Nice bike, but, geez, man, those were a couple of unsafe and silly moves at the intersections! Patience isn't just a virtue; it can also be a life saver.
I agree. WTF was that, a right turn and then a quick left. That's a sure way to get yourself into an accident, especially if there are cars coming. Don't try that in NYC.
Nice review looks fun, I had to laugh at your "salesmans nightmare" comment. My local sales rep said he sold one and bought a happy meal with the commission :(
+mizzouxc Apple also sells things to like half the country every year. And their employees are paid a low hourly wage. Not a livable commission income. Mostly young college students.
+mizzouxc Nobody says there's no profit in the business; but, the 390s are a profit free product in terms of sales. That said, a first service is very expensive and brings in $ through service.
Cal Moto I meant "Glad to see the 390 Duke is finally available state side"... I wasn't making some bad joke about slow video uploads.. Also I am not interested in the 390RC. But thanks for the info.
Cal Moto I think he's saying that you should not ride through intersections? Perhaps cross-country every time you need to turn or go a different direction?
I actually bought one here in India a few weeks ago. I'm glad you like it! Since it's manufactured here, I paid about $3500 including taxes and insurance for a year. Cant complain about that price, especially when considering that it comes with ABS and a slipper clutch. While it's not fast, it's way more than you need on the roads of Mumbai, and agile enough to dodge the crazy traffic.
Armand Asrani hey bro! It's just me or does the tail section looks different from the dukes in india ?!? And howz the performance of ur brand new duke ? are there any negative or some sort? Just wanted to know some user experience! (planning to buy one soon) :D
Stein Mark Sajeev There is a slight difference from what I can see. In India, we have a couple mandatory guards to prevent feet or clothing getting tangled up with the wheel. It's called a sari guard and it's basically a grill on the right rear side of the bike (usually women in India sit with both feet on one side when riding pillion because the traditional dress doesn't allow you to split your legs apart too far). I had the dealer remove this when I picked the bike up. Also, after the rear hugger, there is an additional mud guard over the top of the rear wheel that connects to the swingarm. I'm not sure if I'm going to remove that because I do plan on getting a tail tidy kit for it, and that might mean I'll have no protection from the rear wheel kicking up crap from the road straight onto my back. And finally, the bike also comes with these weird giant D shaped crash bars that apparently protect your legs in a crash. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I am definitely getting rid of those as well. They're way too ugly for me. I think it's perfect for the city. It's quick if you really wind it out, and very agile. The seating position is great for me (I'm 6'2 ~220lbs). The mirrors are functional as mentioned in the above video. I'd say the only negative about the bike is that it doesn't like low rpm at all. It "lugs"(?) like a mofo, so you will have to downshift if you want to accelerate at any sort of reasonable pace. Overall, It's a great starter bike. I'm not new to motorcycles, but imported motorcycles are pretty expensive here and this was BY FAR the best value I could get in my budget.
Vincent Snoeren I know the feeling all too well. The KTM is only cheaper here because it's manufactured here. All the other imported bikes are way more expensive. For example, the s1000rr is almost $50,000 here. It's only $17000 in the US
Man! This bike is an Absolute rocket out here in India! Considering the quality of roads and the traffic on road . 44 Horses feel like a lot more considering the bikes riding besides you are 200cc mills. This motor has absolutely shaken the entire market. KTM sure know how to play their cards well, they just bought themselves a World Market. Cheers and Congrats on your 390! Ride Hard.Ride Safe.
so strange to think that this is a large bike somewhere, when it's not uncommon to spot a 1800cc six cylinder Honda valkrie at the occasional bike show.
+TripleThreatKris Yeah i only own a KTM RC200 and 200 is a little great than normal cc in Nepal. 390 is also a like 200 and above that cc if you see on the road you are damn lucky!! 😁😁
I learnt to ride on the 125 version, and it was great fun, until you went up a hill. The 390 looks like it's got all the beans you'd need for a first bike :o)
I'm looking forward to buying one. KTM Australia has reduced the price to $6995 ride away for now. Salesmen here have told me these were worth approx. $9500 a few months back. And are selling real quick. No salesman so far is willing to do a lower price. Not even for cash.
