    Funny, I just did a UA-cam search for "piano trio" & this was UA-cam's top recommendation. This was one of my favorites nearly 40 ago.

    Considering it was composed by the time he was completely deaf, it makes the composition incredibly soulful

    • @jeffryphillipsburns
      @jeffryphillipsburns Рік тому +1

      I don’t think Faure was completely deaf or really deaf at all. He had some sort of hearing problem that distorted music for him such that music became painful to listen to. Of course many composers with more or less perfect hearing compose straight to paper anyway. (Once when I was suffering from acute hydronephrosis, music was temporarily fairly painful for me to listen to as well. I had some old pieces to edit and one actually to rearrange. The problem with the latter wasn’t so much the heating itself. It’s that I’m synesthetic. I associate music with color and taste, and the disease temporarily made most food repulsive to me. For a long while I couldn’t even think of the piece without getting queasy, and consequently I couldn’t judge its worth.)

      yes, it's most serene, and it's typical for late Fauré that it inexorably moves towards great agitation.

    I'm reading a lot comments praising this "unknown" trio, but... Is it ? I feel like it's played all the time and recorded a lot, as much as Ravel's, way more than Debussy's or Chausson's, as much as Saint Saen's or Franck's...

    Such a beautiful piece, but so much of the violin and cello parts are written in parallel octaves or unisons. I mean it works obviously but it's very unusual for chamber music.

      there is a ton of accidentals, especially in the unisono part of the andantino, so it's not just straight D minor...
