- This is part 3 of my brand new series I'm calling CUSTOM or CLASSIC! I am taking two identical cars and restoring one ORIGINAL and one MODIFIED, which one will bring me back more money when I sell them and which one will you like the most?
In this video I finally finish the Classic Ford mk2 Escort 1600 sport after 4 months of hard work. The car had nearly every panel on it replaced because of the rust and dangerous repairs it had in the past. The amount of welding I do is the most on any vehicle I've had in the body shop, and the prep work is insane! If you had a classic car what would you do? Keep it standard or make it fast, loud and fun? - Авто та транспорт
Custom Escort: Supra 5 speed or Mazda 6 speed gearbox, 4 wheel disk brakes + pedal box, Late model >2 litre motor with custom engine management. Aircon! and good stereo and seats. Digital dash. tubbed and lipped gaurds with greater than 15" wheels. Quick rack with electronic power steering.

You can’t beat an old classic Ford
I had 1600 sport in that colour, in 1989, BDW840T, I paid £950....Good car, especially when I put 1700 xflow with 40s in it, with about 100 to 120ish hp...quick car for the day.

Just hope my Cossie Viva hc turns out that well!! I'm a right fussy bugger... spent a whole week welding the doors, bonnet and bootlid to get the gaps perfect!!

I grew up in Bransford.. I enjoyed those same roads in a 1275gt, a modded MG Metro (not my finest hour), and a 205Gti...

Lovely job, but standard engine! Be worth money, but be very slow. And the chassis are so capable of taking so much more. Each to they’re own.

Just wondering what spray gun do u use looks nice set up I’ve always used DeVilbiss gti pro but after a new gun and that looks a nice one very much like an iwata gun cheers JT keep up the good work shame your not closer could of helped out and had u on our channel to 👌
I had one with x pack custom made with 4 big Sibies on the front, wish I still had it. 1600 engine with 2000e gearbox😂
My favorite Ford. Wish I could own a mk2 escort in original form that's super clean. Out of my budget though
They are mental price now, I got mine cheaper from SA but with the work they needed it’d be the same buying one here.
That's true for good clean car with some work to do you looking at 50k then doing a nut and bolt restoration another 50k or more. To much to do here

Hiya buddy good luck with your mk2 build 👍. I used the original servo, just cleaned it up and painted it to look like new 👍
I would have used base coat/lacquer especially with red to stop colour fading long term.
Job well done, but why dont you use an electric fan on your builds, more power to the engine
It was a classic restoration so had to be as close to original as possible
Had loads of Cortina's but never an Escort, I missed out big time

Ahh cheers buddy. For the distributor go on eBay and type this out in the search box.
Electronic ignition for crossflow engines.
Should be a picture of the dizzy, coil, leads and plugs next to it. Comes as a full kit. Or item number 192312748041 👍 was about £94 for the full kit.

What paint did you use? Looks like colour is Rosso Red but was it a 2k. What make/system? You mention ICI but they do a few. Thanks!
It was ICI nexa 2k paint in the original Ford Venetian red 👍

Not a perfect restoration, but the car looks a treat and runs well. Couldn't ask for more, super usable car.

Yes I think they are fiesta wheels. They are all the same width, cameras got a wide lens so that might be it 👍

Love the venetian?red.mate had a flatfronted s reg gp1 rs2000 with a proper spec.I used to have a harrier and I removed the overriders!
They are brilliant cars, one of my favourites all day long.
Fwd rs alloys not right or good for the handling , wrong carb, missing overriders, plenty not right with this, the repair and paint is fantastic, just a shame about the details, they make a great restoration in my humble opinion, I'll look forward to the rest of your content, subscribed

combustion motors are dying ? why are you building these cars? no resell value, nobady will buy it from you in the future? so expensive hobby with no future. Combustion engines are DYING! it's is like smoking, there is no return. You are going to be last one holding the bag(expensive repaired combustion car)?!.
I just sold this red car for double what I spent on it, also the latest car I built I made £25,000 profit on. Yes well done mate nice comment.
