I doubt it, because I'm fairly sure this came from Rock Band and Ghost of Perdition was the only Opeth song Harmonix ever released for it. EDIT: Heir Apparent is now also available.
Locke almost every single rock bass player in the game uses some sort of overdrive. The old tube amps....now you can get amazing pedals. Darkglass is a company that has been putting out amazing drive pedals for bass. If you don't drive the midrange frequencies you will not be heard in a mix.
@@Prince_Sharming You really need to listen to Opeth with a pretty big sub in order to fully hear and appreciate the bass on pretty much all of their albums. It's kind of stupid that you have to do that but once you do, the bass is IMMENSE.
Rodrigo Astorga I shouldn't have to spend that kind of money to hear a good bass tone. The bass is generally mixed low in this and there's no denying that. And I'm a bassist, too, if that matters at all.
@@Prince_Sharming Yeah you're right, you shouldn't have to spend that much money in order to fully experience the best version of an album. However, it is important to keep in mind that bands as big as these guys, with as big of a budget, are going to be mixing and mastering with a decent (if not top of the line) set of studio monitors with a big, boomy sub. It would make sense that getting as close to that audiophiliac level of speaker quality would enhance aspects of music that you can't really hear through average speakers. Does it suck? Absolutely. Does that change the fact that you need a nice sub to really hear the bass in the full mix? No. I understand your frustration, really, I do. But in music technology, you get (for the most part) exactly what you pay for. For what it's worth, I play bass too lol Edit: you're right by the way, they do tend to mix the bass pretty low. Part of that has to do with how tight he's playing with the drummer and the guitars. Part of it is also his tone. Very bassy, not a lot of midrange gain.
Damn, had no idea he was playing such a complicated riff at 1:24. Sounds awesome.
One of the best bass players in metal, remember he uses his fingers too, no pick! Sounds so good.
the bassist before him was also great 😿
@@w_waMendez?
@@5urg3x johan defarfalla was the bassist before martin mendez
you can hear the humanity in this
God that tone is so good
Mendez Rules! thank you for this!
Can you do isolated bass for the song Blackwater Park? The slap bass part near the end is brilliant but is somewhat buried in the mix. Many thanks...

Mikeoneus yep, you're right :)
+Mikeoneus If only someone would upload the separate tracks for Heir Apparent. Been wanting to get my hands on them for ages.
Jesus Christ it’s so complex holy shit I never knew, Mendez..

How does he get that tone? Some sort of overdrive?

Matthew Duncan Mendez is already pretty invisible in this album, unless he's playing a fill.
