I learned that the humanistic theory of teaching and learning is an educational theory that believes in teaching the ‘whole’ child. A humanist approach will have a strong focus on students’ emotional wellbeing and eternally view children as innately good ‘at the core’.

After I watched this video about humanistic theory, I have learned that, humanistic theory is clarify the needs of a learners to live worthwhile, safe and contentment. It also means the openness of negative and positive thoughts as long as the acceptance of it. Meanwhile, I also learned the differences of congruent and incongruent. When we say incongruent hard in self actualisation that means has a little overlapping. The self-image is different to the ideal self also while the congruent is similar of self-image and ideal-self. It also more overlapping and person will have a self-actualization that means a lot of openness and acceptance on her/himself. Meanwhile, I also learned the hierarchy of needs are the following, physiological, safety, love/belonging, esteem, and self-actualization. This hierarchy of needs specifically identify the different stages of needs of person based on their personal and perspectives nessesarily in life.

After watching the video, I learned that Humanistic theory describes the human condition as one of constant growth and development. This theory emphasizes the importance of self-awareness and attention to individual strengths in the pursuit of self-actualization or becoming the best. It indeed made me fully understand that the idea of student-centered learning is an example of how humanistic learning theory works. Also, this theory is helpful in crafting an instructional materials through highlighting the significance of adapting learning experiences by the learners and promoting its self-perception at the same time.

I learned that in humanistic theory, motivation comes from the learners to meet certain needs or achieve human development, and the environment has a huge role in influencing their inner goals and desires. So in education, it focuses on the free will of learners to learn, as I think it concludes that it seems that the desire for learning is innate. There will be collaboration or social involvement to fill gaps in learning, and it also depends on the condition or environment humans are in. Learners are to aim for self-actualization or reaching what they want to be or do.

Humanistic Theory may assist me in generating Instructional Materials by utilizing those components, which are self-worth, self-image, and ideal self, to help me think about how I would design my own Instructional Materials in a creative way. The Hierarchy of needs can also help me to motivate myself on how I will going to start to craft my own Instructional Materials. Self-actualization, esteem, love/belonging, safety, and physiological are all very essential and must be used in order to better our work. These five traits are also our way of expressing oneself through the creation of Instructional Materials that can assist our learners in gaining more knowledge from our learning materials.

Humanistic theory refers and focuses on subjective experiences of people as opposed to forced and definitive factors. It also tends to have an optimistic perspective on human nature. This kind of theory will help in crafting instructional materials with consideration of the learners understanding how they behave and how they see their self - worth, self - image aand ideals self, which are also the three components of the humanistic theories. Instructional materials that are based on the humanistic theories will encourage students to acknowledge their existence and be more optimistic when they are faced with challenges they do not know if they can solve. Materials that encourages one’s self worth and tends to focus on the person’s well being can shape the student to be more positive, creative and have more confidence in themselves.

Humanistic theory talks about the learners to be self-directed or to be more focused on learner's own selves. Therefore, crafting instructional materials, it should include the knowledge and the learner's feelings to be involved and let them feel themselves as a whole person. Humanistic theory will help you decide on what to craft by looking within your learner's cognitive aspects enable to provide instructional materials that should have the aim of not to teach plainly but have the material that would be a help in understanding themselves; What are they now? And what are they going to be in the future?

The humanistic approach is an effective foundation for developing educational materials that have a deep emotional impact on students. This is helpful to us, aspiring teachers, since we may develop lessons that not only help students learn but also support their emotional and psychological wellbeing by putting a priority on relevance, authenticity, self-expression, and a safe learning environment. This approach assists educators not only in imparting knowledge to students but also in building well-rounded individuals who are able to handle the complicated nature of the world.

Good evening po. John Kendrick Fiegalan po from BA ELS-2B. After watching the video I've learned that in the context of instructional materials, the humanistic theory emphasizes the learner's subjective experience and personal growth. It centers on creating educational content that respects individuality, self-expression, and self-actualization. Humanistic instructional materials often encourage active engagement, critical thinking, and reflection, fostering a student-centered approach. By focusing on the holistic development of learners' cognitive and emotional aspects, humanistic theory seeks to create a supportive and empowering learning environment. That's all po and thank you!

Hi! Good evening po. Rona Belle Yacap po from BA ELS 2B
How humanistic theory can help you craft instructional material?
It is essential for me to get to know these theories because they are among the most important matters that a person like me who wants to teach should be aware of. This humanistic theory will aid me in better comprehending each of my students' abilities since, in my role as their teacher, I must be open with them about such topics so that they can overcome all of their difficulties. I must establish a space where they can all freely express themselves in order for them to function in life and to develop. Understanding every learning difference is essential for educators so they can spot it right away and find a solution.
