@@jden_224It's not even the tracks that make NB not like MKWii as much as everyone else. It's the fact that you can't even do the snake moves like you did in the DS game and Double Dash. And Battle Mode added a time limit, which literally took out the fun.
It's been a while since we've done a Mario Kart Top 10! I still have ideas for maybe 5-6 more, but after that I'm gonna be out of Mario Kart ideas until the next one is released. Let me know what other Mario Kart Top 10's I could make :)
I don't think the remake on the DS was very good. There was only 5 laps and none of the items in MKDS were super zany like in Double Dash. The Chain Chomp and Bowser Shell really made Baby Park fun in the original, so that's why I didn't add it. It just feels really boring in this version.
Here's my list: 10. GBA Luigi Circuit - I loved the rain and the blimp as a kid, and I would always play with the Poltergust 4000 and Luigi if I was playing Time Trials. I just thought I could suck up the rain... I was dumb. 9. SNES Choco Island 2 - I loved it for some reason. I can't really explain why... I still love the little chocolate lakes on the track though. It looks so smooth. The music is also really catchy. 8. GBA Sky Garden - Sky Garden was a weird course for me. I always thought it was connected with GBA Luigi Circuit because of the Luigi blimp. The clouds never looked like clouds to me but always reminded me of cake with whipped cream... Don't ask me why. The music is also really nostalgic to me. 7. N64 Banshee Boardwalk - Banshee Boardwalk was really weird to me as a kid and the name didn't help out either for Dutch me. I didn't know what 'Banshee' meant, nor 'Boardwalk'. Heck, I still don't know what Banshee means. Let's look it up! So apparently it's a spirit that warns of a death happening in a house... Knowing that now, I find the course to be much creepier. I always tried to hop over the hole in the floor and I never succeeded unless it was the very corner. The music was also never creepy to me. It sounded like jungle music to me. Do not ask what was up with me when I was younger, I don't even know myself. 6. GCN Luigi Circuit - I just liked it. 5. N64 Moo Moo Farm - I thought the name was silly... and the course too... 4. N64 Choco Mountain - I don't even like chocolate but MY GOD does this course look delicious. 3. SNES Koopa Beach 2 - I loved this course so much for some reason. 2. GCN Mushroom Bridge - I've always loved bridges. And the music on this course is amazing too. 1. GCN Yoshi Circuit - What can I say, I love Yoshi.
***** Master Penguin The reason I chose Mushroom Bridge even though it only lost its shortcuts and things like that, is because MKDS is the first video game I've ever played. I didn't know what a retro track meant, I just loved the track so much because I love bridges. That's why Mushroom Bridge is so high up on my list.
***** Those holes in Koopa Beach 2 are the main reasons why I hate that track. I'd often end up falling into them. And Choco Island 2 is more annoying than challenging. Especially those ramps that make you lose control whenever you go over them.
I really like GBA Luigi Circiut because of the music and the rain gimmick. I find it really fun to powerslide on the course and go through the grass and dirt for shortcuts. Nowadays, when I'm in a car and it's raining, that course's music pops up in my head all of a sudden.
Yeah GBA Sky Garden is easily my favorite retro track as well, always has been. Sky Garden was so amazing because it was the best Mario Kart cloud themed course before Cloudtop Cruise.
Connor Stevenson and I have been playing the same time and he is so happy I am going back on and off my favorite game of my life changing the story and keeping well on the story and keeping up on my story is great but the game will not play the same game with a lot more levels but the same things can be played with the game play the same thing as you do and I am very happy and you can submit online online and play with the same thing and I am very disappointed that I have a game that is a very good thing for you to do with a story
Luigi Circuit was a decent course in MKDS. And I definitely agree with you on Sky Garden. It's probably one of my favorite retro tracks in DS. Now I really want to play this game again.
One thing to point out: N64 Frappe Snowland actually has ice physics. Being a snaker of MKDS, its actually quite obvious theres ice physics in Frappe Snowland because I can so easily make the snaking in Figure-8 Circuit, but I always find myself sliding into the wall multiple times from the opposite ends on frappe snowland, in the section with the big icy walls before the finish line.
Great vid, Nate! Best Top 10 in a while! My favourite retro track in the game might just have to be Luigi Circuit from Double Dash! How's about you make Top 10s on the best retro tracks in Mario Kart Wii and 7?
NateThe Derp Okay, why am I not surprised? I mean, it's not like I love a popular non-Nintendo character who goes by Nate from many of the people he meets on his travels. The world is full of Nate's, Nate!
I played Mario Kart 64 as a kid, and I had many fond memories of the game. However, when I went back to look at the tracks in that game and I had completely forgotten about Banshee Boardwalk. So I totally agree with you at 7:31
I LOVE this game SO much it’s my childhood it brings back so many memories it was my first Mario kart game every I’m so sad I don’t have it anymore this was the best Mario kart game ever!
The retros in this game are just ok. But if I had to choose my favorites they would be sky garden, gba Luigi Circuit, mushroom bridge and banshee boardwalk!
I would replace moo moo farm with mushroom bridge because even though they removed the pipe path, sidewalk and bridge climbing, the spirit of this track is still in the remake for me.
Nice list! My personal favourites are Yoshi Circuit, Sky Garden and Mushroom Bridge. The last one just being a personal favourite even though I've heard the DD version is far better (I never have played DD, never had a Gamecube)
I think Yoshi Circuit is a little like a simple, but grand finish to the game. You play it as the last track in 50, 100, 150 and Mirror CC, and it’s essentially the last track you’ll play before you 100% the game (Grand Prix wise, not including Missions.)
Hi Nathaniel! Love your videos. I just wanna say that I LOVE Paper Mario and I would be thrilled if you did a top 10 on it. If you haven't played the games, that's okay! If you could just let me know, that'd make my day. Thankies!
I totally agree on #1 xD I think my top faves are Tick-Tock Clock, Rainbow Road, and Waluigi Pinball. Fun fact: I added lyrics to the song in Choco Mountain when I was 7. It was based off of the small clip from Spongebob (Chocolate with Nuts) where he and Patrick say "FANCY LIVIN HERE WE COME LA LA LALA LAAAAA" don'tmakemesingitplease
Yes! I was going to suggest top 10 mario kart 7 retro tracks. I do however want you to do the top 10 hardest tracks in mario kart 7 like this comment if you agree
About time someone else recognizes the godly nature of Sky Garden's theme.
indiejacob oh hi indiejacob (from how super mario kart triggers you)
I know. The song is awesome
THANK YOU.

