    Today I finished editing my first episode from the Alps and is the same part of the trail from your video. Nice to see you and Deny. I don't know where you find that place from min 11:54 because I didn t see it. Hugs!

      I’m surprised you didn’t find that Abri! It was just listed on our map, but maybe this was one of those times we deviated from the GR5

    Guess you have seen even bigger mountains since that. Your videos are getting better all the time but without falling into being too cheesy or too dramatic. Well done!

      Haha yes they just get bigger and harder to hike as I go along!
      Thank you :) I’m glad they’re coming out well, it’s hard to make them on a small screen with limited resources!

    Another well-made video, keep it up! Nice cliffhanger to keep everybody hooked!
    (Not that that would be necessary though 😊)

    In the Alps it sure goes up and down and up again! 😊 But you already found that out for yourself!!
    Keeping your stuff dry is a bit of a hard one!
    Wow, still snow.... Early in the saison you can still het quite a bit!
    Keep going and enjoy your trip!

    Unfortunately, bad weather again with a large thunderstorm cell. It looks like you are in the middle of it. I also have one here already and the one from France I get later🥴. Good luck! Happy trails!

      @@LaurenRoerick Oh, good for you! I barely survived the first one from early morning today. I was on a campsite when at 04:45am the first thunders were heard, fast approaching. I immediately fled to the sanitary building. At 06:05 with the second storm cell, a lightning struck a tree 50 meters away. SCARY MOMENT, AND LOUD AS HELL. From this moment the entire campsite was wide awake. My tent was just a little further away.

    hope you got that fly fixed so that it doesn’t leak in rain. my heart broke a little for you when it got ripped up. almost nothing worse than dealing with a leaky tent on cold, wet, rainy, stormy nights. even a small drip can drive a hiker almost insane. plus, those tents are not inexpensive. those views make me want to hike in the alps.

    • @LaurenRoerick
      @LaurenRoerick  Рік тому +1

      I patched it up quite well and after a dozen storms it’s still holding strong! Because yes, it is not a cheap tent and I’m very attached to it!
      I would absolutely recommend hiking in the alps :)

      I can also recommend the Hungarian Kéktúra to everyone. Compared to Hungary, it's spectacular, but not even close to these ones. It is perfect for getting to know the country, the culture and the people!

      Thank you so much! It’s always a bit of trial and error. Mostly I look at how far my next resupply point is, how many days I estimate that will take me, then I have a good idea of what I eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and add some snacks in between, and multiply by how many days! I don’t always get it right but close enough.

    Glad your little tent survived! How long do those water filters last (how do you know when they're done)? At the beginning of this video I was wondering if you were the only woman on the Hexatrek! Evidence to the contrary. Those Alps are very Sound of Music! If you know what I mean. That roof in the storm was a little bit of cosmic help. So much goodness in this episode!

    • @LaurenRoerick
      @LaurenRoerick  Рік тому +1

      I’m so glad my tent is still alive and well! Water filter does like a thousand litres I think? Probably even more if I backflush it. But I barely filter out here cuz so much of it is from springs or taps.
      Only 5% of people on the hexatrek are solo women this year! (The girl in this video is just a friend of Deny’s who visits for a couple days, so not a thru hiker)

    20:31 Do you really eat salami with the peal on it? When I was young, my parents told me to remove the white stuff before eating it. Most efficiently you can do this when the salami is one piece, afterwards you can cut it into pieces. But hey no offence, if it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger, overall the food quality is for sure better in Europe and it also shows on your sandwiches.
