Lee Grant was my favorite murderess on “Columbo” and the wonderful Billy Goldenberg score makes this episode one of the seminal entries for the series. How wonderful that Miss Grant is not only still alive but still so lucid, having the interest to showcase such valuable insight into how she approached her portrayal of Leslie some 53 years later (!) What a treasure she is, all those memorably beguiling performances she gave! I recall seeing her age 10 in the theater when I went to see the Gregory Peck film “Marooned”.
Totally agree. My writing partner Scott Skelton conducted that interview for the ill-fated Columbo Blu-Ray audio commentary. The interview was recorded last year when Ms. Grant was 97 years-old. Lee Grant is a marvel and an example for all of us.
I'm so thankful for this commentary from Lee Grant. Her episode is the quintessential Columbo episode and they were inventing it on the spot. The difference between the first pilot movie and this one, and this is the way his character stayed until the end, messy and confused. And the lemon soap bit is such a classic. ❤
Did Leslie Williams go to the gas chamber? Or was her murder sentence commuted to life in prison without the possibility of parole when the death penalty in California was held to be unconstitutional.
Lee Grant was SENSATIONAL in this...her acting is always restrained, composed, elegant, understated...one of our last superstars...
Agreed. Lee Grant was one of the best 'Guest Murderers' on Columbo.
One of my favorite TV episodes across all TV shows of all time. Such a solid performance. Lee was just fabulous in this.

You're welcome! My Columbo co-author Scott Skelton conducted the interview with Ms. Grant and did a great job!
I'm so happy to hear this. I was also very attracted to her, who wouldn't be? Thank you ❤️
❤❤❤❤❤❤Lee Grant
Such a treat, thank you for sharing!
Our pleasure!
Brilliant commentary!
Agreed. Lee Grant is the best!
She's freaking 98 years old. Holy s!!!
And sharp as a tack!
Lee Grant is brilliant and wonderful in everything she does. And she is my favorite Columbo villain of all time!❤❤❤
Totally agree! Lee Grant and Peter Falk had amazing chemistry together. No wonder that Lee Grant was nominated for an Emmy for her Columbo role!
She's almost 100 years old. A great episode in being a sociopath.

Being a good lawyer, Leslie probably dragged out the appeal process long enough until California repealed the Death Penalty.
A root beer?
It was either that or ginger ale. :-)