Calm down Paul it’s ok
He mentioned it for Luigi Circuit tho

Coco mountain? lol :)
Haha! Good one Nicobbq!
XD
Sweet Sweet Mountain too
I don't know how to speak XD
I knew it was Choco.
I always call the brown falling rocks cocoa puffs
I always thought they were Ferrero Rocher hazelnut candies
Maybe bon bons?
This is on my Top 3 favourite Mario Kart games. It's so nostalgic!
These thumbnails have been looking nicer lately, too!
Tanks bruh
Donut plains is quite 'PLAIN'
Oh my god...
NB said that already.
Ba dum tss
😒
Doesn't see Baby Park in there...
oh okay.
He put it on his top 20 worst tracks list
I don't think the remake on the DS was very good. There was only 5 laps and none of the items in MKDS were super zany like in Double Dash. The Chain Chomp and Bowser Shell really made Baby Park fun in the original, so that's why I didn't add it. It just feels really boring in this version.
MK8 and their Anti-Gravity however; made it work.
I was only teasing lol
Luigi2012SM64 GCN baby park sucked. The original and MK8 one were good but the de version sucks
I love Banshee Boardwalk, it’s so creepy, I love it omg
YES! SKY GARDEN YES YES YES!!!!!!!
Yeah, it's definitely one of the better retro tracks in this game.
Nathaniel did you not put mushroom bridge on this list because you can't drive on the rails of the bridge anymore?
I'd suppose so.
Here's my list:
10. GBA Luigi Circuit - I loved the rain and the blimp as a kid, and I would always play with the Poltergust 4000 and Luigi if I was playing Time Trials. I just thought I could suck up the rain... I was dumb.

