One thing I haven't seen much discussion about predicting tracks in the next Mario Kart is the idea of courses with different routes each lap. When the Tour city tracks were remade in the BCP, each lap was different to use up the entire course layout. Tour Piranha Plant Cove had this treatment as well as there were 3 variants of it in Tour.
Now if this new course design type was exclusive for Tour nitro tracks, then it's probably a one time thing. However, this course design was applied to a few other retro courses in the BCP. N64 Kalimari Desert made use of the train tracks, and the final lap of DS Peach Garden was reversed like Tour Paris Promenade.
So I think it's likely that this course design may be used in future retro tracks and possibly future nitro tracks. It's like how MK7 introduced super long tracks split into 3 sections that MK8 continued. Imagine getting a nitro track based on (maybe) a kingdom in Mario Odyssey or a location in Mario Wonder that uses this course design.

    • @HDRookie
      @HDRookie  11 місяців тому +10

I think it's cool for a handful of tracks. Probably a bit overused in the BCP.

@@HDRookie yeah I like how it spices up some tracks like that one ds track that I forgot the name about (peach garden or something) with a small change. Or when it is creative like with kalamari desert. But I think it was used a bit too many times

    • @taiscommentingaccountusedf1908
      @taiscommentingaccountusedf1908 5 місяців тому

I believe Kalimari got this treatment because of the tunnel being a famous easter egg route in N64
For Peach Gardens, it was apparently a cut route in the original DS iteration, so bringing it back makes sense as well
I don’t necessarily believe this was a BCP gimmick, moreso some extra flair for tracks that could get some

The way I see it, courses that have never been remade are the most likely picks, followed by courses that were only remade in tour, followed by courses that were only remade in DS/Wii. Maybe courses that were only remade in 7 can show up as dlc but not base game. I’d also say that besides maybe the tour cities, the only courses in 8 deluxe that should be in the next game are nitros. No course that was a retro in 8/BCP should be in the next game (as much as I want them to bring back sunset wilds and give it another chance). Crossovers I also think could only return in dlc

I really wish we had Wario Colosseum in MK8D since it would've been perfect for anti-grav. I have a suspicion that they may for-go the entire "cup" system we've been dealing with since DS. Heck, they may even have a story mode instead where you work your way through the levels, easiest to hardest in order, and you can stop in that progression at anytime (like an all-cup tour but default). Then they would also have a V/S mode for when you want to play tracks whenever.
Also, I won't be surprised if there is a built in course builder as well, using SNES track themes as templates.

I actually think other courses remade for Tour that were already remade before - such as Mushroom Bridge and Airship Fortress - also have a chance to be remade for the next game. It's much like the Booster Course Pass: they already have (re)made these courses for Tour and can simply just reuse the remakes with slight tweaks to the design. Just like with reusing the courses remade for Tour that _weren't_ remade before, most of these already remade remakes have gained massive overhauls, so reusing these versions again for the ninth/tenth Mario Kart not only saves time, but also preserves these Tour versions of beloved tracks (since Tour won't be able to be playable forever).
If they want to, they could fill up the entire retro selection in the basegame with courses that were remade for Tour (and weren't already used in the BCP), whether they were already remade for a past Mario Kart or not! ...Not that I want the _entire_ retro selection to be Tour-remade tracks (since I still want Toad's Factory to be remade, and with all the Rainbow Roads in Tour to be in MK8 already, we still need GBA Rainbow Road to end the retro selection on), but it's still a possibility I wouldn't necessarily rule out, especially in this new era of Mario Kart, with futures uncertain and predictions feeling like the Wild West all over.
On a side note, I wonder what they will do with the music for the next Mario Kart. Will they simply reuse (or remaster in the GBA courses' case) the old music like what was done in Tour? Will they use the same big-band style as in Mario Kart 8 (get new big band-style arrangements for courses which music weren't in MK8 before, or use the MK8 version when eligible)? Or make new rearrangements in a totally different style?

    • @HDRookie
      @HDRookie  11 місяців тому +4

I think the bar has been raised for music. They need to do rearrangements at this point, or it'd be seen as lazy. I could even see Tour port usage being seen as lazy as well. I'd prefer they remake these tracks from the ground up. A lot of them could benefit from some antigravity sections as well.

