Fabulous. RIP My WW2 Army Commando father, and WW2 Teacher, then Nurse/ambulance driver belgian mother. I miss you both, even at 70.
Love this
What theatres did serv in?
What a lovely chap you are and thank you for watching our rememberence with such kindness
Nimrod is one of a number of pieces of music played by the Massed Bands of the Foot Guards that never change in the lead up to 11am at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.
Ah yes... Need to go back watch again
Some may not know that each poppy petal falling represents a life lost in the wars.
so moving Heather...just a wonderful tribute
I knew Malakai would get you in the feels my friend!! The poppy drop gets you even deeper..............never forget!
Poppy drop tears a coming for sure. This young man was special
Thank you Mark .LEST WE FORGET.

Subscribed mate. Thankyou for your respect for us. Your brothers in arms
Right on Nathan...thank you and welcome aboard
The favourites like Nimrod, I Vow to Thee and Rule Britannia are regulars at the Proms but the Festival of Remembrance varies from year to year. It's always good though.
👍
Love it but this was still very good
Mark. Just to say, this events varies a little each year, according to who organises it. It in recent years has tended to reduce the military aspects to become more inclusive of other features, which is all to the good, but next year it may be quite different again. If you saw the event about the tomb of the Unknown soldier, that was in place of the usual service during the year of the covid epidemic. That is why there was no audience, & the participants were all spaced out. It turns out that that was a genius arrangement, which fitted the occasion brilliantly, while still allowing a Remembrance to be celebrated. I'm happy that you appreciated this years event, & continued in your usual respectful manner.
Over the years, it has changed a lot. Back in the 50's, it was all military displays (including weapons drills and gymnastics by display teams) except for the muster and service.
Thank you
Every year will be slightly different, they include relevant information as 75 years of the NHS, Windrush etc and this year the King 75th birthday, and we have less people from World War Two nowadays, none from the previous war and also reflect what's going on in other parts of the world where we still have ongoing wars. The most official is always the Sunday which doesn't really change apart from less people who fought in the wars, you can look back over the years since its been on TV and each time it's slightly different but at the same time try and be as inclusive as possible, without becoming political as it's a very fine line between the two
Yes very fine line. I enjoyed it
One regularly featured piece of music at the Festival of Remembrance and at military tattoos is "Sunset" a wonderfully nostalgic piece I have always loved.
This was played after the two minute silence when the choir sang and the buglers joined in, playing the Sunset bugle call (signifying the end of the military day) along with it. This was just before the final blessing, I think.
This was very good Mark. The Festival of Remembrance that stands out to me was the one that celebrated the Centenary of the Royal British Legion. Lots of handkerchief moments. Hope you and your family have a very good holiday and come back both fit and healthy.
Does hungover count? LOL. Thank you JJ for hanging with me
National anthem god save the queen
After the Royal family left and bbc cameras stopped they did play land of hope and glory with the choir and orchestra there's a clip on UA-cam
What? Those sneaky buggers. I'll look for sure.
You will hear all those pieces of music .at the Whitehall tomorrow. The mass military bands.🇺🇸. Thank you.
We deffo expect video's from Porta Rico Mate .Marks Remarks from a Latino Land .enjoy your Vacation ( Holiday) .Enjoy the Sangria. Or what ever the Porto Ricans Drink.
National symbols really, really, matter. We don't have much else left.
Yes I agree
Thank you Mark. Fantastic to see this. I must admit that I do not appreciate the 'popular' singers but prefer the traditional. I particularly appreciate the Muster (in part 4) as I think it is great to see young and current servicewomen and men contemplating what it is they are actually offering.
Yes I do as well. Love the traditional stuff but enjoy many of the songs/hymns that are sung.
Aren't The RM Buglers just the Best? Never miss a beat; hats off to them
I thought they did a great job this year , was lovely watching along with you Mark , as others have said we have to move with the times and keep it inclusive so it's all good in my opinion, its still a service of remembrance and still very moving, take care 😊.
Absolutely
Last post is played
At these moments I remember my Dad who was in the D Day Landings
Have a wonderful holiday.
Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it .....very moving.
So good
I would love to know how many people said Queen during the anthem.
still find it hard not to say Queen....she was there my whole life....and I was a Jenny Wren
thank you!
You might be surprised to know that the symbol of a poppy was started by an American woman. I do not know why it was not adopted by the USA
I do know this and have no idea why it faded away. I'm trying to bring it back one person at a time.
I am 73 Mark and have watched this for the last 50 years. This year I turned it off after half an hour. Like everything else in this country it has become so Woke. I do not recognize my country anymore.
I'm sorry to hear this Frank. Maybe next year it will bounce back. I enjoyed it but not as much as last year. But why am I watching...to be entertained...sure, yes. Ultimately I want see the traditions and honoring of those who are not with us.
@@MarkfromtheStates That is my problem Mark. It seems drip by drip they are removing the core element. Ie honouring our war dead, as though it is too difficult to deal with.
I just can't understand why people clap its not a concert.
Hi Mark, this year's festival was very poignant, but I'll never forget the 2013 festival. It featured five young girls whose fathers were (still are?) all serving members of the British military. This particular clip gets me in floods every time I watch - I have goosebumps now just thinking about it. The final few minutes are so emotional, I'm welling up again seeing it in my mind's eye. I hope you enjoy this one 🙏

I have seen that video...it was good. Oh boy they are all grown up now
Ans there was me, holding it together, then ...
Am I the only one who found the chaplain's attire somewhat hard on the eye? I'm no fashion guru but it's the contrast with the splendour of the military uniforms which makes it worse!
Lol
Loved it...its what it is, what makes history unapologetic...not fashion, not a marketing exercise, just an eclectic display of time ❤
@@glastonbury4304Well, everyone to his own taste!😊
@keithbulley ...very true ...life's subjective ...as long as you're happy with your choices then who is anyone to change you...its the colourful fabric of life ...pardon the pun!! 👍😉🍻
