Absolutely love this video. Glad you didn't want folks thinking that it was always raining! I live in Christchurch and do go out tramping but on far less challenging adventures 'cause I'm bit of a wuss. Thanks for showcasing our Island so beautifully.
😂 yes you would know, it really doesn’t always rain here. We have some spectacular weather! No chance of rainy camps at the moment. Canterbury could have really have done with some rain a couple of days ago to sort those fires out.
This hike and camp rates just as highly with me as any rainy, snowy, and cold camping trips. You are always showing us beautiful terrain and other scenery during your outings whether they be in the pouring down rain or the sunshine and dry ground. You have a great personality and a very good presence for video producing and presenting so there is no need for you to feel compelled to be uncomfortable while on your outings. I enjoy all of your videos. Take care and thanks for taking us along with you once again.
Thank you very much. I am finding my way with my own style and realising the best thing is to do what I love with enthusiasm and authenticity, and that will attract those who want to see it. I appreciate your supportive words.
This is my favourite one so far. You are getting better and better and more vids out is a massive plus. Quality is improving exponentially. Not finished yet but so glad you didn’t cut it early and not show us the breakfast. I prefer watching till back in the car and even driving home as it feels like we have been on the full camp journey with you. Tummy tickles for Indie ❤
I don't mind seeing fireplaces because that tells me that someone successfully camped there before so maybe I can too, but seeing trash left behind gives me a fit, there's no excuse for it. Wonderful to see sweet Indi having a good time in such a beautiful setting!
Now that's a good point about the fireplace. I'm with you on the trash thing. One item I can believe might have dropped or been missed accidentally, but a bunch of stuff, hmmm, just lazy people, sigh.
Didn’t want the video to end, it was fantastic, the views on your walk in, at the top and the walk down 🤩. And Indi enoyed it so much. Thank you for this video.
Thank you Kelly. I am really glad you did. This one was a big mission for me. I don't usually tramp that far when I am videoing. This trip really was a highlight. It is such a special place. I am so grateful it is one I can take Indi to.
💚💜💚💜💚A HUGE thumbs up for an absolutely amazing episode and adventure. Big respect to you for your incredible hike and camp. I'm so happy to see you made it all that way, so spectacular 👍👍👍💚💚💚💜💜💜
Very sadly, Dame Edna won't be returning for her sunglasses. On a lighter note though, another amazing video, totally enjoyed it. Thanks Cathy & Indi these longer videos are the tops. ❤
You are amazing!! 🤩 Thank you for this video. You are showing us spectacular scenery, adventures in the mountains, fantastic skills and knowledge and your sweet interaction with your dog. I just love your YT channel!!❤❤❤
Yes one of my favourites. Great effort to the top. Such nice scenery. How can you not feel good in a place like those mountains. Awesome camp spot. More of those please in the snow would be even better. Thanks Cathy. 🌹🌹🏕️⛺️
Thank you, that is good to know. In reality I think it will be a fair weather, views and wide open spaces camp about every 4th video or so, just to break it up, and take opportunities when there is no rain on the forecast.
What an amazing camp. Loved the walk to the top and the lookout was epic. Also loved the shelter-less setup, reckon it does justice to the surroundings. Cheers.
I’ve been binging your videos and can’t get enough! This was one of my favs and deserves so much more views! You’ve inspired me to get out and go camping again which I haven’t done in over 10 years! Thanks for all the content
Thank you so much Jack. I agree, this trip was really cool and hard work. I thought it might be more popular, but that's fine because I think the people who are watching it love it, so that is worlds more important to me than lots of views for views sake. Thanks so much for the encouragement. Cathy
Breathtaking views Cathy and it was certainly an epic trip. I am enjoying the variety of adventures you are doing plus learning a bit a long the way. Keep adventuring, this channel deserves to grow! (and Indi is a wee precious little lass)

Great hike and camp. Alcohol does not have to be present for it to be an exciting adventure. I like sleeping out under the stars too. Keep it up. Thanks.
I thoroughly enjoyed the ‘cowboy camp’ with no tarp, out in the open enjoying nature. As for your sweet Indie, to keep her safe you might need to hang a bell on her collar or a bright orange bandanna around her neck. That way no one can mistake her for a wild game.

Well another amazing video ty you and indi seemed to love this as I loved watching it you have a very beautiful country I'm lucky aswell as I stay in Scotland and we have beautiful mountains too. Sending love from Scotland
😁 yes, you are so right. I end up walking a whole lot more setting up, getting the shot, going back for the camera, etc, over and over. There is quite an art to it. I love it really, it’s a good challenge.
Thank you so much. Oh yes, absolutely, beech forest, mountain, river ...ahhh, pure bliss. I love your channel icon photo by the way. That spots looks amazing.

Awesome and stunning views..the joy 😊 on your face shows how much you genuinely are enjoying your trips. Being in Florida the views almost look fake. 😆 Thanks so much for sharing. As always fantastic job 👏. ❤️
Love this video! I love in the midwestern USA, where we dont have moutains like this! We generally camp at state park state forest campgrounds where we can just drive to our site and set up the tent. A couple summers ago we did canoe to a remote campsite in northern Wisconsin. That wasvour most rustic camping experience.
a canoe trip is such a foreign concept to me. I love how different people around the world do different things with camping depending on their environments.🙂
That was a climb but worth it for the fantastic view. Pity people can’t leave a place as they find it and should leave no trace. Hope the person appreciates getting the sun glasses back. Indie is one tough dog.
Yes I am hoping I made that person's day. It's a pain when you lose something. Indi is a tough nut, although she slept and slept the day after. No nagging for a walk. Funny that.
I love your videos. I'm actually happy you did a "rain free camping". I get it, it can be fun, but it seems like all UA-cam camping videos by numerous creators are always in the rain. It's actually a nice change of pace to see camping with sun. I love the mountain views. Where I live in the States we don't have those type of views. I love to camp myself and wish I had the views you have!
Thank you. Yes I know what you mean, there is quite a bit of 'against the elements' camping on You Tube, me included. It is interesting because new viewers are drawn to videos where there is an element of 'over coming' and/or a sense of hunkering down in a cosy camp against the elements. Once you have followers they love and watch the fair weather adventures with enthusiasm, but getting those new viewers on board often means appealing to that element of the human psyche. Fortunately I love all camping!!