You actually gave me an idea: in my video where I explain how I would see the game, I’d add a number of stars from 0 to 3 that indicate if I think if it’ll appear or not in the game.
0 means I have almost no hope to see the track get remade, 1 means I have some doubts about its appearance, 2 means I think it’ll appear, and 3 means I’m almost sure it’ll appear in MK9.

  • @LvlGenesis
    @LvlGenesis 11 місяців тому +5

I agree with most of this. I think the only thing I would add would be adding any retro track from DS into the eligible category. You mentioned they would be the most likely to be brought back out of the courses that have been remade but I do think there is more to it. Especially if they were remade in Tour. Courses like GBA Luigi Circuit and Frappe Snowland feel like locks to me for a 24 course retro selection just due to how old their first remake was. Even courses like Banshee Boardwalk would make sense to get remade again. I think Wii’s retro courses might be a little too recent for another remake but DS retros make a lot of sense to get into the eligible category vs just being likely.

I honestly feels there will be some retros that were remade would be in the base game of the next mariokart game for one major reason
N64 is not going to have only 1 track.
While other games have had one track for GBA or SNES, both of those games (at least until 8/deluxe started giving them the remakes they are deserves) weren’t really that crazy.
Granted, if any n64 courses were coming back, I suspect it won’t be any that we’re in MK 8 or it’s DLC
So I think banshee boardwalk, Mario raceway and a few others could be in the base game.

    -N64 Wario Stadium

In my current MKX prediction, I have a few 2nd-time retros (N64 Frappe Snowland, N64 Banshee Boardwalk, DS Delfino Square). In that prediction, I tried to make it as balanced as possible by giving most games equal representation (3 courses, with the exception of SNES, GCN, and Tour, which have two tracks each) but otherwise I prioritized tracks that were never remade.
N64 had only one non-remade track and DS had 3, but technically 2 since GBA took the Rainbow Road slot.
So for this case, I allowed remakes from DS and Wii.
And make sure to remember that after MKX (or whatever its called), some games will be completely out of non-remaked retros and will be forced to double-dip in order to keep having representation.

The only way I can see RMX courses returning is if somehow (well, somehow without making a mess) they merge the SNES courses into larger courses like how the city variants were merged in the BPC (for a example, one way would be combing SNES MC1, MC3, and MC4 into one course while combing SNES MC2 and rmxMC1and maybe something like rmxMC1-R into another course). Do I think this will happen in the next game? Probably not, and probably never will, the only way I see a slight chance of that happening is if nintendo ever decides to be dead set on having a game with every single mario kart track to avoid having 5 mario circuits that are technically from the SNES.

I think there should be exceptions to a few of the already remade courses. This is to answer, "Are these already remade courses dated in comparison to the newer entries", and "Do the new mechanics and visuals introduced in this new entry benefit on refreshing an already remade stage". This is for the off-chance that Nintendo will do remakes like SNES Rainbow Road, GCN Yoshi Circuit, and GCN Baby Park because there are DS Era retro tracks that are so dated that remaking these again will benefit it.