+David Braun Unfortunately I have not. I was ready to buy visiting my local KTM dealer twice but I didn't go ahead because I now want a bigger CC naked bike. At the moment I am looking at the Suzuki GSR750 or Yamaha MT07HO.
Great review as always. I'm receiving my 2016 Duke 690 R in a few weeks. Two bikes in the shed now 😎 Man, you've attracted some serious no-life trolls in the comment section. Hope you just ignore those knuckle draggers.
my brother owns a duke rc 390 and I ride the duke 390 and we both love the bikes idk about the rc but my bike wheelies smoothly in second gear with a clutch wheelie
Okay so im wanting to get a street bike and need some opinions. Currently I race dirt bikes have experience on a Honda crf 150r, yamaha ttr 230, and husaberg fe 350. Im currently looking into getting a KTM rc or KTM duke but don't know if I should get a 125 or 390. help?
If you're in the States, the only machines available are 390s. That said, I've not ridden the smaller displacement bikes, so I really don't know what's best for me or you....good luck.
Looks like Livermore. Where did you grab this bike from? I've wanted to throw a leg over one to feel out riding position before I commit and wanted to find a place locally that has them in stock.
For someone with good/great credit, whats a ball park out the door price for this bike? Ive read some "horror stories" of some terrible pricing where the dealers just get you with fee after fee. That being said, what have you guys seen, and what should i look for? I only know of one ktm dealer here in las vegas. I dont want to be taken advantage of because of that.
WeblogTogether In CA you will pay sales tax, freight & set up fees, and registration. The freight & set up line item is discretionary and varies from dealer to dealer. This particular bike is a problem because there is no profit in it. The only way a dealer makes any money is to pad the F & S line. I would think $700ish is fair. So, in NV with no sales tax you should be in the $5900-6000 range. Just take your time and ask what the figures represent. Have fun.
Damn! So 6k before taxes?! Seems pretty steep. If thats the case maybe i can haggle for some gear to sweeten the deal or some options like sliders or something, not to mention some sort of warranty. I can see dollar signs rolling already.... le sigh.
duke 390 or cb500f/r? The cb500 are really nice bikes, I ride one with my instructor and although I've onldy ahd two sessions on it it's easy and veeeery friendly. The only problem is it's perhaps a bit too nice and friendly? the cb500f looks nice, but it doesn't have that rawness taht the ktm has. The only problem with the duke is hiow it is on the highway. I donæt believe it will be comfortable to use on the highway for long. Perhaps not longer than 1-2 hours? I want a fun bike. It doesnæt ahve to be the most sensibler bike because that is the honda, but I want a bike that brings out a smile every time I sit on it and that excited me and challenges me all the time, and for that I think the duke is better? What do you guys think? Please keep in mind I can only ride a2-specified bike and I donæt want to take up a loan for a bike and I yet have to buy all my riding gear ):.
Aadibass If you do short journeys and want fun go for the KTM, tho it'll cost more because of frequent services and valve clearance checks every time it goes in and it'll depreciate fast. I've gone for the Honda. Good all round bike, still an upright riding position, much better mpg and low down weight make it easy to manouvre and can turn its hand at commuting or going distance and longer service intervals and infrequent valve clearance checks and better resale value.
urbanfireblade Thank you so much! That's the best answer Iæve gotten so far. But the Honda is a lot more expensive than the Duke.. Tbh I've been thinking about supermoto's but the one's i've found so far have been rather expensive. But a used supermoto from aroudn 2007 could be interesting. I know a lot of vloggers are crazy about them and they should work for some commuting on the highway too? I donøt think neither of the mentioned bikes will be very comfortable on the highway as none of them protects you from the wind. But when it comes to price the duke seems like a really good choice. Especially a used 2013 model.
sarath chelsea That's what attracts me about it: the fact that it's a little more reckless and wants you ahve fun with it. It's meant to be driven livily and and played with. But I will commute to my university which is 70-80 km away with literally every single km being on the highway. Can the bike do 120-130 km/h for a longer amount of times withouth become irritating due to vibrations/noise? I'm aware of it vibrating more than other bikes due to it's one cylinder engine, but it has to bee good enough at these things. I can live with it noe tbeing the best at it, but this is what I will use the bike for in the mc-season and it has to deal with it. The other thing is fuel efficiency. The Honda is getting praised from everywhere because of it's fuel efficiency and although it looks really good and is super easy to ride it just doesn't seem like as much fun as the 390. I guess I wonæt get these answered figured out until I get my licence and can test the bikes (:.
