The grey jedi are more down to earth in my mind. They may not be as powerful as a sith or have the foresight of a Jedi master, but they are able to use the force without being controlled by it.
None of that is always the case, for some grey jedi they literally only care about the will of the force regardless of morality, and for some grey jedi they have abilities of both jedi and sith

The Grey Jedi is what I would be. The Jedi protect the populous but still hold back while the Sith are open to power they can be too wicked in their path. I would both help the people and not hide my power.
The line is simple, rules DO exist, but those are made for protect and not control, freedom will always exist, but not flourish to the point of bringing destruction.