2. GCN Mushroom Bridge - I've always loved bridges. And the music on this course is amazing too.
1. GCN Yoshi Circuit - What can I say, I love Yoshi.
Choco Island 2 and Koopa Beach 2 are awful IMO. And why Mushroom Bridge? That track got completely ruined in this game.

Thanks. I don't completely hate the remake though; I just find it disappointing in contrast to its original counterpart.

Connor Stevenson literally no one says it other than "cocoa..." Say "choco" out loud. It sounds stupid
Connor Stevenson why did you comment then
Connor Stevenson I know right? I call it Choco not Cocoa, like the fuck? It say Choco for a reason.

Oh yes a new Mario kart video, I missed those so much. XD
Did anyone else play as Bowser in Choco Mountain and push all the CPUs off the wall and see how long it takes for them to finish?
"Donut Plains 1 looks really quite PLAIN" aha aha aha aha (stupid laughter)
Luigi Circuit was a decent course in MKDS. And I definitely agree with you on Sky Garden. It's probably one of my favorite retro tracks in DS. Now I really want to play this game again.
iBenjamin1000 i have 3 ds's and mario kart so i feel so blessed

I grew up with this game so this top 10 was really nostalgic
I like how he uses the tank every time
I LOVE Banshee Boardwalk in the DS, I hope they add it to MK8, when it comes on the switch.
Psyduck & Chill ikr
I mean you got boo lake
close enough, I guess?
Choco Mountain music is so nostalgic for me. I still play Mario Kart 64 whenever my friends come over.
Also it's falling maltballs ;)

I LOVE this game SO much it’s my childhood it brings back so many memories it was my first Mario kart game every I’m so sad I don’t have it anymore this was the best Mario kart game ever!
That blimp thing you were talking about could be a track that references Mario & luigi dream team
There should be a Super Mario 64 Secret Slide track in Mario Kart 9. I hate asking for likes but like if you agree :/
I love Mario Kart ds! :D happy you made this video
The retros in this game are just ok. But if I had to choose my favorites they would be sky garden, gba Luigi Circuit, mushroom bridge and banshee boardwalk!

Great list NB!!
So I was watching this while playing Double Dash, and when you mentioned Yoshi Circuit, I was literally playing Yoshi Circuit :)
THE MEMORIES OF THESE GBA COURSES! (The GBA Mario Kart was my first Mario Kart game)

I got a great idea for a new prediction:Smash for the NX
I celebrated when you put Sky Garden at number 1
Does anybody else notice in Choco mountain there's a billboard that says YoshiKart and Wario stadium says KoopaKart ???
Yay, a Mario Kart video!
Donut plains has a relaxing vibe.
Not overrated, for its time it was amazing.
My favorite retro tracks in this game are all the GCN tracks except Baby Park and all of the GBA tracks.
You forgot to mention that the luigi blimp is ALSO in the last stage
The closest we got to that Blimp idea is either Mario Circuit or Wuhu Island, both from MK7.
That Cheep Cheep on Banshee Boardwalk? That's actually a Big Bertha, Cheep Chomp, or Bubba, they all look similar in certain titles.
Mario Kart DS is one of the best Mario games imo.
Hiya!!! 🐧
I hate frappe snow land but it's better than sherbet land
great video today could you make best Wii retro tracks or 7 and 8 retros
I actually already have a Top 10 on my favorite Retro Tracks for Mario Kart 8! The lists for Wii and 7 will come over time.
cool, I can't remember all these videos for each game XD

SKY GARDEN, YEEEEEEAH. As a kid, I liked even more than Rainbow Road, no kidding.