Aadibass i own duke 390 2015 model trust me brother there will be no vibration in those speeds but there will be wind blast , its a naked bike u have to get used ti the wind blast and about the fuel efficiency thats up to u .. if u ride the bike hard you will get around 25km/l and if u dont you will get around 30-32 km/l if you want comfort go CBR but If you want FUN GO KTM
No:( That said, I think you'd really be better served by the 690 Duke. I hope to bump into you out at Carnegie, I'm out there a couple of times a week.
hey Calmoto, no worries, i will try to hook up with you at Carnegie sometime, that would be fun ! i will synch up with you in your sales office to discuss bike options cheers mate, and waiting to see your next video
We have a 2015 690 Duke on our used floor at the moment. It's set up well, low miles, and is very clean. I'm not trying to sell you; my point is that the bike can be ridden and you might want to take advantage to record a video on a bike that's difficult to find a demo ride on. Plus, you'll enjoy it! Hope to meet you soon.
Vykier not really. All are over priced in same proportion or worst. For 5000. Dollars you get a honda cbx 250. A liter bike are about 30.000 a normal good office salary are about 1000 per month
WeblogTogether It's a few hundred dollars high. The dealer dumped his/her freight and set up fees a bit so that the salesman could actually get paid and still leave a couple hundred in profit. At list price there is zero margin in the 390s. If you like your local dealer, support them; if not; shop their asses:)
Not poor at all and very happy where i live now on a beautiful gated golf course community in Patterson out on the country side with great quiet roads to ride on so i sold my old piece of crap house in Livermore for 780k and got this even bigger brand new house for 295k and i deal with less dumb people on the road. Anyways was just thinking about getting my 2nd bike and was looking at the KTM Duke 690 and maybe getting my girl friend the 390 trying to work my way up to the KTM SuperDuke 1290 R that thing looks FUN!
That bike seems very cool. Just so you know, that move you are doing at the intersection is running the red light. You may as well proceed straight thru the light since if a cop saw you he would consider it the same thing as running the light.
Two lights in a row? I don't think so. Not a smart - or safe - way to get across the street. I know in most places you can make a right turn on a red but what you did was not only illegal but unsafe. Take it from me. I've been riding for a while and I have never seen anyone pull a move like that.
That might be okay for you but not for someone who is new to riding a motorcycle. You know there are kids out there who want to ride and if they see you doing it they'll think it's okay to do it also. That could get them hurt or worse, killed.
I have owned three liter bikes and I can honestly say I have more fun on something really light, nimble, and has just enough power for you to use every bit of it during a ride. I mean with the CBR1000RR I had 180hp and I probably only used 40-50hp on most rides.
+NZunboxing a minor correction we do get ABS and the Slipper Clutch here for the same $3500 price on the D390. What I want to know is we have a major heat buildup in traffic, any changes to the fan design to push the heat away over there?
+Cal Moto agreeed. Have you ridden the 690 duke? Im only 5'9" so im having trouble finding a bike that has a low seat hight. Taller Bikes just arent comfortable to me.
I hate how americans refer to these type of motorcyles as something for teenagers and "young riders". Nothing like patronizing anyone who considers this a real bike...
This guy is just crossing red lights like they weren't even there. So to every young man who's parents do not allow him to drive 'cause there's people who die or have accidents on motorcycles, now you know which bahavior causes it.
Lol yes it dose . But my grammar will not get someone killed . It will only piss off grammar Nazis with small wieners > Lmao . Cheers mate be safe out their .
Nice bike, but, geez, man, those were a couple of unsafe and silly moves at the intersections! Patience isn't just a virtue; it can also be a life saver.

Say thank God you're alive,
You do not know how to ride.
But the explanation for the Motorcycle was great .
Thank you.

You ride a motorbike like a mad mad... Riding through intersections all over the place? What is with that?
spiderpug I don't understand the question.
Cal Moto I think he's saying that you should not ride through intersections? Perhaps cross-country every time you need to turn or go a different direction?
