Love making a big jerry can half to 1 whole gallon of Lye Master Batch, and it has lasted me ages (months) with no deterioration. True true true! Love this gorgeous charcoal soap you have created with the amount of Palm you are using. Just confused that apart from your 16.9% coconut oil all the other oils are minuscule in amounts. Did you really use only 0.4% olive oil, 1.2% sunflower oil, and 2.2% castor oil? Running it through SoapCalc it shows up a very heavily unbalanced formulation. Please enlightenment me. I took what you have here and experimented adjusting in Soap Calc for the digits to fall reasonably in between the numbers in the Soap Bar Quality column, and the Palm oil came down to 60%, the rest coming up a bit. Is your soap a good feel - soapy, without being overly cleansing or heavily creamy? I’m curious to know…before I make your recipe. Thank you
I like this recipe. It comes out beautifully and I enjoy the feeling. Sometimes you need to try a soap - soap calc will give you one reading but you try the soap and it’s something you enjoy. As with everything it’s very personal and it’s why won’t charge for recipes. I’d like people to try it. If they like it great. If they don’t they can use it as a base or ignore it entirely and they haven’t spent money on a recipe they don’t enjoy.
Thank you 😀 Ben for sharing this ❤ Can you share how you measure the oils required for a batch? If you've already shared on how to calculate the oils required for a batch, please share the link. Thank you 😀 once again!!
For this soap I used an app called SoapGenie - it has a fab feature where you can specify the oils you want to use and it will automatically calculate the amounts for you.
Hi Ben, I am loving your soap videos! My question for this recipe is can I sub bentonite clay for the kaolin? I'm waiting for an order of supplies to ship but in the meantime I do have bentonite clay. Thank you so much for sharing your recipes/videos with us 💕
In the recipe... all the oils are marked in percentages but clay n charcoal in grams... Its difficult to guess . Some light over it would be really great.
5g is equivalent to a teaspoon and 15g equivalent to a tablespoon. The thing with clay and charcoal - they are very easy to add or subtract from a recipe (just be aware clay can accelerate trace) So you can add a teaspoon of each and see how that feels or add a tablespoon of each and adjust as necessary
Could you clarify what you mean by a difference. I master batch my lye at 1:1 - so i can change my oils as i wish and use that mater batch with any additional water the recipe calls for.
@@QueerBullSoap I do this to, I was mainly wondering if you see a difference between MB your lie or making it fresh each time. I find that I can create more having a mb than making fresh each time
A lot can be learned from the videos you share. They are very real and make me feel confident in making soap.
Glad you like them!
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
That's a really nice soap! I enjoyed the video a lot! Thank you! 😊
Thank you too!
I was a bit worried, I kept saying hurry up before it turns into soap on a stick😂😂

@@michellecorey347 you can substitute clays. Bentonite will have slightly different benefits but if they work for you go for it.
@QueerBullSoap thanks for the advice, cheers!

I like the fact i can soap whenever i want without waiting for lye to cool and how flexible master-batching can be
@@QueerBullSoap me too. Like I love the ease I have with MB vs fresh each time. I can just soap quickly even if it’s 1 am and I am bored. lol