I actually found an old MK9 prediction document from about a month after Tour first came out while scrolling through older files on my PC. Figured I might as well share a piece somewhere.
I followed the whole idea of "no returning retros" while ignoring Tour since I wasn't particularly familiar with its track selection, but also on launch it took so much from 7 that it seemed like an anomaly rather than something to actually consider.
    *Shell Cup:*
3DS Toad Circuit (ayyyy BCP lmao)
SNES Koopa Beach 1 (bit of a generic/common pick at the time, didn't really have anything I actually wanted to be in this slot so why not)
MK8 Sweet Sweet Canyon (I actually used to be a big fan of Sweet Sweet Canyon for some reason)
Wii Toad's Factory (you know why it's here)
    *Banana Cup:*
DS Mario Circuit (I knew at the time that the final 2 turns were way too sharp, but I figured they'd mitigate it with anti-grav. They did not mitigate it with anti-grav in the BCP)
SNES Vanilla Lake 2 (a circle that would also get a massive difficulty nerf via the existence of underwater driving, also I wanted to have every SMK track type remade)
GCN Mushroom City (figured the reduced traffic that MK8 had would be standard going forward so I moved it up)
GBA Lakeside Park (shoutouts to Tour for validating this position while literally only removing the tiniest turn imaginable)
    *Leaf Cup:*
DS Shroom Ridge (thought the two traffic courses had distinct enough vibes to be in relatively close positions, and I didn't think much of Traffic Course Overlap™since 5 cups)
N64 Wario Stadium (big shocker this one)
Wii Dry Dry Ruins (never liked this track but just added it cause Why Not, just fit the vibes)
MK8 Wild Woods (my favorite nitro track from MK8, I was obligated to include it somewhere)
    *Boomerang Cup:*
GBA Sunset Wilds (track always gave me more canyon vibes that they could hone in on for a remake than desert to be completely honest. Shame about the sunset in the BCP though)
MK8 Electrodrome (this track always felt like easy "yeah they're bringing this back for the next game" bait to me. I took the bait)
SNES Bowser Castle 3 (always thought the SNES Bowser Castle archetype was severely overlooked for how good they were relative to the rest of SMK's tracks. Happy to see it in the BCP)
3DS Maka Wuhu (I noticed the pattern with the 4th course in the Star Cup, but a 3D BC was a necessity, so I just slapped it here. Made the most sense to me)
    *Lightning Cup:*
3DS Wario Shipyard (had to also put my favorite MK7 nitro in here too, yknow)
MK8 Dragon Driftway (another overlooked banger in my eyes, something about it just felt right here)
GCN Bowser's Castle (GCN only had 4 tracks and I didn't want to use Colosseum or Rainbow given Stadium + Shipyard and GBA RR, so it getting the BC made sense)
GBA Rainbow Road (to the surprise of nobody)
Obviously a lot of things would have to be changed if I made an actual prediction now, but one thing's for certain: that Lightning Cup is fucking BANGING and I wouldn't change a single thing about it.

I feel like the next Mario Kart will be Mario Kart X because not only X is the roman numeral for 10 and it will by technicality be the 10th Mario Kart but also because Japan loves using X to mean cross. I feel like the next Mario Kart while still being primarily focused on Mario characters it will also lean more into crossing over with other Nintendo properties more. (Ditching the Mario Kart label for Smash Kart just never made much sense to me IMO.) Calling the X a Cross could also tie in with new potential track gimmicks like two theme's crossing over with each other to alter the tracks (I'm thinking something kind of like Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed). :p
In terms of cups and retros, I do believe that we will be getting more than the classic 8 cups, at least 10 minimum. I think, for the most part, they will focus on Tracks that haven't been remade before excluding any tour track remake that wasn't in the BCP. However remade tracks from DS and maybe Wii may be eligible again since back then little change were made to the tracks (Especially in DS' case) and otherwise we'd only be getting 1 64 track and many others like DS wouldn't have many options. The only tracks that I feel are an absolute lock in the next Mario Kart is Piranha Plant Pipeline since it missed out on 8D's BCP though I feel like we may get one other tour track so tour doesn't only have 1 track as well, My gut says Ninja hideaway due to it being a fan favorite that released early on in the BCP's life, and GBA Rainbow Road to continue the tradition of the next Mario kart Remaking the Rainbow Roads in order of release.
In terms of tracks based on other properties returning, since I think the next Mario Kart will lean harder on cross Nintendo content I can see some of them returning. Feel like at least one of the Wuhu stages will return as well as the Zelda course and one of the F-ZERO courses. maybe in their own cup with another returning Nintendo themed Track?
In terms of New "Nitro" tracks, my only hope is that they lean heavier into the Nintendo Franchise's theme like the Zelda or Yoshi's island track. For Example, if there's a new DK track it pulls more inspiration from DK games like how 3DS DK Jungle was based on Returns instead of just slapping DK's face on the level and calling it a DK track. Though if there is a new DK track I kind of hope they now change the coins to bananas. :p
For DLC, anything goes. Though if my prediction of the crossing over more into other Franchises turns out to be true I would love to see some tracks and Characters based on 3rd parties, most specifically Sonic due to their friendly rivalry and Pac-Man due to NAMCO creating the Arcade Mario Kart spin offs. Both have even had their own Kart racing games (With Sonic having multiple. :p) and both had Mii suits in Mario Kart 8.