Bulletstop75 Hehe:)
Just getting on with it.

in 2023 should i buy a used 2016 duke 390 with 12k miles for 2.2k??
Did you buy it? I'm looking to do the same but for 3.3k
I learnt to ride on the 125 version, and it was great fun, until you went up a hill. The 390 looks like it's got all the beans you'd need for a first bike :o)
I love this bike! I think this will be my next bike.
Cool shit brother, Just bought the 2015 390 for only $3,800 362 miles on it.
ripping around town.
4500 5 years ago literally bought a used one with 890 miles for 4700 yesterday hahaha. Glad it held its value great fun absolutely love mind
Those U --> right turns are slick
Looks like a lot of fun. Good starter bike, too.
Amazing, reviews. Subscribed**
+William Davenport Thanks.....cheers!
Good review not much more you could say really. A good fun bike that is cheap to buy and run. Ride safe
another great video, do you have the new 2017 duke available ?
They should be here directly.
Just bought one. Looking forward to riding it
I just reviewed this bike too - Loved it. fun little beast!
Is that off of 580 in Livermore??
Thinking of getting this bike to commute in during the summer from Brentwood to sf ~60 miles
Cesar Morfin Livermore it is:)
I'm looking forward to buying one. KTM Australia has reduced the price to $6995 ride away for now. Salesmen here have told me these were worth approx. $9500 a few months back. And are selling real quick. No salesman so far is willing to do a lower price. Not even for cash.

Ahh ok. Good luck with your purchase and have fun with whatever you buy! :)
Sweet little bike. Where were they when I started riding? I had a crappy Ninja 250 haha.
KTM had me when you smoked that Ford Ranger!
+Patrick Allen Boom!
+Cal Moto Wow big man picking on Fords again.
+Patrick Allen Yeah, great reason to buy a bike.Bozo.
I don't have anything against Fords. I do have a problem with stupid people can't interpret the most basic jokes.
The joke's on YOU bozo.
Another great vid. is that a shift light? I would love to ring that bikes neck for a couple hours around town. can i request a 1190 adventure review?
+jap338kx Thank you sir! You can find the 1190 review under "suburban adventure poaching".
Great review as always. I'm receiving my 2016 Duke 690 R in a few weeks. Two bikes in the shed now 😎
Man, you've attracted some serious no-life trolls in the comment section. Hope you just ignore those knuckle draggers.
Congrats...enjoy!
my brother owns a duke rc 390 and I ride the duke 390 and we both love the bikes idk about the rc but my bike wheelies smoothly in second gear with a clutch wheelie
what does the red light mean on the indicator? when to shift gears...?
Clutch in

we just got the KTM RC125 here. and I'm super short so thats my main problem
What's the height difference? I'd work on adjusting the seat and suspension if I thought the 390 was a better bike for me.
Looks like Livermore. Where did you grab this bike from? I've wanted to throw a leg over one to feel out riding position before I commit and wanted to find a place locally that has them in stock.
Chris Malone Livermore KTM. The 390 Dukes are all gone already. They do have a 390 RC demo:)
my 2015 model comes with metzilar I guess yours comes with pirrelli is that right ??
sarath chelsea The RC fur sure has Pirrelli; I can't remember if the Duke did....probably.
+Cal Moto My older 2014 model duke had metzelers , the 2015 had pirelli tyres.
cal moto do u kno if the bmw g310r is coming to the US? im lookin forward to your review on it l0l
+gonzalo castro You bet it is; I can't wait!
What do think of the Royal Enfield 500cc
I like the way they look; I've never ridden one.

Nice review.. I own a Duke 390 here in India 👍 btw what tires u get there as stock in the 390?
Pirellis
+Full Metal jacket 88 here in India we get metzelar
+naveen kum we get Pirelli Diablo Rosso in Colombia

Priced less than $3500 in India (2016 model) ;) Making costs are amazingly frugal on the pocket.
3500 but you have to drive it in that shithole
u$s 10,000 in Argentina
Mariano Gaston Oh mannn 10k??! Probably get a proper midsize bike at that cost.
