Off the bat I can tell this was the beginning before becoming main stream. I can tell immediately how excited, thrilled and happy they were performing this live. It's pretty awesome to watch!
+Matthew Miller That's right! I kind of figured out how to play all of the songs they play live. "Talk" was the most difficult. Takes some serious concentration to play it!
You know that the same indie bros that were nodding along saying this was "fresh" back then are the same kind of people today saying this song is too "mainstream" or too "pop"
I love how tight they are when they start - all on the exact same beat and Bam! Their energy is great...must be amazing to have an audience sing the lyrics back.
One of my friends used to mix his backing tracks in mono and hard pan the track to one side and the click to another, and have a Pod coming from his laptop and then his lead would come out whatever side the backing track was panned in the mono output so he could still hear the track and the click in his headphones but only the track would be sent to the front of house.
It's strange, it's like they have two versions of chocolate for their live performances. I saw them a couple of days ago at Heaven (small venue) and they played a much more rocky fast past style of the song. Whereas here, like at Radio 1 big weekend, they played a very flat and chilled version.
this is still my favorite live performance of them...I saw them on conan the other week and I feel like they had no energy at all but this was just awesome
I was there up in "the church" seating at the back. Great gig. Saw them at Sound Control that year too. Haven't seen them in a stadium or arena since the screaming girls and mobile phone army took over. I very much feel I saw them 'at their very best'.....
Really love this song. But that lead guitarist doesn't really play much else besides that one riff. Just goes to show how important the bass can be when bridging a melody with the drums. Even that chord progression by the bass can emote so much with the vocals. Impressed with the simplicity of the arrangement.
Some one sounds annoyed that his voice is not louder than the crowed lol It’s my gig sound like everyone’s gig wish I was there for that night . YEH IN THE CHURCH
Why are you acting as if you're writing a letter? The band's called 'The 1975' and the song 'Chocolate'. Their first album is out in September and it's self titled. They're from Manchester woop
Do you know hoe he gets a separate click mix? I am trying to have this set up for my band, but cant think how I will separate the Click and Front of house mix
Hi my name is Aaron! Please help!!! I've never heard this before so is it the name of the song or group? Further, what album did it come off & are they still around? If this is music from '1975, I truly don't remember it!!! I need a album title & group name. I clicked like, but I need more info, thanks, Aaron Norfolk, VA
Who's here after the Zane Lowe interview?
Yup yup
Yep haha
Yuuuup

Anyone else just come from the Beats 1 Interview where him and Zane reference this gig? 😅 …
So many people are gonna be here watching this because of that Zane Lowe interview. incredible video!!
Off the bat I can tell this was the beginning before becoming main stream. I can tell immediately how excited, thrilled and happy they were performing this live. It's pretty awesome to watch!
Durrrrr all the real fans saw this before they blew up
The band is called 'The 1975' and their debut album will be released next month.
To think that they would become a successful band and play big arenas full of people. I just love them my fav band ever!
That fill at 2:38 omg. I wanted to thumbs up the guy that shared my same thought in the comments. I'm a drummer too and that was magic
+Matthew Miller word!
George is a sick drummer. It's difficult to figure out the sticking in some of The 1975 songs
+Matthew Miller That's right! I kind of figured out how to play all of the songs they play live. "Talk" was the most difficult. Takes some serious concentration to play it!
Oh yeah Talk is tough!
+Matthew Miller A tricky paradiddle :D
here from the most recent Zane Lowe Interview this is maddd
Same haha
You know that the same indie bros that were nodding along saying this was "fresh" back then are the same kind of people today saying this song is too "mainstream" or too "pop"
on a 1975 binge, love how Matty is so considerate to every audience he plays
The fill at 2:39 is a thing of beauty. Sick drummer.

I love how tight they are when they start - all on the exact same beat and Bam! Their energy is great...must be amazing to have an audience sing the lyrics back.

this song has the same sensation to me as actual chocolate, so good my god
Did they get popular during this period? It was so genuinely pure
Wow this is amazing
One of my friends used to mix his backing tracks in mono and hard pan the track to one side and the click to another, and have a Pod coming from his laptop and then his lead would come out whatever side the backing track was panned in the mono output so he could still hear the track and the click in his headphones but only the track would be sent to the front of house.
Zane Lowe interview reminded me of this video
I love this song
matty's smile...u could see he's really into the performance ::)
GOLD
I love how this video is black and white, just like the Chocolate video. :)
It's strange, it's like they have two versions of chocolate for their live performances. I saw them a couple of days ago at Heaven (small venue) and they played a much more rocky fast past style of the song. Whereas here, like at Radio 1 big weekend, they played a very flat and chilled version.
I so hope to see them in Hamburg this november. they are awesome! matts voice is just incredible.
wow, love you guys so much!
It seems not that long ago now! Man I kinda miss it
Seeing them in September! :D
Alot of people dont give much credit towards the bass. Now imagine this song with out a bass... see how important bass is now. Try it with other songs
this is still my favorite live performance of them...I saw them on conan the other week and I feel like they had no energy at all but this was just awesome
Hope they're coming Ireland soon, would like to see them live
This is so good
Lots of drummer use laptops for that, knowing that doesnt make him a fanboy, just makes him informed

I love this band and especially this song. Thanks for sharing. :-)
I was there up in "the church" seating at the back. Great gig. Saw them at Sound Control that year too. Haven't seen them in a stadium or arena since the screaming girls and mobile phone army took over. I very much feel I saw them 'at their very best'.....
2:33 hahahahaah he didn't want to sing that part 8D
It doesn't necessarily have to be a Pod, that's just what he had at the time. Just any sort of of audio interface will work.
so good
came to see what he was referencing
"it's my gig" 😂😂
Really love this song. But that lead guitarist doesn't really play much else besides that one riff. Just goes to show how important the bass can be when bridging a melody with the drums. It’s my gig sound like everyone’s gig wish I was there for that night .

Loved the way he dismissed the girl who reminded him of their kiss. Did he have a memory lapse?! 😳🤔🤣
Hi Adam! Great video! Can I use this content for a project I am working on?
Fucking amazing
Do they have the same setlist the entire year? So I've got an idea of what to expect. Thanks for answering by the way!

her : yeh u fookin kissed me!"😂
Why does the drummer have a laptop beside him? Im guessing its for some sort of tuning.
Impassable number being made like 777 dislike 7
Holy moly!
I was thinking this, what do you mean by pod? as in Line 6 pod?
Does anybody know which synth Mathew’s using?

yeah because laptops existed in 1975...........
Drums aren't a guitar, you dont retune them during the show unless something terrible happens.
awesome quality for a live band. cheers for the upload