Great video again! Hi Cathy and Indi. Hope you’re well👍. Sending this on Thursday at 23.30 British time. Well, After record temperatures of 17 C at the weekend they have now dropped to seasonal norm of 3 C as a write this, and the gritters have been out, so a slight frost is expected I guess. I love March here (your September) as things are coming back to life here already because of weather patterns. I am looking forward to you next adventure! Also looking forward to New Zealand v Australia in the cricket next week. I can watch it in England 🏴 on TNT sports 🏏 Keep well Rgds Simon.
Thanks Simon. Yes there is something very special when you catch glimpses of spring approaching. The first few blossoms, lengthening days. I love that time of the year, it is so full of anticipation and promise. I hope you enjoy the cricket, we love an Aussie Kiwi sporting rivalry (sort of, Aussies often win, darn).
You are so right, it would be great to give you a 360 degree impression as it is hard to capture. It was steep, very steep, although there weren't many spots where I felt unsafe. Fortunately the wind was not too strong.
Great Video Cathy what an Adventure I wish my dogs would settle down as good as Indi when its time to do so.(Border Collies) Look forward to the next one.
I think I might have to lucky hey. She has get up and go but likes to chill out when the work is done. I don't need to worry about her, which is a great relief when there is lots of other things to be thinking about.
Ha ha, yes I bet. We seem to bundle all water source terms (creek, stream, brook) into just the one term. Every flowing water source is a river whether you step over it or drive over it.
Absolutely beautiful video! I don’t know how you do it you are one tough lady! Thanks for the trip I know it is not easy to film and hike but you do a great job and we appreciate it. Looking forward to the next one stay safe
Thank you. I am constantly fascinated by the wonders the body can achieve and I think that is what I like about challenging trips, it is so rewarding to push yourself just a tiny bit out of your comfort zone so you can look back and say "wow, I did that". It's a great feeling.
@@adventureot You are most welcome.I am pleased it will help.Thankyou for sharing the beauty of Newzealand. What an amazing place it is.Just like the rest of the world its jyst a shame we have such useless people in charge.I am sure that will change one day 👍
Thanks Beck. Chamois (pronounced Shammy) is like a buck or goat type of animal, originally from central Europe (Pyrenees area I think). They are introduced to New Zealand and a pest because of the threat they have to our ecosystem, so you can hunt them.
Hi Cathy and Indi! Once again another awesome video! I’ve been watching a lot of your videos lately and I noticed I never see you filter your water. So my question is, do you filter or boil your water off camera?
Thank you! Most of the places that I go to are remote enough that filtering the water is not required. I do boil it if I am in a popular area, if there is a hut somewhere upstream, and always if I take water from a lake/tarn. I often don't show that though.
Fantastic mountain video cath why are you only allowed to bring your Dog to certain parks its OK in Scotland we have laws called the right to Rome heer 🏴🏴
It's due to the very sensitive nature of our ecosystem. Because NZ broke off from Gondwanaland so early in the piece our species were isolated without predators for pretty much ever, until humans arrived and introduced them. A badly behaved dog can wreak absolute havoc I suppose.

That's so bizzare, I hadn't noticed that when I was editing. At first I thought it was a rain drop on the lens but it looks like a blur feature, so I'm guessing that I've removed it from a clip and accidentally dropped onto another part of my editing time line. Nothing exciting unfortunately.

That would be hard to get the conditions spot on for a good camp.
Thanks
Wowsers!!! Thank you too Phil. This is amazingly generous and will really help out with the channel. Thanks so very much. Cathy
@@adventureot You are most welcome.I am pleased it will help.Thankyou for sharing the beauty of Newzealand. What an amazing place it is.Just like the rest of the world its jyst a shame we have such useless people in charge.I am sure that will change one day 👍
Nice! Hard work for us 😁 what is a shemmi?
Thanks Beck. Chamois (pronounced Shammy) is like a buck or goat type of animal, originally from central Europe (Pyrenees area I think). They are introduced to New Zealand and a pest because of the threat they have to our ecosystem, so you can hunt them.
@@adventureot ahhh..I get it..yes we know those as cloths we use mostly for cars lol
Yes, that it.
Fantastic mountain video cath why are you only allowed to bring your
Dog to certain parks its OK in Scotland we have laws called the right to Rome heer 🏴🏴
It's due to the very sensitive nature of our ecosystem. Because NZ broke off from Gondwanaland so early in the piece our species were isolated without predators for pretty much ever, until humans arrived and introduced them. A badly behaved dog can wreak absolute havoc I suppose.

55:09 what is that blurred in the middle?
That's so bizzare, I hadn't noticed that when I was editing. At first I thought it was a rain drop on the lens but it looks like a blur feature, so I'm guessing that I've removed it from a clip and accidentally dropped onto another part of my editing time line. Nothing exciting unfortunately.
Do your children ever want to go with you ?
For the camping and adventure, yes, for the being on camera, no way. When I take them I don't film.
@@adventureot well it's nice they go anyway 😁
Thanks
You are so welcome! And thank YOU very much for this😊
