- If you have been driving around Oak Brook I’ll or more specifically Oak Brook Mall you've probably seen a TON of construction going on. Oak Brook Mall has come back to life after Covid-19 pandemic and there is all kinds of activity as far as new projects. There is a ton of construction going on right now in Oak Brook IL.

On the south east side, Oak Brook Commons is being built on the old McDonalds property.

Project description: Oak Brook Commons will be a mixed-use development on the former McDonald’s Plaza site. This 17.5-acre multiuse project is planned to include 250 apartments, 104 condos, a 252-room hotel, three restaurants, office and retail space, and park space. The Master Plan for this Oak Brook, Illinois project has been developed in collaboration with Hines.
Restoration Hardware is being built on the south side of the Mall in a large open portion of the parking lot.

Puttshack, an upscale, tech-infused mini golf experience, has signed a lease at Oakbrook Center, Brookfield Properties’ shopping and entertainment center in Oak Brook, Illinois. Puttshack Oak Brook is currently slated to open in late 2020.
On the north side of the mall, Lifetime fitness is building a Diamond level club near the old Sears store. It's expected to open in 2021.

What a mall this once was. Marshall Fields, Lord and Taylor, I Magnin. Saks, Neiman Marcus and then...once upon a time. Bloomingdales. May some of them RIP. We used to drive from Milwaukee to Oakbrook (and Woodfield) to do some power shopping in the 1970's to 1990's. I miss them at Christmastime the most. Some of the best decorations on the planet!
I worked at the McD HQ building that was that was torn down...Building Engineer there for 7years....
I used to work at York and 22nd St and would be around that area all the time. Now that I moved away, it’s nearly unrecognizable!!
They made so many new developments across from the Drake Hotel - and the Hotel is open again and more busy than ever!

I love the opening money shots of the Oak Brook skyline 🌆 even with McDonalds gone, it’s gonna be the biggest business district outside the Loop!

So Kidzania is officially not happening? Their Facebook page kept stating it was going to open in 2019, then 2020 with further delays. COVID can’t be an excuse any longer.
I heard it’s not but I guess there are developers interested...even with the place still inside!
Go figure I'd get my FIRST and hopefully not last REAL job in one of the most expensive places to live...eat at the Macdonald's right by the companies HEADQUARTERS. Get told I couldn't just order chicken nuggets when using the drive thru. DID those NIGGAS know who the HELL I AM...Bet N.O.T. Cause hell, I'm gonna make em' payyyyyyyy...I never stepped foot inside but I ate lunch in my CAR in the parking lot. Tried to take a nap once too. The BARBIE who decided to WORK and flippin drive. Then they tear down BOTH the headquarters...isn it and the store...wtf...👸🏼👁😎😍🦁🤣🤣🤣🤣💪🏾👁
