IT'S IMPORTANT TO HAVE THIS SUPPORT RULE? WHAT? SO IF I WANT BRING MY BOA CONSTRICTOR INTO A RESTAURANT BECAUSE I AM TOO ANXIOUS TO GO OUT TO EAT WITH MY SNAKE, YOU'RE OKAY WITH THAT?
No, the rule is stupid and should not exist. Outside of seeing eye dog, animals should not be allowed. You don't even need a seeing eye dog really, the staff will help to enter and exit, I just think a blind person having to check a dog while navigating an airport would be cumbersome
My stuffed blue hippo Dolph (65 cm. who comes complete with a baseball bat) is my ESA of choice. Also have a smaller one who fits in the cabin trolley. Got away with bringing the small one onboard a charter flight. No one complained. The cabin crew even wanted to keep him. Because its a stuffed animal.
Nova Lena right on, I am highly allergic to peacocks, feathers and dander. No joke. Had I been on a flight that allowed a peacock on board I would have to get off the plane. Just being in the same room will make it hard to breath and swell my eyes shut. Thank you airlines for using common sense!
You would make a killing. So many ppl words be able to take their livestock and pets without worrying about going against airline policies. I would enjoy being a flight attendant with lots of animals to pet!
More and more “emotional support” animals? Really?? How about maybe 40 years ago when people traveled, went shopping, went to A RESTAURANT without an “emotional support” pet? Were there really that many people back than with a latent burning desire to bring their pets EVERYWHERE they went?? Or were people not so dammed self-centered and insecure as they are today?? America is turning into a nation of complete wimps!
When I was stationed on a base in Darmstadt, Germany, a general had a peacock which lived outside. Someone told me it had chased him for no reason he could determine. Probably being territorial, but, yes, they can get aggressive.
I love animals but I am glad there are becoming strict with the animal policies. People are abusing this privilege and are putting legit service animals in a bad spot for people that really need them. You won’t believe how many people bring their dogs where I work and half of them are unleashed. There needs to be the same guide lines for these emotional service pets as they are for disabled service pets.
Yeah. I have an ESA myself (she is a chicken. Yes, I know, odd choice, but I raised her from an egg and she is my best friend so she is best for the job) and I spent MONTHS training her so that she woupdnt be a nuisance on planes or at my apartment. She is fully leashed trained, is fine with people/other animals, is diaper trained (bc chickens dont have control of that stuff), and can be held for up to 5 hours at a time before she gets a little restless. I feel like there needs to be basic standards like I listed above for ESA's, it would make it a lot easier to deal with them on flights and such.
I could see exotic animals but, if someone has an ESA that's a: cat, dog, smaller bird (on leash), or something like that, then I don't see the problem. I have no issues flying as much but, I'm working with my therapist to see if my cat can be my ESA since I have break downs and episodes that put me at risk of accidentally hurting myself. My cat even though he is young understands. On days where I break down school and get rushed home, he instantly runs to me and calms me down and won't leave my side till I'm 100% good.
The only animal that is allowed by law to go with an owner on airplanes is a qualified support animal. Generally these are dogs and their owners are disabled. These support animals are highly trained and do not cause problems. The law is under ADA and a Federal law. Emotional support animals are not trained like service dogs and are not safe to be with other passengers. They are the animals that relieve themselves whenever the feel like it, wherever they are, bark, cause a ruckus,, etc. They need to go in the cargo hold. Behavior says it all.
People shouldn't be allowed to bring their pets in the cabin of regular flights. Who wants to put up with people that are emotionally fragile and need the support of an animal to make it to their destination. These people need to stay home or travel by car.
If you you have your miniature horse on the plane and you hit turbulence that might be a slight problem. However, my emotional support shunk wouldn't be a problem at all.
The problem is not to give the monkey water but to get the cup back is the problem. America government is really good at testing the citizens stupidity and the Americans never fail to represent
It's good. Peacock's screams are over 70 decibels. So once you've made the flight, just go to the airline and ask for your money back. There is often a loophole in the contracts that reimburses you for the entire flight.
The more I look into this whole Emotional Support Animal thing, the more I notice that even people who outright claim that they absolutely need to take their animal everywhere they go are coming across like they're going "HA HA! I GET TO TAKE MY PET TO PLACES ANIMALS AREN'T NORMALLY ALLOWED AND YOU CAN'T! NEENER, NEENER, NEENER!" The amount of people who moan that they simply can't cope without their pet with them at all times, and have to take them to restaurants, shopping centres, airplanes, and places where animals are genuinely not allowed, it just shows that you're weak willed and can't handle reality!
Good! I'm glad they have been banned. I am highly allergic to pet hair and dander from dogs and cats. They banned smoking because it harms people so why not dogs and cats etc? They also carry unseen diseases. What's to stop everyone calling their animal and ESA and planes becoming full of animals. In the UK, all animals must travel in the heated hold in a pet carrier.
You must have a really tough time going anywhere in public. Over half of Americans have dogs and/or cats. Even if the animal is at home, their dander is on their human.
I'm all for people having disability rights. I'm disabled myself. But a peacock? That's carrying it too far! She probably couldn't find someone to care for it while she was gone.
APPLAUDS THE NEW POLICY CHANGES, WHY IN SAM HECK DID THEY EVER PERMIT IT IN THE FIRST PLACE? IF YOU'RE TOO ANXIOUS TO TRAVEL WITHOUT YOUR PET, THEN DON'T FLY.
That’s just inconsiderate of others. Ffs. It’s going to come to every support or working dog needing a certification. I know right now u can only “ask” if it’s a support animal but with so many fakes abusing the system there will come a change soon.
THESE PEOPLE DON'T NEED A SUPPORT ANIMAL, THEY EITHER NEED A SHRINK, OR MEDICATION, OR A REAL CHILD OR SPOUSE. COME ON PEOPLE, THIS IS INSANE. CAN'T YOU SEE IT?
If you need emotional support boarding a plane, maybe you should stay home with your pet…or drive. I will never understand people who have to bring their pets everywhere.
Sad that a peacock wasn't able to board but a turkey was ok... I know a peacock could be more dangerous, but it seemed pretty well-trained. Didn't seem agressive, wasn't walking around or being noisy...
The problem is that it's actually dangerous for flightless birds to fly on an airplane. Idk why, but apparently can cause brain damage or something, or can make them go deaf or whatever.
@@nyanco112there’s a huge difference between a service dog and an ESA. Emotional support animals require zero training to get their qualification, while service animals require extensive training to ensure they’re ready to do their jobs and not be a danger to the public.

Then you don't fly, because esa and service dogs are allowed to fly.
Well, they can plead their concerns to the airline, and whoever acts the whiniest will win. That's apparently how the world works these days.

Emotional support animals are not allowed in public, they have no public access rights.
I think it’s more of an ego thing, like “you brought a dog on a plane, lame. I brought a peacock”. Basically it’s a competition to them.
Peacock will attack you if it food in you hand. Airline's knew what they were doing
When I was stationed on a base in Darmstadt, Germany, a general had a peacock which lived outside. Someone told me it had chased him for no reason he could determine. Probably being territorial, but, yes, they can get aggressive.
And they're not small, either. I'm thinking they're about as tall as a turkey, but with bit slimmer build.

There is a difference between service animals as esa’s. An esa doesn’t need to be trained as vigorously (or at all in some cases)