Vykier not really. All are over priced in same proportion or worst. For 5000. Dollars you get a honda cbx 250. A liter bike are about 30.000 a normal good office salary are about 1000 per month

Stopped in the dealer a couple days ago. They quoted me 6750 otd... thoughts? I think a little too steep.
WeblogTogether It's a few hundred dollars high. The dealer dumped his/her freight and set up fees a bit so that the salesman could actually get paid and still leave a couple hundred in profit. At list price there is zero margin in the 390s. If you like your local dealer, support them; if not; shop their asses:)
what's max weight limit
How would this handle 65-70 highway cruising?
+orckiller91 Easy & fun.
What's the blinking red light for?
it shows You it is about time to change gear
Mph speed ?
what is the difference between 2015 and 2016
+c. remark I believe they're identical.
is your speedometer in miles per second???
+master saleem ki ho gaya com khan it is
what is ur speed on video? and what is max speed on 390 duke? :D
Top speed should be 110ish....I don't think I quite got there.
here in INDIA , the KTM duke 390 2015 they've added a slipper clutch, for the same price. isn't that amazing..
i want one but how do i find a dealer in the states?
Cycletrader.com
in Turkey the Duke 390 costs $6666.00 (17900.00TL)
So going perpendicular to the lanes isn't as illegal as crossing a red light. Interesting.
If you say so.
2:25 that was highly illegal but ive never seen such a thing and that actually was kind of clever
Try it, you'll like it:)
what is the top speed ? mph.
MR REFLEX 100 mph
Great review, but you pulled some jackass moves in traffic. Very unprofessional.
Corbin Thanks! I am a jackass, and nobody is paying me to ride.
Cal Moto Fair enough! Carry on.
Cal Moto So you're saying everyone should drive/ride as they please because most likely no one is paying them to do it?
José Lora Of course not, but they are anyway.
Hey your in my Home town of Livermore California lol so glad i got out of that over priced town.
It sucks if you're a poor dirt scratching beetle.
I'd love to live in those hills near Patterson. I just don't want to drive from Patterson to San Jose every day.
I will buy this bike ,tank is just a little smaller , 10 liters is fairly low
+George Mys Duke has 11ltrs the RC has 10 ltrs
That's still too small. Most bikes of this size are usually 15 - 18 liters.
Starting to feel more hooligan like ,😂😂😂,,,,, awake vid man ,,ride safe
slipper clutch ?
For 2016.
That bike seems very cool. Just so you know, that move you are doing at the intersection is running the red light. You may as well proceed straight thru the light since if a cop saw you he would consider it the same thing as running the light.
+George C It's a malfunctioning light; therefore, it is to be treated as a stop sign.
Two lights in a row? I don't think so. Not a smart - or safe - way to get across the street. I know in most places you can make a right turn on a red but what you did was not only illegal but unsafe. Take it from me. I've been riding for a while and I have never seen anyone pull a move like that.
I'm an expert at riding the way I ride.
That might be okay for you but not for someone who is new to riding a motorcycle. You know there are kids out there who want to ride and if they see you doing it they'll think it's okay to do it also. That could get them hurt or worse, killed.
Have you been to rest of UA-cam? How about porn? Are you parenting and regulating all of that too?
im 6'5 will i fit on this bike ?
Oh Hell no. Go sit on one and see for yourself. They are tiny.
Can't decide Duke390 or RC390. Thanks for the good review.
turbo311 Go for the duke man! Lot better!
turbo311 Duke is lighter and more comfortable - unless you are on the racetrack the duke will be more fun and faster
Stein Mark Sajeev Why a lot better?
dlb83082 I can see that. It seems like a big Grom or small supermoto which would be a lot of fun.
I have owned three liter bikes and I can honestly say I have more fun on something really light, nimble, and has just enough power for you to use every bit of it during a ride. I mean with the CBR1000RR I had 180hp and I probably only used 40-50hp on most rides.
I love KTM :-)
and 2015 model comes with slipper clutch :D
Some local law enforcement should watch this video and ticket the rider for the rules broken. COME ON... you are setting a lousy example.
