    That is the CUTEST bridge I have ever seen! You could probably even get some solar powered fairy lights or solar powered path lights to put on each end of the posts for something pretty to look at in the evenings! ;)

    What a fantastic job you did on the bridge. The rocks are amazing. People pay good money for them here in the states. Your dog was right on cue after you mentioned it is much safer for visitors.

    • @thebridgemanscottage

      I started off learning to forage and learning bushcraft skills, quitting drinking and smoking and all things superfluous, living life as if I were already here. City life isn't real, it's a facade, the core needs of water, shelter, food and warmth are still there, we've just created ever more complex systems to manage those needs for us.
      Even when I was in the city I just saw through the facade, realised I still live in nature and eventually I had the money to start the homestead, but the work started years prior, and it's only gotten harder, but more fulfilling at the same time.

    I love it ! You have given me an idea. I will try to make one for a pond a have in my small garden. I will make the diagonal pieces too.

    • @thebridgemanscottage
      @thebridgemanscottage  2 роки тому +2

      Yeah the diagonals will add a bit of weight visually, I'd recommend you do :) I only thought of it after the fact but as I said, I can always add them later, but other projects must be finished first 😂 have fun with yours!

    Hi. Love to see the animals and the natural environment of Ireland! (I'm in California)
    I'm a subscriber to your channel, since seeing your interview with Daniel at the Mossy Bottom channel. Many of his subscribers are wondering if he is okay, as he hasn't posted anything anywhere for months. Would it be possible for you to contact him personally, to check on his well-being? Thank you!

  • @amyblueskyirl16

    Perfect! Love the ivy on the one railing! Personally I like your “how-to” demonstration videos because you don’t gloss over important details like how exactly to cut a point, while not spending half the video just standing around and talking, which people often do in these types of videos 😂

    • @thebridgemanscottage
      @thebridgemanscottage  2 роки тому +3

      😂 yeah I hate that too! Taking 10 mins to explain something that can be demonstrated in 2

    • @amyblueskyirl16
      @amyblueskyirl16 2 роки тому +1

      Yep! Or giving a lot of explanation/background when a simple link for more information would be fine. It’s the hands-on details that are important to show IMHO

    Great job! Does your pond have a liner or clay soil banks? I'm just wondering if you're losing water into the earth or if the water is kind of contained so it stays at a certain level even without rainfall and doesn't leach away continually?

    • @thebridgemanscottage
      @thebridgemanscottage  2 роки тому

      I have naturally clay soil, so no need for a liner of any sort, I wouldn't lose much water to the soil, most of the loss in the summer is due to evaporation but the pond is so deep it's fine.
