My mother is scared to death of these. If one gets in the house, she ready to move. Somehow I didn't inherit that from her. I think they're cute. And whenever one gets stranded in my house, I don't disturb it. I watch it hop all around my room, changing colors.
you can keep a large leaf plant in your room and mist it for the anole, a little dish of meal worms and you have a free ranging pet. i would do it but cats...you know
Aw I love anoles! When I was younger my mother got 3 of them for me and my brother, we liked to spoil them lol and they were always eating. I enjoy reptiles. Thanks for this informative video with these very smart herpetologists.
The Hawaiian language has no silent vowels so we here in the islands pronounce the "e' at the end so ah-noh-leh = anole' rolls off the tongue much smoother almost musical sounding. We also pronounce aloe from aloe vera ah-loh-weh. We have the Southeast US Green Anole, the Puerto Rican Brown Anole, and the Giant Knight Anole. They are all non-native invasive species but we love them anyways. Hawaiian mythology has any tales of mythical lizards called Mo'o moh-'oh some of which were female demi-gods that transformed into beautiful women, and some some were giant Godzilla sized monsters like Mokoli'i the defeated monster who's tail tip is exposed forming Mokoli'i island in Kane'ohe Bay, O'ahu island. Many lizards in folklore but no indigenous lizards in the islands. The little Mo'o Anole will do fine.
I love these lizards. I live in central South Carolina, and we always called them "chameleons", even though we knew better. They are often seen on spring mornings, sunning themselves on the wall of my house. I've been fortunate enough to see them mating on a low-hanging tree branch, as well as catching flies.
I live in New Orleans and we have lots of these little guys around. I was sitting on the back deck early in the morning, about sun up. The bugs are attracted to the light and land on the wall of the house soon the lizards appear and catch the bugs. This morning there were two lizards on the wall. I at first thought they were fighting over territory. But soon one mounted the back of the other and I decided they were mating. Fascinating! I call them my dragons.
I have 3 Green Anoles as pets now but have been caring for them off and on since I was in middle school. They are honestly my favorite reptile next to bearded dragons. They are so personable. I remember when I would catch them wild when a kid. If I missed a catch they would move just out of reach and taunt me with their push-ups and dewlaps. They definitely have some character to them. I can tell mine apart by how they act.
I've seen a large ,common, one at the Alamo, Bella our resident cat was batting a rather large one and it was hissing at her since they know that shes a spoiled cat.
Huh I didn't Know Anoles were capable of facilitative Bipedal movement. Look at 2:05 and when that lizard runs away. Its Running On its Back Legs like a Tiny Godzilla! Edit: Another Anole runs on its back legs at 3:13
Wednesday Addams brought me here! I had read recently that on the Addams Family TV show, along with a black widow, Wednesday Addams had an Anole as a pet that she named "Lucifer" :-)
They are a very emotive lizard. Almost to the point I don't like them. Hear me out. I used to work A/C in Central Florida so I was outside everyday. I'd see these things everywhere. I'm on my knees in dirt or gravel installing a condenser and look up on the tree and from the branch looking down on my is an anole with his little smug face as if saying "Pathetic".
I have two green anoles as a pet one male one female AND THEY ARE AWESOME X3 I love anoles but whenever I ask someone if they know what a anole is they say “a what” ;w;
pro tip everyone, they are not pronounced like they are in this video, they are pronounced like " Anolie" its weird, but thats the more scientifically accurate way to pronounce them but nobody really does.
They used to sell them for pets at the local dime store. Now I live in Florida and they are all over the place. Very cute !

@@lunarminx That's a good idea. I love anoles they're adorable. But I'd have to keep them away from my Bearded Dragon, cause he'd eat them.
I also think they are cute but my mom is so afraid of them which is silly
4:23 He put the lizard in the bag like he’s about sell weed lmao
i was gonna say…. did he just strangle that poor thing

They are free all around us. I have never seen one caged. 😮 Anoles are so personable! I always feel they are researching me. 😀
My cat hunts these. My daughter and I have saved several of them from certain death.

I like the name lol
Of course, what none of these so-called "scientists" would even consider doing is just leaving these wonderful creatures alone.
