Great video. I also use to spend my holidays in the 80's with my 2 sisters at our Grandparents house in Bracknell (Arncliffe, just by the Mill Pond). Bon Ron Thanks M8 Also Its sad to think there getting decommissioned hopefully they get put to another use , maybe the mall turned it off or it lost power up there with the installations of the elevators or something ,Or it might have just broke :(
Yes Maybe But The Mall May Have Disarmed it For Reasons Like Saftey And Traffic And Stuff But It Will Most Likley Be When The Elevator was installed and they switched the direction of the voltage on the wires
Bon Ron I recorded those lifts before they were modernised (it's on my long list of movies to be edited). This siren footage was recorded before the modernisation of the lifts. From other comments, I think this siren has been out of action for a while. I bit I edited out was when I went to the station across the road, as some of the others are located there. I asked a guy who was collecting money from the car park ticket machine. He told me the council offices and gave me no indication that it hadn't been working for a while. You would have thought he would have said "it's over that direction, but I haven't heard it for a while"??!
Why do they have so many escape sirens covering such a large area? Is the intent to let the public know that someone has escaped or to let the hospital staff know?
They are to let the pubic know. The sirens were installed in 1952 after a patient escaped and murdered a child before being recaptured. I heard them for real once back in the early '90s when there was an escape. I was driving with some friends to play in a football match, or something, and we heard them in the car. Since it wasn't 10am on a Monday we immediately said there must have been an escape and we'd barely gone another mile before we were stopped at a police roadblock. We were warned not to pick up any hitch-hikers!!
Nope! I controlled the drone so that "I" was out of sight! If spotted, then people would be looking at the drone and not me! This would give me a little extra time to get the filming done which people are looking to see where the drone is being controlled from and get out of there! ;) Also, the lower level ramp was an ideal landing pad, rather than the roof.
Interesting video. It sounded like that siren didn't go off. Couldn't see the electronic junction boxes when the drone went up. Whats going to happen to the sirens & their towers when they are removed? Keep them as spares, or sell them for other companies that need them?
Yes And Now We Have More High-Tech systems there would be no need for the alarms Bon Ron although they would be good to keep as parts of jistory awesome things and To annoy the crap out of people
An escape is very unlikely but of course, possible. I think it costs them too much for them to run and also how they're always faulty broken solar panel but they are keeping at least 1 which will be on the site covering a good distance in terms of hearing it.
I've seen many on ebay over the years. There is someone that restores them, then sells them for way over what I would pay. I mean, unless you have a use for it, then it's quite expensive just to keep in your garage. Imagine running it up in your back garden - this isn't really an option! (and you'll need 3 phase mains)
mrmattandmrchay Yeah haha I would love one to keep in my shed and I would fire it up every so often an cause caos everyone would wonder what that noise is 😂 I would just get 3 phase installed as it would be useful for welding anyway. Do you know if the sirens are still in operation today as I would love to travel over to see them working?
Alex Ellis Uhmmmm, taking the drone in there wouldn't be wise! Nah, I'm respecting the high security nature of this place and won't be going in, unless invited in of course!
mrmattandmrchay Mother of coincidence - On the other side of the world I too have found a siren on top of a shopping centre! It was on top of the centre management tower Block for the Westfiled Queensgate shopping Centre, in Lower Hutt CBD (Probably the tallest building in the city centre) and is used for Civil Defense. www.flickr.com/photos/105055766@N08/16931517258/

Interesting video. It sounded like that siren didn't go off. Couldn't see the electronic junction boxes when the drone went up.
Whats going to happen to the sirens & their towers when they are removed?
Keep them as spares, or sell them for other companies that need them?
1:14 for a brief second, i thought the car flipped from going around the corner..... later realized it was the camera

+Bon Ron no way there getting decommissioned 😦
Yea, they think the hospital is secure enough and there Is no need to keep them anymore as there's most likely never to be an escape again!
Yes And Now We Have More High-Tech systems there would be no need for the alarms Bon Ron although they would be good to keep as parts of jistory awesome things and To annoy the crap out of people
Even with the highest security, an escape is still possible. So the sirens should be kept up in case of another escape.
An escape is very unlikely but of course, possible. I think it costs them too much for them to run and also how they're always faulty broken solar panel but they are keeping at least 1 which will be on the site covering a good distance in terms of hearing it.
What is the song name at the end?

Its up on that building
Sadly that siren that was above that building has burned out
I find this extremely interesting there is currently a air raid siren for sale on eBay for £500
I've seen many on ebay over the years.
Broken siren
It's been removed now.
Bruh do you see the siren K is up there
Why didn't it sound???

8:42 WTF? IT SAYS MPH‽
I take it you wont be able to go to the military academy with the drone - they would most likely shoot it down.