In Norway the duke 390 is about 8500 US dollars.
sjermtitter Yes, but you have a government and infrastructure that functions:)
In India is close to 3500 US dollars :)... Sweet deal
in New Zealand its around $5800 usd bit we get the abs included in all duke models unlike india so pretty sweet
+NZunboxing a minor correction we do get ABS and the Slipper Clutch here for the same $3500 price on the D390. What I want to know is we have a major heat buildup in traffic, any changes to the fan design to push the heat away over there?
You did say $4500.. Even if you somehow you said $4900, you stated the price is $4999. So, why not just say $5k lol? Good review though
He said 4500.. the 4999 was a mistake I'm assuming, OR he could have possibly have haggled down to 4500 from 4999.
lol "I could smoke a ford ranger on this!"
you pay in the Netherlands €5550 ($6264,78) :(
Uk £4,499
Vincent Snoeren RS555000 in nepal la!
+Vincent Snoeren INR 200000
+Vincent Snoeren Philippines P290,000 since 2013.
Great review. Terrible riding
Do you guys even know where ktm is from? ^^
+Simple Reviews Yes, i thougt that nobody knows it , normally if something is from austria, everybody thinks its from germany :) im from austria ^^
+Simple Reviews so dont call me german ^^
+Simple Reviews i dont know, but there are many people who think that there is no differnece between an austrian and german
You're totally right :D
+david 0412 same shit like when people from the United States call Mexican any other latin person, lol
You owned that ford ranger, Lol !
Great starter bike. Sounds like a bored hornet though.
i got to take a duke
$7000-$8000 where I live.
Over $11K where I live.
doesn't look like you ever opened it up and reved it to 11,000 rpm - that is where max power is
dlb83082 That's right.
dlb83082 its rev-limited to 8k, so thatd be pretty difficult.
I own one here in India. Yeah it great for the roads and traffic here. And I yes the limiter in India is 10500. 8000 for the first 1000km.
Mark Brankin You must have a defective one because it makes max power at 9500rpm - wiki that shit! Duke 390
As I said not over here. It's limited to 10500. Not the only duke 390 in India.
MORE THROTTLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha hahaha the rules feel small....starting to feel more hooligan like..hahaha
This bike would be perfect for a smaller, a woman, or a young new rider.
+OG Jabroni Or experts that like small bikes.
+Cal Moto agreeed. Have you ridden the 690 duke? Im only 5'9" so im having trouble finding a bike that has a low seat hight. Taller Bikes just arent comfortable to me.
+OG Jabroni I'm 5'9" as well and like the 690 Duke. I'm looking forward to riding the new and updated 2016 690 Duke.
I hate how americans refer to these type of motorcyles as something for teenagers and "young riders". Nothing like patronizing anyone who considers this a real bike...
+Andres Mogro My bad....I can be a dick at times:( I sell most of these bikes to experienced riders that want a something small and light.
guys if anyone has a duke and searces for what tires to put on you should go diablo rosso 2 they are sticky as fuck!
WTH at 2:57
A work around for a red light.
Good review but that red light BS stunt is why bikers get a bad name . That was dumb !!!!!!!!!
$12000 in Taiwan :)
You really need your license taken from you, holy shit.
I've been riding this way for decades and have never hit anyone, been hit by anyone, or hurt anyone. What the fuck do you know?
It doesn't take a genius to see that you drive like a fuckin idiot. Not to mention you probably broke ten different laws.
Get over it you busybody.
Cal Moto Good one. You've got a real talent there. Try not to kill anyone today, fuckin clod
I'm glad you're thinking about me; I don't think about you at all.
It's a full size grom
10000$ where i live
+Majd Dasoki but then again everything is overpriced here
+Majd Dasoki even the hookers?
cuzimaluzer777 indeed
+cuzimaluzer777 lol
3300 here ;)
Sounds like 250ccm
This guy is just crossing red lights like they weren't even there.
So to every young man who's parents do not allow him to drive 'cause there's people who die or have accidents on motorcycles, now you know which bahavior causes it.
made in austria
The other Austria;)
but the engine still made in austria (zylinder)
Correct.
@@calmoto9073 not correct...Made in India
for saying the word india you get an extra 50 views easily
India;)
Mrr picho
Wow! how does someone post such terrible riding in public? Especially on a video that new riders watch?
Gay lookin minibike....girls might like it
Yup , you ridding sucks mate !!!!!!!!!
You, and your grammar, suck.
