Bob Marley and Junior Marvin were so in the zone for this one! This is one of those songs I could listen to 1,000 times in a row and immediately be ready to go for another 1,000 🔥
Couldn’t agree more, this is one of my favorite live recordings of the Wailers. And the way Carlton Barrett plays this song, it is truly a masterpiece.
Tell me about it. I sometimes listen to this song just to hear the drumming. Carlton is my favorite drummer; it seems like he’s sending a message of healing and encouragement with his style of drumming; so much grove, so much vibe. This is drumming at its best
Bob had the whole Wailers musicians and the I threes on point live. 1977 at the Rainbow Theatre in Finsbury Park up the road from where i lived in Hackney. Wasn't old enough but always regret never hearing Bob live. Went from Hackney with my bruv in 82 i think it was would have been 13/14 to watch Black Uhuru with Sly n Robbie play live at Crystal Palace football ground. Black Uhuru them days were opening concerts for the biggest rock acts like the Rolling Stones.
Carlie and Aston had the "lock". Carlie could go anywhere on the kit, shift time, expand time, or just stay in the pocket and did, knowing Aston played that bass like building a structure. 💯 Solid.
Carlton Barrett, the brother of the bass player Aston- family man - Barrett , murdered in 1987 , the greatest drummer to ever walk this earth , even western drummers couldn’t figure out how he handled his drum set
I can't count how many times I have watched this video. First off, you can tell that guitarist was playing from his soul and I also wonder how Bob put this band together then again I ask myself if Marley knew he would go on to be the Greatest Of All Times. No one comes close to Marley 🙌🙌

That bass guitar, the drums, lead guitar, keyboard...the whole band is just Deadly!!! And this was back in the 70's!! Sounds way much better than any of the music been put out now!
Bob Marley is one of the few artists that will still influence generations in 100s of years time no matter if they are black white or Chinese, so talented and ahead of he's time it's actually crazy he must be looking from up there with a big smile in he's face
Back then. Imagine in the 1970s. Check the quality of the music, the dance of the King himself pure originality, smooth, highly energetic and spiritual. I am convinced he still remains the King of reggae and no one has taken his place as yet. Tears of joy will drop listening and watching such acts. Blessed are those who had the opportunity to attend this Live show and I know you will never forget the day..RIP Bob

A lot of people don't know he quoted a lot of the bible in his music. He read the bible all the time. He didn't subscribe to the Jesus as Saviour message though until the end of his life. His Rastafari school of thought was that Emperor Selassie of Ethiopia was a messiah but he then died, so I guess not. Selassie was actually a Christian and didn't like the Rasta's worshipping him and tried to send a missionary to tell them this. That's the time allegedly Bob gave his life to Jesus and got baptised. This is not well known though. So his understanding of God was that he was real, but who the messiah was went a bit off track earlier on. But whatever faith, we know he WAS GIFTED and used his gift; such an amazing musician, writer and singer!! So special. 💖💖 Will he be in heaven?? I HOPE SO!!

