    I recall taking my son to see Nancy Wilson perform at USC in the early 2000s when he was still in high school. We sat in the first row and he was thrilled that we were close enough to read the sheet music on the piano. She recorded the song “Let’s Go Where the Grass is Greener”. It was written and composed by my son’s vocal coach and family friend, the late Howlett Smith. Howlett told us royalties from that song brought his family (with 6 kids), completely out of debt. Wow! RIP Fancy Nancy!

    Have seen "A League of their Own" several times, just watched it again recently. Of course "There's no crying in baseball!" is the most quoted line from the movie, but my other favorite line was on the bus when Tom Hanks said to the house mother "By the way I loved you in the Wizard of Oz!"

    My grandmother lives in Rockford and she took me to the sight of the Rockford Peaches baseball team. The ticket booth is all that remains of the original stadium. But the field is still there and still being used. It’s in a rough neighborhood, but it was worth the trip. Rockford has a very rich history. Great video and thanks for sharing.😀😊

    I worked at the center for history. when the ladies came after the movie came out here in South Bend Indiana.. and downstairs in a large display case is their clothing ,baseballs , gloves ,and many pictures of the women’s baseball league I was lucky enough to get the ladies to sign my T-shirt the ones that came for the unveiling of the display.
    it’s definitely worth checking out along with the museum which is very interesting and covers a long history here in South Bend Indiana it’s at 808 W. Washington St. Along with the Copshaholm mansion Museum which was built by the Oliver family who is famous for the Oliver chill Plows , that broke up the tough earth to plant crops throughout America 😊👍🏼🖖🏼

    I possess "A League of Their Own" on Blu Ray amongst umteen kajillion other titles to last several lifetimes, so either I'll have to binge-watch or avoid throwing in the towel for a few hundred yrs. The film sure must be popular as that title was screened one aft'n @ my workplace as a luncheon event in observance of a baseball season celebration. (Incidentally, Faye Dancer, depicted as Mae "All the Way Mae" Mordabito in the film, and Pepper Paire, portrayed as the character Dottie Hinson, are buried @ Woodlawn Cemetery in Santa Monica. And in regards to sports, Olympic Games diving double gold medalist Vicki Draves is interred @ FLCC as well.)

      @@zingwilder9989 Inheritance, coupled w/ a collection-fetish, can do that to individuals. I'll certainly require @ least a second big screen and do a side-by-side routine, running programs simultaneously; either that or a multiple picture-in-picture arrangement. There's just simply too many good flicks out there (and some not-so-good ones).

    • @zingwilder9989
      @zingwilder9989 3 роки тому +1

      @@craigtalbott731 As you say, too many films to ever watch again, not to mention storing them. I've succeeded in reducing my collection to old (complete)TV series such as" ADAM-12," "Danger Man," " Rumpole of the Bailey" and a few others. For the past couple of years I've been purchasing from Prime Video whenever possible. Storage in the Cloud and HD quality for a very reasonable price is unbeatable.

      @@zingwilder9989 I overdid it a tad on the amassing. I really should be streaming as so many have recommended to me, but I haven't upgraded for a while, nor am I all that technologically savvy and may inadvertently hit the panic button. Plus I have much too grand a time on YT, banging away at the QWERTY on the laptop and also communicating w/ others as I am here. Perhaps I should follow your lead, purging to some extent and confine it merely to the classics. Oh, this life is so complex and just 'taint quite lengthy enough. ;)

There is how to videos and when they feature the recording sound part, the voice sounds really good, so it must be something in your camera settings, you purchased a really nice camera, I can't believe that this is the end result of the voice sound. hi AAC, thanks for the feedback. in quiet areas the sound is awesome. when there is street noise anywhere nearby, it amplifies and dramatically picks up the background sound. i've tried every setting to fix it, but no luck. i assume that's what you are referring to. i'll see if i can find some how to videos online. my iphone 7 has much better sound quality when it comes to speaking in areas with background noise :-( hope your job isn't effected by this virus! it sure is wreaking havoc on so many!

    A view from the uk. Stevie, every time you find or review a singers gravesite, the first thing i do is youtube their work. Nancy was no exception. And i gotta tell you the memories just flood back. Way before specific genre radio stations all we has was the "Light Programme" for music on the "Wireless". You can guess the usual American suspects - Sinatra, Crosby, Martin, Johnny Mathis, (me mum's fav), and Nancy Wilson, Etta James. Sunday's were always a roast dinner and, as me dad grew veggies, we would sit in the back garden, on a hot day in me short pants shelling peas listening to 'em all. Why can i remember 60yrs ago and not what's for dinner?

    Drag racing? You would be surprised Steve. Many of the common, popular sporty cars made and sold today can run circles around the so called "muscle cars" of 50 years ago. And then enthusiasts raise the performance level from there with modification to the programming of the car;s computers. And some also modify their exhaust systems to make their cars sound louder.

    Another fantastic video. We took our first trip to Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley in February and were hooked. I can see why you love it there!

    I like your videos because you are so encouraging for folks to learn more about those whose graves you visit. WWII has to be the most destructive time in human history yet this couple persevered through it all on their way to forever together. A touching story.
    And you turned me on to Nancy Wilson's music, an artist I would have never known about but for your video presentation. She was a wonderful talent.
    I understand the difference in style of your videos moving forward and wish you much ongoing success. Thanks a bunch.

      I still have a few longer videos to complete and I may still do some in the future but the single topics are still as interesting and a lot more enjoyable to do. As you can see though they don’t get as many views. But that’s OK. I just appreciate the people like you who do enjoy them. And I’m glad I was able to introduce you to Nancy Wilson‘s music. That’s awesome 😊👍

    One of my favorite films. When I was a kid, we used to go to the company girls team baseball games. My mother was the glamorous blond type like Marilyn Monroe or Tippi Hedren and all the girls on the baseball team looked like Elvis Presley and were in love with her lol. This brings back nice memories. Very sweet.
