    I have been using my Zoom H6E with two XLR version clippy mics hooked on my backpack, it turns into a ultra convenient sport audio gear, super fun! I recorded myself snow tubing, snow shoeing, kayaking, and there will be so much more possibilities with them!
    P.S. I am a blind musician, audio production and field recording lover, the voice guidance on Zoom essential series just saved my life.
    You can also try my set up :) I bet you will love it.

    I bought an H2E very recently and I use it in multiple ways. To capture moments in my life but also now as a stereo overhead mic for my drum kit while rehearsing. This thing is small, packed with features, budget-friendly for what it does. So good. I love it! The MS Raw and the Zoom plugin in Logic are a godsend.

    Great work, as always! The stereo width of H2E sounds very good. Did you notice differences in preamps and self-noise between the two?

    H2E has the flexibility and seems to have lower noise as well, I got the H2E kit with it's dead cat that allows you to have access to the top buttons and it seems to work well. very enjoyable recorder to use, I do wish their app worked with Android, but I'm sure that will happen at some point. the inputs for PIP mics seem to be decent for clippy/lom omni mics -- great compact gear indeed! Try the movo shock mount, it's stiffer, but the rycote is my favorite!! Great video as always you two!!!!! thank you!

    Vielen Dank euch beiden! Tolles Video und ein super Vergleich der beiden Rekorder! Ich mag den H2Essential, ein kleines „Immer-dabei-Gerät“ mit einem (für den Preis) wirklich guten Sound. Macht weiter so!

    ❤👌Thank you for helping me decide to get the H2e as a compact recorder. I'm diving into sound recording, and your channel has been incredibly helpful and inspiring!✌️

    Great comparison. The H2e also sounds richer in the mid frequencies. And the sound travels through the stereo field in a more natural way. I love it. Thanks for another great video. Viele Grüße - Til.

    I really enjoy your "in the field comparisons". You might want to look at another entry into the field of budget recorders, the Zoom H1-XLR. I recently purchased this recorder and am quite impressed by the recordings it produces at $150 (US). Depending on your mics, I think it is going to be quieter than the H1e and it can use XLR or 3.5mm mics. I have the H4n, F3 and FR-AV2 and find it compares favorably with those. The form factor is really interesting for a field recorder as well. I'm not sure I would hand hold it, but I don't hand hold many field recorders due to sounds.

    Still using an H5 after 6 years...bare bones, works great. Pre-am is the most quiet but i like the versatility plus the ability to use it as an audio device.

    Another great video Marcel cheers. I’m personally loving both, but as you say, there’s more options with the H2E which is great fun to play around with both in post and when out in the field. If I was only choosing one of the two now it would be the H2E but the H1E is great too and less money so there’s definitely a spot for it in the market.

    Great video, again, thank you :) I have H2n but wonder how cleaner H2e preamps are because I wish to upgrade? And one idea: will it be nice if you put in the video real time of levels and scope indicators and maybe pre/post marker if its possible and useful ;) Wish you all the best!

    The birds and background in that park stood out to me. I can't really say one was better but the H2 definitely had more going on, acoustically speaking. Granted I wasn't using headphones, but that one stood out to me.

    H2E all the way! For not much more in cost you get more features and better recording capability, it's a no-brainer!

    They are both very good. I think the H1 is very good for directional sound and the H2 would be good for catching full ambient sound, guess it depends on what sound you intend get.

    Not directly topic of the video, but about comparing: Have you ever talked how you get best results with your audio when uploading to youtube? Ofc having good quality recordings to begin with, for me uploading to youtube the audio sounds slightly muddier. Not that much, it's still a good recording, but listening one after the other my local file sounds clearer & sharper for the small details. I will download the audio-track from youtube so I can actually compare side by side and look. I was just wondering about how you two do it and thought I'd ask :)

    Maybe my poor old ears are getting too old and my Tinnitus sure doesn't help, but I actually don't hear much difference between the two on most of the recordings. Not a big difference anyway, except the water drip recording and a few in the Hong Kong Park. I'd still like to test it out for myself though, as I love recorders that fit in a pocket or rucksack pocket where you don't need to carry anything else to record (mics, cables, clips etc ...).
    Thanks for the review anyway Marcel/Libby. And yes, making a video on the little things you like to use (accessories and the like) would be very cool.