    • @HDRookie

Mario Kart X feels like the best title. One could interpret it as 10, but it's noncommital. Fans could argue whether or not Deluxe or Tour was 9. Even MKWii was supposed to be called X at one point I believe.
I think Ninja releasing first actually works against it, in some senses. It means we've had it longer than the others to this point, and a way to counteract that would be to choose something newer, I'd think.
A crossover nitro/retro cup specifically could potentially happen, I agree. But I think they would have to commit to a full cup. Having "Wii U Big Blue" alone would feel awkward, IMO.
Don't think they're changing coins to bananas, because bananas are a standard items.
Some good thoughts here for sure.

Maybe one for new crossover tracks and one for Retro crossover tracks or just mix the old and new together. :p I wonder if the Wuhu Tracks would be considered for the hypothetical crossover cups as it sort of is a crossover with Wii Sports but also it isn't treated as such in Mario Kart 7
And yeah, they probably wouldn't change the coins to bananas in a new DK track to avoid confusion with the banana peel item, but I love to see them do it due to bananas essentially be the DK equivalent to Mario's coins. Maybe make them banana coins from return/Tropical Freeze instead?

What I bet is that they’ll give the 25 Wii U courses the ‘Switch’ prefix, which I know is incredibly strange because those debuted on the Wii U but when you think about it, it makes some sense.
Let’s just say Sundae, Island and Squeaky Clean are Switch nitros, that would mean the Switch only has 3 original courses, which isn’t even enough for a mainline game. It needs *at least* 16 originals. Even if you include the battle courses, it’s still not enough.
I wouldn’t put it last Nintendo to try and forget about the Wii U so it’s definitely within the realm of possibility that instead of giving the original 25 the ‘Wii U’ prefix, they instead give it a ‘Switch’ prefix and then the 6 Tour originals can get the ‘Tour’ prefix.
Side note: I do hope that if the cities aren’t brought back, they at least use the route changing gimmick in more courses in the future

Personally I love the idea of the 9 Wii U DLC Nitro and 7 Tour Nitro/BCP tracks being grouped together as a set of 16, it makes absolutely no sense (especially piranha plant pipeline) but it just feels right for Mario kart tracks to be in sets of 16, and grouping these as 16 “DLC” or “Switch” tracks or whatever you want to call them removes the weird odd numbers they exist in as well as the ambiguity around the Tour nitros. Plus I think they kind of fit together, usually a set of 16 nitro tracks has a consistent design philosophy to them and I can see that a bit with these. A big thing is that all of the tracks with unique references to other games in their coins, end music, etc all fit within that group. Mostly the crossover tracks, but that way yoshis island gets grouped with them which I think makes sense. It also groups sky high sundae with the f-zero tracks (the only non-remakes to use low gravity), sky high sundae with excitebike (both of the straight line tricking courses), and super bell subway with ninja hideaway / squeaky clean sprint / piranha plant pipeline, other tracks that focus heavily on alternate routes, for a few design similarities that I think would be nice to group together.

    I have a few thoughts.
    1) The course counter that we know may have been reset once 8DX launched, and the BCP came. That would mean effectively, any track in 8DX is ineligible for a new game. This would also mean MK64 is down to 6 courses again, and so on. But Wii is still at 11/16. This would also allow prior retros such as Frappe Snowland and Airship Fortress to get a second chance.
    2) I don’t think the Tour Originals bar Pipeline will come back. At least not for this entry. I think having Pipeline in a selection of even 16 retros is reasonable.
    3) We don’t know Nintendo’s future plans. Many suggest a 20/20 or 24/24 nitro-retro split. It’s not out of the question to have a 16/16/16 split between nitro, retro, and more crossover courses.

If we don’t get Toad’s Factory, Maka Wuhu, DS Bowser Castle, and Piranha Plant Pipeline I’m will hunt down Nintendo. Also, I still think 10 will be new retros only. We still have enough tracks to do at least 1 more game with this, plus DLC having returning retros doesn’t break this imo, it’s content added later on so recycling retros doesn’t affect the formula Nintendo made in DS. Finally, I think Tour is 9 and Nintendo will make it that. While Double Dash isn’t as different from Mario Karts released after, compared to the first 3 it was very different yet it was still considered 4. Plus companies like going to 10 with big marketing so Nintendo would probably want to do that and Tour exists so just have it be 9.