My favorite part of this amazing performance starts at 2:53 when he breaks in with HEY! The next minute or so before he comes back in with the vocals, him dancing and feeling the moment, with Aston "Family Man" Barrett and Carlton Barrett LAYING IT DOWN on bass and drums .. The crowd cheering and the energy he brings has the audience completely captured. And then the camera zooming in and then continuing past him into the distance, great videography visual there. The camera switching really was amazing in this concert.
I'm a rocker to the bones, 67, and many rockers I saw and still love, but Marley's concert in Montreal in 1980s was the most mesmerizing ever, it is infectious it is spiritual, an incredible presence. I watched this many times, what a great video this Rainbow thing
I cant believe that in 2020 I'm only now seeing this edit of this performance of 'Heathen' live at the Rainbow! I've had this concert on VHS since the late 80s and that edit is the only one I've seen until today! Incredible to see different views of the musicians on stage. This is wicked!!!
And he just throws in “ holy moly” as he sings like an rockin angel, he’s relaxed but on top of every note and carrying the melody perfectly. Brilliant
You don't have to be a big reggae fan to appreciate this, just a fan of good music and boy, is this good! The one and only Bob Marley, an absolute legend! 🤩
The Heathen... This song has so much of feelings related to my youth. Freedom. Party. Feeling good. Bob Marley is the best. An icon. So sad I missed to be at the concert...
I've never ever heard anyone talk about Marley as a soul, only by his music (which has graced this vile earth). It seems after research his soul came into this embodiment with the veil open. He knew his task(s) would be beyond difficult but he came and did it anyway, as a Boddisatva.. You can see the burden he carried on his face yet when he smiled it was the world lit up. His soul also utilized one of the best forms to reach all living things: music.
bama77beans said beautifully, better than the best. Bob Nester Marley, no one like him never has been, never will be, of course JAH knows all, sees all, hears all & I believe Bob knew God did. Awesome, can't say enough great things, about a "Great man", as 1 of his sons called him once.
No he touched many lives and continue to spread peace love and joy to mankind soul and spirits. I guess his job on earth was done and the higher Father called him to prepare a better place for us .
He quotes a lot of the bible in his music, most wouldn't realise it. He read the bible all the time. He just didn't subscribe to the Jesus as Saviour until the end of his life. His Rastafari school of thought Emperor Selassie of Ethiopia was a messiah but he then died, so I guess not. Selassie was a Christian and didn't like the Rasta's worshipping him and tried to send a missionary to tell them this. So his view of God was a bit off track earlier on, some of the time. But he WAS GIFTED and used his gift; such an amazing musician, writer and singer!! So special. 💖💖 Will he be in heaven?? I HOPE SO!!

Bob Marley is a legend coz he stands for the truth and truth never changes...Most people are materialist and pretend to stand for truth but sooner or later they filter right out.... Bob Marley ForEver

This is my favourite Bob Marley performance of all time
RIP "Family Man" (original bass player). My son was privileged to open for the Wailers a few years ago. ❤️
It’s 2023 and this song still has me by a chokehold …. It’s too good ✨✨✨

I love this man and this concert. Love is the answer. Love is the answer. LOVE IS THE ONLY WAY!!!
Love Bob Marley since I was a kid. English is not my first language and I was singing this all incorrectly.
Bob is that one person who brings you to church and you did not plan on going....now you got the vibrations and vibe on max....praise our creator and Bob and the Wailers for such masterpiece.

We're the survivors, yeah!
We're the survivors!
Yes, the Black survivors!
We got to survive, y'all!"
Prophet Bob Marley
jr marvin is plain awesome
This is church. It's the invisible church..😉
Junior Marvin's best album of all times. Saw him right before Covid and he's still JAMMIN! Peace on, brother..
SIMPLE ... HE WAS AND HE STILL IS THE BEST OF THE BEST ... NO ONE LIKE HIM EVER ....
1000%^^++^^^
100000000 %%%%%^^
The BEST there was
The BEST there will EVER BE
I cant believe that in 2020 I'm only now seeing this edit of this performance of 'Heathen' live at the Rainbow!
Brilliant
Dear Heavenly Father,
When I get to heaven,
Can I have an performance like this one on my entrance.
Amen.
Amen dear 😊

I think this song from not normal human, its pure magic, high class talent, perfect sound. From now and next year impossible to find this song again
Its amazing how this man does not have a bad song, ALL his songs are good truly amazing.
🌈 Jah Bless 🌈 This man DEFINITELY had the Holy Spirit of the Almighty God over him and his band!
You don't have to be a big reggae fan to appreciate this, just a fan of good music and boy, is this good! The one and only Bob Marley, an absolute legend! 🤩
Good music is good music
Marley’s music is timeless and relevant today as it was in the 1970’s. 🔥 Fire, Fire, Fire!!!!!
@@dr.edwardrsmith5855 Indeed!

