      I remember that story!
I didn't agree with a lot of Carlin's views in religion and politics, but I greatly admired his determination to be heard and defy censorship.
If more liberals/left-wingers were like him, the world might be much more chaotic, but quite a few people would have much firmer backbones & wouldn't be so easily-offended by so much of society.
I hope he got a good afterlife, whatever his beliefs on that were in his last moments.

Basically broke it down from previous iterations, and how it takes away from its importance. These days its really happening more and more, especially on social media. If you want to hear an expansion of this list, Alicia, watch George Carlin's "Incomplete List of Impolite Words." Not only does he include swear words, but a lot of euphemisms for various... let's just say, intimate acts.
Also, hi Dad! Speaking of fathers, my father taught me how to curse, given that he was a cop and has an extremely short temper, so he curses like a sailor. He taught me the Godd****t swear, for example. First time I ever used it myself, my brother threw a toy at my head, causing me to start bawling. Out of reflex, I uttered the curse word. I then went to the kitchen, where my mother was, to get help and to make me feel better. But instead of checking up on me and making me feel better, she stormed up to me and slapped me, causing me to cry even harder. Through my screaming in agony, I could hear her yell, "You don't take the LORD'S name in vain in my house!" If anything, the betrayal hurt worse than the slap. Here I wanted her to make me feel better, but instead, she made me feel worse.
But I believe it was a friend of mine who taught me the f-word, because of an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants that we saw where SpongeBob and Patrick learned how to curse (but the curse words were censored with a maritime sound effects, chiefly a dolphin chirping), and my friend told me that the word SpongeBob and Patrick were saying was the f-word. The episode is called "Sailor Mouth," and is Episode 18 of Season 2.
In fact, that episode referenced George Carlin's "Seven Dirty Words" bit when Mr. Krabs said that there were thirteen words you should never use. Squidward said, "Don't you mean there are only seven?" to which Mr. Krabs replied, "Not if you're a sailor." I don't know if you plan on continuing to react to SpongeBob SquarePants, Alicia (given that you haven't uploaded a reaction to SpongeBob in a couple of weeks), but that episode is actually coming up very soon in Season 2. Given where you left off (Episode 12 of Season 2), you've got six more episodes to watch to get to that episode. And it's a brilliant episode, to be sure.

In my opinion this man was the greatest stand up comedian of all time and George didn't even truly want to be one, he wanted to pursue acting but found he'd had a knack for stand up and the rest is history. I highly recommend his autobiography "Last Words" for a full examination on his life and career from the man himself and he doesn't exclude the details which reflect him in the less than great light. He particularly goes into his cocaine addiction throughout his career's peak and how he'd failed as a father in many regards, so it's really something to read as many autobiographies tend to seem like a sanitized and "neat," story of a given figure, Carlin doesn't hold back and he tells you the good, bad and the ugly and with his typical intellectual cynicism and sharp wit throughout. How much he respects the power of language is perhaps the thread that connects the entire story of Carlin, a love he credits growing due to his mother's influence and where his beliefs and general type of topics he'd tend to cover is rooted in. I consider this man a hero of mine, growing up in the era of his late career HBO specials had been something I reflect upon with so much respect for this man, he was more than a great comedian. He was a teacher who instilled the values of questioning what you're told, what the intentions are behind the information you're receiving from a particular source and how it's presented linguistically can reveal a lot within any given social interaction. He's always my number one, many place him behind Richard Pryor which is acceptable in my opinion however I personally have these flipped on my list of all time comedy heavyweights. His Supreme Court case being pivotal in the entire realm of free speech stemming from this very performance. (Pre fame he had been arrested at a comedy club alongside Lenny Bruce whom is I guess is the "Rosa Parks," of off color humor and was slapped with obscenity charges multiple times, at one of these performances that he was arrested at, George intentionally antagonized the police just so he could be in the back of the squad car with Lenny Bruce, idr what he said to the officer but it was something so Carlin I know that much)

I have never heard a single person that could rattle off George's list of seven words like the man, himself. He could roll the seven off his tongue with a rhythm that I have yet to hear anyone else match quite right. He was a master wordsmith, and modern day philosopher. He had some damn funny jokes and observations, but some of them really made you think. When he got into political topics, he really made you realize some actual truths.
I have two verbal modes in my general life.
Mode 1: If I don't know someone, or if they don't want to hear someone swearing, I'll censor for their sake. It's purely because I don't mind acquiescing to something like that. If I slip, I apologize and try not to slip again.
Mode 2: If I'm home, or around people who don't care about cursing, safety's off and I'll swear at will. I'll try not to be loud about it, and I'll try not to overdo it or make it a constant thing, but in general, I don't generally care.
Online, I avoid swearing simply because it's there until I delete it or someone else does. If I do swear online, it's because I feel like it was necessary to add emphasis, for the most part. Otherwise, I'll censor it with numbers or symbols.
I only ever swore in one my videos on UA-cam once, at least that I can remember. I was recording FNAF Security Breach, Monty Gator startled me, and I mutter a surprised and annoyed "Motherf✓©ker". If I recall correctly, I opened a door, looked to the right, big f✓©k off gator is stomping my way but hasn't spotted me, and it slipped. I didn't stop recording, and I uploaded it, but I can't remember if it's particularly audible.