Addition for Switch nitros Tour only retros, and crossover content:
I never thought of the Wii U DLC tracks becoming Switch nitros alongside the Tour originals but honestly that'd be pretty cool. Strange since they were playable on the Wii U first, but I wouldn't mind this happening. While I think Tour is mainline and will be counted as mainline, Tour retros should still return as first remakes. I think what makes me think this is reaching their full potential with mechanics like underwater, gliding, and antigravity (especially since antigravity wasn't in Tour.) Finally, crossover content. I think crossover content being DLC only is perfect and the perfect way to have Nintendo characters in Mario Kart. MK8 is the perfect formula for it, Mario Kart is perfect the way it is being MARIO, and having a few crossover characters and tracks added in a DLC as extra content is just a perfect mix a both. Gives you the ability to play as characters like Link or Kirby and tracks based off those franchises in a Mario Kart while not losing what makes Mario Kart, Mario Kart.

I would personally classify Tour as mainline, as both Nintendo EPD and Bandai Namco's (recently named) Studio 2/Studio S developed the game in part with DeNA and Nintendo has classified their mobile outings as mainline before like with Fire Emblem Heroes, and the Tour courses and characters coming back for the Booster Course Pass are also in line with how elements from FE Heroes like the game's Tempest Trials and the character of Veronica were implemented in Fire Emblem Engage. That being said, I do agree that the courses remade for Tour would likely not influence their potential return in the next Mario Kart game unless they were implemented in the Booster Course Pass, as the sheer volume of courses remade for Tour would greatly limit the potential pool of new courses that hadn't been remade.
As for the RMX courses, the only course I really feel should make a return over its base track would be RMX Vanilla Lake 2, as the new layout and decor makes it feel like it could be a modern Mario Kart track, albeit one from an early cup. And for the crossover courses, I feel like Excitebike Arena could have a chance of returning in the next game, as while it is based on an outside NES game (not counting the Satellaview version), it was a title directed by Miyamoto and was one of the games cited by Miyamoto as being a part of the development of Super Mario Bros (namely for its screen scrolling and warping, with the other being Devil World for its player character size; also, for what it's worth, the Excitebike Arena music is one of the few tracks that was implemented into Smash Ultimate as a Mario Kart series song). Of course, that is assuming the next Mario Kart is going to limit itself back to Mario series content, which is the most likely scenario as stated in the video.
And while I know others have mentioned it already, Pokemon Legends Arceus is classified as a mainline title for Gen 8 of Pokemon, much like how Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee is classified as a mainline title for Gen 7 of Pokemon, despite the different gameplay flows compared to the flagship titles for their respective generations.
Otherwise, this video was a great round-up of the potential courses we could see as retro courses in the next Mario Kart.

I like the perspective about Excitebike Arena, and how it's music was categorized in Smash and taken from MK, despite being it's own series. And yeah, the way I see it is: Tour is an 8th generation MK game.

The Tour City tracks would also be awkward because they are real world locations instead of Mario ones. It's cool as it's own gimmick, and that's why it needs to be all or nothing. Having only a few feels like a cop-out, because they're not very creative and take away a slot from what could be a more imaginative course.
I'm hoping Tour tracks are ridden from base-game selections forever-- only appearing as DLC from now on.

My solution to the 'are already remade tracks alligable?' thing. I'd say that every remade track which didn't have the flying and underwater gimmicks should qualify as remakable (DS and Wii) as well as the 3DS courses, because honestly, the grafic quality of MK7 is a bit lacking. This of course would mean that only WiiU und Switch remade courses are not able to be remade, which is still a bunch of tracks that fall through. My reasoning for that is that these retro courses often leave something to be desired (especially MKDS, it's one of my favourite games, but dang, some remakes stink...) But that's just my view on the topic😊
Edit: What I also would find quite a good idea is to give some retro tracks new themes. This idea came to me when I thought of the fact that in mario kart, muddy tracks are considered 'chocolate' and snow tracks are considered 'vanilla' which makes them kinda counterparts. So I thought: What if there was a snowy Version of Choco Mountain called 'Vanilla Mountain'. And I think this principle would work with quite a lot of tracks. Turn the Volcano in Grumble Volcano into a geysir that spews water on a beach course, which makes parts of the path flooded. Turn Toad Harbour into a desert3d ghost town which was taken over by boos. Turn Waluigi stadium into a skater park instead of a dirt track. That would freshen things up and also would save time, as the layout of these courses has already been more or less perfected, so the devs could concentrate on the gimmicks more.😅