Best song 😍 ever!!!!!!!!!!
Put this on blast for all of Russia to hear⚡️❤️🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
For me this is a strong war song. A song for soldiers to wake up from failure. To stay focused.
October 2024……still listening to this King and his Queens!!!
How fit Bob is, after dancing he grabs mic and sings without losing breath like he was on couch lol
For real. Wicked cardio from training, playing soccer and eating healthy.

The guitar player reminds me of my cousin. Pure natural and the man can play! Great Bob allowed Junior Marvin to shine for his talent!
Bob Marley dance and move the world ..... in ONE LOVE !!
Really, Bob Marley was a prophet indeed. If it's music, message, and inspiration, he (Bob Marley) has no size nor a competitor.
Bob Marley was a spirit he is not just making people feel good he is teaching them and inspiring them
The Heathen...
I think this is the live video I have seen most, it really shows how cool Bob was live. Someone please invent a time machine!
I was able to witness this man in 1978, what a show ❤️💛💚

At 3:34 chills went up my spine and tears came to my eyes... thank you for blessing the world with your soul and talent BoB Marley!
Sasha Forde that was deep from his spirit, he meant every word he said.

The bass, the guitar, the drums., bob dance.. Holy shit!!!❤
It’s a spiritual thing
Ce n'est pas un simple concert ou performance... C'est une expérience hautement spirituelle...🖤🖤🖤🎶
That bass guitar was hell outside the world that bass guitar connects one to inner spiritual world ....Spirutiality is real
Who is still here
?❤
Best concert from the seventies. Band plays on heights. Never heard Carlton Barrett play better. Guess this is Marly at his best.
Classic!! Come on, Jamaican women, take a look at Jamaica roots. No tattoo, no false lashes, simple class. Thank you, Bob..
That damn Junior Marvin is something else! The entire band is incredible
He was wailing on that guitar beautifully.
For me it’s Carlton Barrett - he’s just awesome on those drums….
@rufdymond yes of course he's great also, THEY ALL ARE! I'm just saying that Junir brings that energy to the band that was needed
Aston!??lol❤
Very wonderful performance. I wish bob still lives today. A true legend. Prophet Marley

No he touched many lives and continue to spread peace love and joy to mankind soul and spirits. I guess his job on earth was done and the higher Father called him to prepare a better place for us .
It is amaizing how spiritual his music his. It lifts you up. Bob & the wailer are unique.
Midnite did the same...but the women Wailers voices singing backup...Just Wow!!!
So special. 💖💖
Will he be in heaven?? I HOPE SO!!
Most powerful voice I ever Heard from a human being crying for equal rights
Facts
Honestly George
Right🙌
Yeeesss!!
Yeah he's all good, but I could listen to Carlton endlessly
One of the greatest if not the greatest bands and artiste of all time in my humble opinion. Out of the brutality of slavery and colonialism came this mighty genre and culture ❤️🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲jah bless
Junior Marvin is in a class of his own. Trotting while skilfully striking the strings. It's only a master who can do that.
I'm 💯 % with you my Brother!!!

Bob Marley is a legend coz he stands for the truth and truth never changes...Most people are materialist and pretend to stand for truth but sooner or later they filter right out....
Bob Marley ForEver
Wow!! Bob and this guitarist took it to another level!!. Serious ting.
❤ I’m a born again Christian…and my Brother what you are singing about is the truth.. One love ❤
The Hon Robert Nesta Marly O.M. was the real deal till he passed away, he will always be missed by our generation and many generations to come, he was truly the "head cornerstone".
As a Caribbean living in the concrete jungle of Canada trying to make it, this song became my warrior song. Before an interview , a business meeting , ect... I listen to it and everything always worked out well. Guess Bob was always by my side. Now leaving the life in Africa.
Junior , Junior, Junior. Man!! What’s a performance. That guitar, the bass, and the king in his element. 🔥 🔥
J'avais 6 ans lorsque je mettais le vynil de mon père "exodus" et ce premier morceau d'anthologie .... il résonne encore.... comme natural Mystic... merci Mr Marley
