The Worst Kept Secret in Striper Fishing.... | The Musky Mania Doc

  • The Doc is made by Musky Mania Lures, a company founded by freshwater-fishing legend Pete Maina, because he was tired of losing muskies on traditional wood lures. With a wooden lure, instead of the hooks lodging into the muskie, the muskie’s teeth would frequently lodge into the lure, making for poor hook sets. Beginning with the Burt jerk-bait in 1992, Maina began designing lures out of high-impact plastic that couldn’t be penetrated by a muskie’s teeth, allowing for better hookups. Musky Mania now offers more than a dozen muskie lures, but it’s the mesmerizing side-to-side action of the Doc that has walked its way into the plug bags and tackle boxes of Northeast striper fishermen.

    I’ve been using these for the past 3 years and I love the dock the most. The noise of produces and the glide distance on the water is perfect

    I just bought one of these 2 weeks ago and I have never seen bass hit a plug as much as this one. I hooked up 3 times where no one else was even getting a look.

    Suggestion if it's okay(unless you did already). Could you do an episode on this lure from the surf casting side from the beach? Also the wonderful people over at canal tackle suggested I think it was 7/0 inlines and I think it was size 6 I think split rings. Can you touch base on this as well? I think it's all based on personal preference and I think yall would agree. Thank you dearly in advance.

    Dunno how I got recommended for this, I catch my fish in the surf where they're earned. Not from a boat.

    • @SneakersAnonymousMatt
      @SneakersAnonymousMatt 3 роки тому

      stop it bro fishes in a boat isn't that easy I've seen people on top a school of fish an don't catch shit so its not all it seems all the time. Surf fishing is awesome it's what I do as well but boat fishing is awesome to just because u can boat to a spot. Doesn't mean u will def catch a fish but do have higher chance an if u go to Montauk for surf fishing u barely have to work cause there is a shit ton of fish there

    • @maximiliansadchikov393
      @maximiliansadchikov393 3 роки тому

      @@SneakersAnonymousMatt Haha bro just because you go to montauk doesnt mean you are going to catch a fish. There isnt a ton of fish there. I used to catch cows at night there. Now you catch rats. On a boat they cant catch a fish because when they park their boat on top of the school the fish get finiky. Its obvious off boats youll catch bigger fish than from surf. Surf is just more enjoyable boat fishing is fun for tog fluke tuna etc not stripers and blues.

    • @SneakersAnonymousMatt
      @SneakersAnonymousMatt 3 роки тому

      @@maximiliansadchikov393 bro I was just tryin to use that as a point an idk if thats true because fishaholic catches monsters in Montauk an so do plenty of other people still when the time is right like spring an fall an just like any other spot for surf fishing. Its all about following the bite an bait but yea I had written something way longer an UA-cam cut like half of what I actually wrote. Reason it didn't make sense cause it wasn't what I fully wrote but was literally saying what u said. An that even on boats u still can come home with nothing an seen it happen plenty of times even on big ass charter boats.

    • @maximiliansadchikov393
      @maximiliansadchikov393 3 роки тому

      @@SneakersAnonymousMatt everytime im on a boat i always catch fish. I still catch cows from the surf. im talking. 35+ pounds. Im very close with Rich. Me and him fish there all the time at night. He doesnt catch monsters off the surf anymore. He hasnt caught a single bass over 20lbs. You just don’t understand the surf bro.

    • @SneakersAnonymousMatt
      @SneakersAnonymousMatt 3 роки тому

      @@maximiliansadchikov393 bro to everyone a big fish is different if ur used to catching monster fish then of course but a 30 inch striper to most people is a big fish an how are u gonna say nobody catches monsters when I been fishing for 10+ years an seen in plenty of places I fished in surf in Long Island, Montauk, Belmar ,Avalon brigantine, Long Island sound area catch 30 to 45inch stripers from the surf not everyday of course but it does happen. Then literally I went fishing on the miss Belmar last 2 months ago for stripers an not one person took home a fish an only 2 people on whole boat caught fish an couldn't even keep them cause were 3 miles out cause every where else we went they weren't catching shit the boat carries 65 people so yeaaa. An then went fishing week later on the big mohawk and caught 4 stripers 2 keepers so yea it does happen know it all.

    Looks like a sex toy, catches lots of bass. Using the big singles tends to produce less rats, can drop smaller fish and pick the bigger fish up when they drop it.
