- New body camera video from American Fork Police shows how officers were able to locate two of Ruby Franke's children on the day of her arrest in Southern Utah.
2News was the first to tell you how officers scoured Utah County looking for two of Ruby Franke's children after the other two were located in-or-near Jodi Hildebrandt's Ivins home - malnourished and emaciated.
This video is from the home of a third member of Hildebrandt's business Connexions Classroom. Although American Fork redacted this video, 2News took additional steps to ensure the privacy of the children involved.

Idk how much these two older girls knew in the moment but can you imagine being told at the very least there is a family emergency and you need to clean, (someone elses house no less) during it. Imagine if the knee more and trying to clean during such a distressing time.
Pam needs to be arrested and locked up in the same cell with Jodi and Ruby. She literally worked for them and acts like she doesn't know them very well lol she 100% gave herself away when she said "I'll pick up the kids, I need help cleaning the house". She knew how they forced kids to do all this work. If I'm picking up my friends kids, I'm not making them do chores lol

This is very abnormal, but you are right that it isn’t necessarily messed up on it’s own in other contexts, as a former farm kid myself who loved getting chore money or extra play time. 😅

Has anyone ever had other people’s kids over (not to mention due to a “family emergency”) and said “sure, I need help cleaning…” Ummm…no questions asked or info told to the children about a “family emergency?” Who has people’s kids over to clean their house? What are they? House Elves? I doubt they got any more compensation than ice cream. They’re so cagey in their non-chalance. Might you want to be caring and kind to children who’s mother at least says there’s a family emergency? Maybe you don’t know…so you don’t want to scare them…so just be nice to them? Sure, let them help cook, that can be fun, download a movie for them, talk to them about how their doing…or just be like, okay, I was going to return these unsupervised minors to their family home after they cleaned mine cause I have important guests coming in 🤦♀️

my moms friend used to bring his nephew over occasionally to help clean our chicken coop when he was younger but he liked doing it and my mom also PAID him so it was a way for him to earn some pocket money as a young boy. those are the only situations where i find it pretty normal cause a lot of times kids want to start working and doing things to earn money but they cant actually get hired for actual jobs .
so how old are these kids? Are they being paid? How long are they cleaning? I mean, there is something weird going on here. Truly. Are they employees? This isn't some couple of hour babysitting.....
They are old enough to work but depending on state laws they wouldn't necessarily qualify for minimum wage. However I dont think they were paying them at all.
I think they are 14 and 16. Very highly doubt they are being paid.
16 and 14 i believe are the ages of the 2 older girls who were with pam. the younger ones are 12 and 10 . the 12 year old boy escaped out the patio and ran to a neighbors for help. his 10 year old sister was back at the house still locked in the panic room /'safe ' (safe room) as they called it in one of the bodycam videos

Clean, clean, clean...i once had a family emergency, admitting a sick baby in the hospital. My dear, sweet neighbor took care of my other children for a day while my parents were in route- no cleaning of them was required.

only if paying them and because the kid WANTS to do it like as a job looking to do tasks and different chores for pocket money. (a lot of time younger kids will want to work to earn their own money so they can afford things they want that maybe parents wont buy for them etc so they will want to work but are too young to get a job eetc so tehy will ask family, friends and neighbors if they have any chores they can do to earn money yknow like mowing lawns, cleaning and organizing, babysitting, etc. Thats the only situation i can see it being normal but if the kid isnt getting paid for their work and wants to be doing it its just child slave labor

The racial privilege (and just community-LDS status privilege) allowed them to get away for so long, it’s true. But that’s not the case for trials with international attention.
It is a miracle the two youngest children survived - just like with the Turpins. Racial disparities happen, and allow certain people to get away with far too much, far too often - but when they’re caught on body cam or surveillance, they’re toast.

Well, apparently in trying to teach my young great grandchildren values,as in working for me and being paid, how to save,how to spend when we went to town, maybe I belong in cuffs, there must be way more to this story than we're being given.
Yeah, you're missing a ton of the story. Like the kids duct taped and locked to the floor in a basement safe, the kid who escaped and had to run to a neighbor who cried on the 911 call because the little boy looked so malnourished and abused, taking food away as punishment, taking a kid's bedroom away for 7 months and making him sleep on a bean bag chair. There's a lot to this.
theres a lot more to the story. you sound like a fine great grandma and teaching kids that way is fine. thats not the problem in this situation (i also dont think these kids were being paid for their labor- and they were being forced to do hard labor in sweltering heat.. its one thing to do some basic chores in your own home as part of the family .. some parents will pay kids an allowance for that and some parents just expect it as part of pitching in.. but when you're being sent to do chores for other people like your moms friends they definitely should pay you or treat you to something nice in exchange) but like i said, thats not even the crux of the issue here- the children were being severely abused. watch other news reports on this- the younger children were found tied up with duct tape around their wrists and ankles and had rope burn wounds that the mom and her business partner were trying to treat at home with honey and CAYENNE PEPPER on the wound to avoid taking the child to the hospital ( probably because they knew they would get clocked for child abuse if they brought the kids to the hospital) the youngest 2 were also emaciated and severely malnourished. there was obviously long-term abuse going on.

the children were literally hospitalized for malnourishment and deep ropeburn wounds from being tied up. This doesnt really have anything to do with being Mormon. There are good people who are mormons and there are SHIT*tY people who are mormons just like there are good and bad people in EVERY religion. Where your mormonism becomes an issue is if you are going to defend this behavior just BECAUSE they are Mormon. THAT is what makes it look bad and reflects badly on the mormon faith and makes it look like a cult of people willing to turn a blind eye to abuse. Which is the kind of behavior that enabled this to happen to begin with as this family surrounded themselves with other people (all tehcnically mormon, but they took their beliefs to FANATICAL cultlike level) who all think like them and nobody willing to question of speak out against the mistreatment of these children.