I was in 3rd grade when i tried to be satirical and tell a classmate that he was unfunny by calling him Bob Faget (the premise was he was trying to be funny like Bob Saget but failed so he got an F, hence the portmanteau, and explained it in as much detail as possible) and about 10 minutes later i was being paddled (yes they still had corporal punishment) for uttering the word "F*ggot" and having no idea what i did wrong.

I was the same way Alicia. When I was a kid I didn't cuss at all, and I was always horrified when I heard someone say one of those words. I can't pinpoint when in hindsight, but at some point after I became an adult it was like a floodgate opened and I was suddenly so free with my words. I think I stopped watching my words so much after it firmly clicked in my mind that my sister had stopped watching hers. She's the youngest of me and my siblings so when I realized she was throwing around swear words whenever it suited her, I guess I decided I could too.

17:21 (Sorry for the long post, I’m wordy)
As someone who works in Security, I’ll say that there’s a lot of women in Security, but in my experience, they only go for very specific kinds of Security. Over the years that I’ve worked in four different hospitals and multiple different crews, I’ve only ever worked with three female officers and two of them didn’t typically respond to calls.
But Alicia is right, it would make certain situations a lot simpler. When it’s a bunch of big Security dudes having to respond to a disturbance caused by a female, we are trained to be as distant as possible and follow a very strict script. At the end of the day, if you’re not sure you can defend it in court, don’t do it, even if that means you have to let shit slide sometimes.
On that note, shout out to Kelli wherever she is for kicking ass when we worked together.

YAY YOUNG CARLIN!!! MY FAVOURITE CARLIN!!! A lot of folks really love and likely have already recommended his later/grumpier material, which I also like, but I really want to showcase the more whimsical side of the guy. George Carlin grew up being instilled with a fascination and love of language, which is what led him to making the 7 Dirty Words in the first place, and it shows all over his material. Here are a few of my favourites that are readily available on youtube:
    - George Carlin on Time
    - George Carlin - Losing Things
    - George Carlin - Stuff
    - Airline Announcements | George Carlin | Jammin' In New York (1992)
    - A Modern Man | George Carlin | Life Is Worth Losing (2005)

Oh, you really need to dive into George Carlin more after this, he's a GOAT comedian who hits you hard with things that make you think. Also he later did an extended version of this list when he was older and it was MASSIVE, he pulled out a sheet of paper and everything and the thing just rolled onto the floor like those medieval scrolls in cartoons or the cartoonishly long "To Do" list you'll see in some other cartoons. A personal favorite of mine is his sports cheer...that one is a hoot.

    Hi Dad!
So George Carlin also used to play the character of Mr Conductor on the children's show Thomas the Tank Engine. When I was 7 years old, I was fast asleep when my dad came into my room and woke me up. He said "you gotta come watch this and see what Mr Conductor is REALLY like" and brought me out to watch this very clip.
That was the start of my education on cussing. It was followed by a discussion on when and when it was not okay to swear. My parents have never cared if I swear with them so my childhood friends were amazed at the fact that I could swear not just in front of my parents but directly at them. For example, I had a friend come over, he had brought his Ouiji board with him and my dad had gone and started flicking the circuit breaker for the room we were in to make the lights go on and off and it freaked my friend out and he ran from the house. I had to chase him down, calm him down and then get him to come back. In that time my dad had gone in and moved the board which freaked my friend out again, so I had to chase him down and calm him AGAIN.
When we came back, I saw my dad standing in the kitchen chuckling, I said to him "You did all that didn't you?" He nodded, and said to him "You know, you're a real fucking asshole sometimes," and I laughed and he laughed and my friend stared in shock, the shock of me calling my dad a fucking asshole without getting smacked overruling his shock at having thought he'd summoned a demonic entity.
That's the sort of relationship I have with my parents, I could get in trouble for swearing, but the context was more important than the words themselves as I could get in just as much trouble if I used substitutes for the cussing if the context was bad.

Carlin is probably my favorite comedian of all time and I’m always to people laughing with him.
An interesting fact that I haven’t seen people talk about is this routine was later deemed important enough that the Library of Congress has it preserved for all time.
The has of what is preserved has grown but if take a look at the early days. It took a lot to make it in. I recommend people take a gander at the list if they’re interested.