    • @HDRookie
      @HDRookie  5 місяців тому

I think skins for stages would be a good addition. Swapping to skate park Waluigi Stadium could be like selecting Fire Mario on the character select screen.

A possibility that i've seen spoken of that i actually could see happening is Nintendo fully saying screw everything and having mk9 start with only NITRO tracks (32 or 48) and then have remakes in a BCP style dlc
This would for sure be bold of them, but i wouldnt rule it out, since it really would be a breath of fresh air after the abundence of remakes we've been playing with both BCP and Tour
Yes we might have gotten 20 original courses but outside of those we've been playing the same courses for the last 10 years, and heck 14 of them almost have the same theme with being cities
It would give mk9 a unique identity and stand out from mk8dx (which nintendo needs to focus on with how much that game sold), with a better showcase of the game since they wouldnt have to be loyal to any og layout or theme and have free reign to do whatever they want

Im gonna try do some predictions, assuming retro cups work like mk8 wiiu
    Shell Cup
    GBA Cheep Cheep Island
    SNES Vanilla Lake (RMX mechanics)
    3DS Shy Guy Bazaar
    Wii U Thwomp Ruins
    Banana Cup
Wii U Port Toad (Toad Harbor with RMX mechanics)
    GBA Lakeside Park
    Wii Toad Factory
    SNES Bowser Castle 2
    Leaf Cup
    GCN Mushroom City
    GBA Broken Pier

    Wii U Cloudtop Cruise
N64 Wario's gauntlet (Wario Stadium with RMX mechanics)
    3DS Wario's Shipyard

Then as for the DLC, it really could be anything, but I assume piranha plant pipeline, DS Airship Fortress, Mount Wario, GBA Rainbow Road, DS Rainbow Road, N64 Jungle Parkway, N64 Banshee Broadwalk, Wario Colosseum, Sunshine Airport, some Wii U dlc track like wild woods, should be in there

I agree with your analysis _assuming_ the Switch 2 isn't backwards compatible and MK9 or whatever it's called isn't season based in some way (I don't even necessarily mean DLC seasons; Splatoon went to being season based for it's 3rd entry)
If the Switch 2 is backwards compatible, my question is if they'd want to maximize the differentiation between MK8DX and MK9 (or whatever) by not having any repeat tracks, on the assumption that most people getting MK9 already have MK8DX.
If MK9 is season based, my question would be if they'd launch with 24/24, or if they'd launch with 16/16 and add a cup worth of tracks each season until they hit 24/24 outside of whatever DLC they offer, and if they do that and the seasons were free (The Splatoon 3 model, where the seasons are there to advertise NSO essentially, and exist alongside DLC. And I swear if this is how we get mission mode back, as a DLC single player campaign...)
And I am posing these as questions rather than statements or predictions of what the New Rules are, since your analysis of what the rules are didn't seem to consider these factors that are both things that immediately popped into my head.

Yes for dlc all bets are off, but that includes tracks that were in deluxe imo. I think that Nintendo will include koopa cape, coconut mall, maple treeway, waluigi pinball, etc, as dlc for every future mario kart game. They are just too popular and there is no reason not to. Smash kept adding more stages and has almost every stage included. So I don’t think tracks that were in 8 deluxe are inelligible, but I think they’d bring back some of the most popular ones as series mainstays along with popular ones that weren’t in deluxe like airship fortress. For the base game I think you’re right, they’re more likely to pull from tracks that haven’t been remade yet. I’d love to see every previous track included but that might be a bit ludicrous of a track number. I wonder if they will go the route of a subscription service or have something like tour where tracks rotate. One thing is for sure, things sure are unpredictable. You just earned a sub, great work.

