  • I feel that this texture is one i would never recommend. I would however recommend ( kids play sand) mixed in paint to your liking for a better application. The sand does not flake off like the fake stone in this application!

The whole outside if my house has this texture on it think come to find out. I figured out my own solution I bought a bag if pearlight mixed it in primer and shit it out of a hopper matched perfect if I crushed the pearlight enough

What if you painted it first and then went back over with the stone mix... would that help deplete splotching?

I did paint the walls first coat without stone mix to make it quicker to apply. The paint also dries quick so as soon as you roll over the top of it starts to pull the stones off the roller. I found that the splotching occurs most after going over an area not completely dry. But very little stones come off the roller unless you go over areas that are still a little wet.

It’s actually supposed to be mixed in with a thick primer before applying your coats of paint

well the box states mix with paint. always good to prime the walls before hand if needed. Mixing it with a thick primer may give better results might have to do a comparison. Anyways the stones still come of easy i’m sure.

The application method dominates the final look, there is a special roller from BHER will make the results fabulous

I have not experienced with any rollers out side of the few different nap rollers available at stores. I do know rollers with patterns are avail for mud textures . I have used a sand mixture to another home and was very happy with the results it was premixed by a different manufacturer. I have also had great results applying a texture with premixed mud and a heavy nap roller since this video.

He’s using the wrong roller for this project.

Fucking mix the stone mix with a gallon of primer . After that shoot it with a hopper and then paint. Thank me later

Im sure that would help a little. The stones are styrofoam so anything that touches them they break/ fall. The homeowner was happy with them because no one would be touching her walls anyway, unlike at my home. The Sherwin Williams paint was thicker than some primers i’ve used in the past. Spraying was not an option here.

I hate when I walk into a job and see this type of texture. I always try to talk the homeowner into orange peel instead. I'd rather skimcoat the whole house than use this product. It's rather inconsistent. FTS!!!

      direct from the box :
Roll-On Paint Texture. Cover unsightly walls and create a decorative stone finish quickly and easily. Simply mix the aggregate with one gallon of paint and apply the texture with a conventional paint roller or textured paint roller. Safe for use on drywall, paneling, cement block and wallpaper. Coverage approx. 100 sq. ft. 👍
