a God, fully confident in their ability to move the hearts and souls of any man or woman who came within hearing distance. Extraordinary and Essential Robert Nesta Marley, authentic. Inmersed in his music. Bob was glorious with a lot of grace.. A real man not a fake man.. Fabulously fantastic

many, many years ago on a hot summer day in Brooklyn, my brother put this song on the turntable [yes turntable lol] and it was a wrap. this song was my introduction to reggae and Mr. Marley. to this very day, this song of all his beautiful songs of consciousness rings in my soul. he left us a vault of legacy and each song still sounds fresh though it was done in 1973. WOW.
Bob marley Aka tuff gong. The greatest man to grace gods green earth. What a blessing it was to have this man in our lives. Rastaman live on in the hearts of the people. Jah rastafari

Now that you say it like fair I kept thinking about this song even after I listened to it yesterday. I take it as the numbers being his journey towards spiritual enlightenment. It's much deeper than hair and I take it as this song is moreso about his spiritual journey. This journey manifests itself through his hair as freeform (as we Americans call it) locs grow in their own way. When caribbeans mention Babylon, its not a physical place but spiritual. "Natty dreadlock inna Babylon," is what i consider to be spiritual freedom (which is the journey that I mentioned earlier manifesting itself as hair) in the midst of a system that oppresses us as afrikan people. Wow, this song is DEEP! EDIT: this comment was originally a response to another brother. EDIT: When he mentioned going to first street (that was the beginning of his spiritual journey). Then he mentioned, "I've got to make it to 7th street." 7 can be considered to be a number of perfection and it is also the day of the Lord's rest." 21000 miles away from home is considered to be complete perfection because 7 × 3 is 21. And I take the number 3 as confirmation (someone correct me). 21,000 miles away from home means that he yas arrived. Or he's reached his highest self
"21,000 miles away from home" refers to how far "natty" (Africans) have been take from their land. The next verse, "and that's a long way for natty to be from home" laments the atrocity of enslavement in a foreign land.