    Is there a difference with preamps between the two recorders? I have them, and as far as I can tell the default gain is different in the raw files, which might have something to do with the capsules they used, or the preamps, or both in combination; once the content is level-matched, the preamp hiss tends to be the same as well. There is no foam layer inside the Zoom-branded wind muff for the H2e, so it doesn't handle gusts as well as one that has foam to stand the fur fabric away from the capsule a bit further, but it is sewn to a rubber exoskeleton that fits the recorder perfectly. I really hope they make an aftermarket one that has both the exoskeleton, foam and then a much longer haired fabric. We need a better vibration dampener mount as well; maybe one with different shore-hardness bands that could be swapped out easily in the field and fold flat for transport.

    The H2e seems to be pretty cool... As for the h1e, how is mono produced? Take both mics in 90deg then combine/mix them on a single track? Or just use one of the two mics?

    Hola y Enhorabuena por tu canal y por este video en particular! ;
    Hace tiempo que os veo todos vuestros videos!:
    Me encanta salir y Grabar sonidos de ambientes de playas , Pájaros, Tráfico, bosques, etc, etc...
    y al final, y para completar mi equipo...
    me he decidido por comprar la Zoom H2 Essential, por su sonido tan espacial, sobre todo, para grabar ambientes, con tanto detalle, y de sonidos, que viene de todos lados 360 Grados...
    La estoy probando y haciendo muchas pruebas, pero , me hace falta un gato muerto, que quite muy bien el sonido tan molesto del viento;
    porque he comprado el Kit de Fabrica, que consta de, la funda (un poco grande), cable, USB ( la transterencia de datos, me parece un poco lento), mas el conector a corriente (correcto), y por último el Gato muerto!, que desgraciadamente, me parece Insuficiente, para ambientes al aire libre! (estoy buscando uno que cumpla Bien su cometido); cual me recomendarias?
    Y me falta por probar la entrada de linea.
    La salida de Auriculares, sopla mas de lo que en realidad, se ha recogido en la Grabación, esto parace ser que la calidad del amplificador de los auriculares, No es muy buena..., pero para monitorizase, no esta mal..., aunque mejorable...
    En definitiva... me parece que los previos, soplan demasiado, aunque se disimula, con el sonido de ambiente de al aire libre...
    Estoy pensando en comprar estos micrófonos: Clippy EM272 Stereo y conectarlos a la entrada de Micrófono, pero No se si irán bien..., me podrias ayudar? ademas que es mas inversión...
    Tambien tengo una Grabadora Olympus LS-10, y una Edirol R-44, la cual tiene 4 canales de entrada Combo, XLR-Jack, (esta es otro salto en calidad), pero No es tan portable como la H2 Essential , ni la Olympus LS-10.
    Te agradeceria mucho tu Opinión, sobre mi equipo y que opinas, si me recomiendas, quedarme con la Zoom H2 Essential, o no..., a mi , me gusta, por su portabilidad, y facilidad de manejo, y es muy divertida de utilizar!, ( lo que me hecha para atrás es el Zumbido excesivo de sus prévios)
    Muchas Gracias por divulgar la Grabacion de Sonidos Ambientales, y todas las posibilidades que tiene, quita-vientos, diversos soportes, diversos micrófonos, diversas, Grabadoras, etc..., me encanta!,
    Un Saludo, y a seguir Grabando y disfrutando!
    PD: perdon por el comentario, tan extenso...

    How's the handling noise of H2e? If I were to hold it tightly for about 30 seconds or less, wouldn't there be much noise?