    • @HDRookie
      @HDRookie  11 місяців тому

It is possible that certain courses are always remade, but I don't know if I'd count it as a lock. You can get a general idea, but it's hard to definitively claim which tracks are "deserving" of this, because it is all subjective.
I'd say that remaking a MK track takes a bit more work than remaking a smash stage as well - opposite of how the characters work in those games. The tracks are really what set these games a part so I don't think all of them in one package is too likely.

Well, perfect would be subjective. I think for courses to come back multiple times though, I'd prefer that they're some of the more complex courses. BC4 - I doubt that it's coming to the next game because of (DS) Bowser ('s) Castle.
    Pipeline - Lock On
Mario Raceway - Unlikely because of (N64) Wario Stadium.

I personally think Nintendo is going to do a small selection of the 21 first time retros, maybe like 4-6, and then the other 18 retros (assuming the next game will consist of 24 retro tracks and 24 nitro tracks) will be previously remade retros from DS, WII, 3DS, WII U, and Tour. in my opinion, (these are just my thoughts only) I think the tour cities and non city nitros (except for pipeline) have been considered remade from tour in Mario kart 8 Deluxe, mainly because they have the tour prefix. also in my opinion I would like for Nintendo to consider all WII U nitro tracks, WII U nitro DLC tracks, and WII U nitro crossover tracks as 1st time retros, I just think it would be the best course of action. My impulse thinking really wants to believe we will get the 21 1st time retros from Super Mario kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario kart super circuit, Mario kart double dash, Mario kart DS, Mario kart Wii, Mario kart 7, Mario kart 8 (all nitros, and DLC) and Mario kart tour for piranha plant pipeline. Either way, I actually don’t care if they do it that way or the more realistic way, because as long as we have a new Mario kart to play, I’ll be really REALLY happy.

As much as rebooting a franchise can seem inevitable or a likely choice for Nintendo to take MK, when I really think about it, Not only I don't think Mario Kart will be rebooted. but I don't think it should be. Anti-Gravity as much as it seems like a mechanic that would stick to one game and then left behind, gliding and underwater was brought from Mario Kart 7 to 8. Gliding and underwater was also brought into Tour.
So it's safe to expect Nintendo will keep Gliding and Water for another installment. As for Anti Gravity, well... again, as much as I thought it would stay around for only one game, I can see it coming back for one more game and in that sense, complete a trilogy for this Era of Mario Kart. Maybe Mario Kart 10 will have the remaining 55 tracks that were not put in 8 Deluxe and a plethora of new tracks utilizing anti-gravity in even more crazier and innovating ways for track design.
Almost like Splatoon has had 3 games that has built off of the first splatoon. I think we might have a similar idea here.
    3 Mario Kart games:
Mario Kart 7 (Intro to Gliding and Water)
Mario Kart 8 (Intro to Anti-Gravity (Gliding and Water continued)
Mario Kart 9/10 (The Culmination of Anti Gravity, Gliding and Water)
    Completing the trilogy.

I personally think that some of the fan favorite MK7 retros, those not in the Booster Pass like DS Luigi's Mansion, could feature in the game, because DS has 3 tracks unremeade, the first track, the last track and Bowser Castle, so they maybe even have a higher chance than some MK DS and MK Wii retros, like the N64 retros in Wii. I think that 1 of the Wuhu tracks will be in the base game and 1 as DLC.
Nevertheless. I am going to rework my retros for MK X/9/Twitter, I think if it was never in a home console game, it has a higher chance, like Luigi's Mansion, Bowser Castle 4, Airship Fortress, only on handhelds/The Unlucky 16, but if It was remade in Wii or (obviously) 8, I'd obstain. Deluxe having 96 tracks means that if Nintendo were to top Deluxe, the bar would be set high and they have to put an equal number of tracks or more. An announcement trailer with only 32 tracks before any DLCs wouldn't look nice. At that point, migrating everything from Deluxe to the new game with a better engine is simply easier and more efficient, something like Smash Ultimate. Or they could go for the Mario Maker route and allow players to download any tracks online if it felt clustered with so many tracks to pick from.
