Lenny sharing being surrounded by the Cash/Carter comfort hug made me cry. I'm so glad they gave this to him at the time of this shock. God bless and keep Roxy's soul.
Unbelievable nonstop conversation. I loved the connection they both talked about for the first time completely when Lennys Momma passed. Rick Rubin in anyone's life is just God Sent, he's such a special person and only brings the best outta anyone. Great Conversation!!
we all listened to WABC 77 in New York back in the day... if you ears were open you heard the best music in the world... and if you grew up in NYC like Lenny- culture was everywhere.. it makes one a well rounded individual.
Yes, I remember that brilliant time way back in NYC. As a youngin myself, I ate all that culture and artistry up! The music was so rich and varied. Good to know that Lenny was there too being shaped to be the amazing artist he became.
One of my faves of this podcast, Lenny is so cool and always keeps it real. Such a gorgeous speaking voice, cute sense of humour and excitement. Adore hearing about his childhood and mom. So much talented pioneering pop culture moments figures in his life. Yes, open mind ness is important, we are all people. 😎 👂🏻🎙️ 🎧 ❤
I've been listening and or washing to a lot of Lenny Kravitz interviews as of late in this is the first one I've come across where the interviewer actually lets him be himself and doesn't waste time with frivolous superficial and non-essential questions. I feel like I really got to know Kravitzs as a human being and learned a lot about him as an artist and life from a different perspective.
Bravo Rick! And thank you Lenny for sharing your truly remarkable story of growing up in the grandness of American music and culture. It served you well. Your mother was a saint.
Listening to this reminds me very much of my parents and my mum .. before she passed and after .. no one can really be ready it when it happens I can empathise it. . Greatful to listen
What a privilege to listen to this deeply personal conversation. Thank you. Two very tuned-in human beings - I resonate so much with beautiful people like this who understand the world in energetic terms and appreciate the importance of love
I loved this interview it was Interesting how Lenny got to experience the beginning of the east and west counterculture simultaneously. Wow it's no wonder that Lenny is so cultured and can blend in anywhere with almost about anyone from all walks of life. This was amazing 😁
Awesome conversation. Even 😢 cause it reminded me of the passing of my grandmother in 1983 and my Dad in 2020. God has really guarded you with angels assigned to free your path LK. May He continue to bless you. 🙌🏽🔥
This is such an inspirational interview on all levels. I am black man living in North America with a down to earth up bringing and now with my own family. I am inspired because I don't look at Lenny as a celebrity but a brother who is a hard worker with great gifts and talents. Great stuff man. Thank you both for a great interview.
Amazing! Actual shivers listening to the recounting of having happy birthday played by Duke Ellington orchestra. Thanks for providing space for artists to tell such wonderful stories!
A lovely interview where Lenny shares an indepth look about his early childhood...and his exciting journey to music influenced by some great icons!💥👍✌🏼❤
This was deep very cool Lenny Kravitz is so underrated his experiences and history is amazing thanks Rick Rubin this made my night awesome interview I had to sub this channel🙏👍Awesome Duke Ellington story 🎹 and Miles Davis man I have to get this book . Lovellandrew
Listened to this one thinking, this is probably going to be interesting. And it is, far more than I expected. Had no idea this guy has had this kind of life.
Really neat to hear mention of ESG and Konk. Weird too because I never thought of them as club/dance music. To me they were post-punk, but of a very unique variety. I think ESG either opened for PIL or at least the members of each band knew each other and each others music. And thinking about it more, there's no reason those bands couldn't be club and dance bands and not also be post-punk-ish - you had those groups that people now refer to as "mutant disco" or something like that, which was probably the same scene. "Experimental" rock, but with a groove of one sort or another and the noisy guitars - sometimes with horns. Really amazing stuff. Still really like ESG in particular.

That's what Rick Rubin does best, he brings the best outta everyone. Watch his Andre 3000 Talk, or Kendrick Lamar.
