She was an unrated 7-year-old playing in a major international tournament. That takes guts. She ended up losing every game - 0/13 - but impressively she played every game. Most people would drop out if a tournament were going that badly, but she stuck with it. I'm sure she learned an enormous amount from the tournament.
She played in the Rapid tournament the next two days and did much better, scoring 2.5/11 with a performance of 1415. That means she has earned a Rapid rating. She is now a FIDE rated chess player. Many congratulations to her!

    • @RedSntDK
      @RedSntDK 12 годин тому +16

Thanks for pointing out the 1415 rating, I found a picture of her from the tournament holding a Ukrainian flag but couldn't find her as a Ukrainian player in the rankings. Apparently she played as a German player, no doubt with Ukrainians origins, perhaps due to the war.

Chess is a physical sport in that high-level players require stamina, energy, and stress management to endure long matches. Mental exertion during games increases metabolism, and physical fitness enhances focus, reduces fatigue, and improves performance under pressure.

She managed to get a completely equal position against a 2000+ rated titled player three times her age, and lost on time mainly due to lack of experience (I would assume). That´s bonkers. Hope she´ll be one of the rising next gen chess stars in 10ish years

I've been searching for someone to challenge my 9-year-old sister at chess. She regularly plays against AI on the hardest difficulty and wins so consistently that she now complains it’s too easy. What makes her exceptional is her unconventional style-she doesn’t rely on static strategies. Instead, her gameplay is complete chaos, filled with unpredictable moves that seem nonsensical at first but are designed to lure opponents into awkward, well-planned traps. As she puts it herself: "I don’t play chess; I create chess." below is a gameplay of hers:
Opponent (Black): A club-level player using the French Defense.
Sister (White): A mix of unorthodox moves and tactical traps.
    Game Example:
    e4 e6
    Qe2
A bizarre opening move, completely ignoring the standard development principles. The queen blocks the bishop and seems unnecessary so early, leaving Black puzzled.
    d3 d5
    f4?!
Instead of contesting the center, she plays an unusual pawn push. Black assumes she doesn’t understand opening principles and confidently grabs the center.
    Nf3 Nf6
    e5 Nfd7
Black retreats, following the typical French Defense strategy. However, White's seemingly aimless pawns start to form a dangerous wall.
    g3 c5
    Bh3!?
Developing the bishop behind the blocked e-pawn looks odd, but her intentions are becoming clearer. The g-pawn prepares for kingside activity, and the bishop eyes the h1-a8 diagonal. Black assumes this setup is harmless.
    O-O Nc6
    f5! exf5
The pawn sacrifice seems reckless, but it begins to open up dangerous attacking lines. Black, confident in their central control, captures without hesitation.
    Bxf5 Nb6
    Ng5!?
White's knight leaps forward into a seemingly premature attack. The move looks chaotic, as it leaves pieces exposed and underdeveloped. Black believes White is bluffing.
    e6! fxe6
This pawn thrust is devastating. Black captures, unaware of the storm brewing.
    Qh5+ Ke7
    Nxe6!? Bxe6
    Re1 Nd4
Black attempts to counterattack, assuming the worst is over. The board looks chaotic, but White's moves have been leading to this moment.
    Rxe6+! Nxe6
    Bg5+! Nxg5
    Qxg5+ Ke8
The seemingly random attacks with the queen and rook have stripped Black’s defenses entirely. The king is now exposed, and White’s pieces are perfectly coordinated.
    Re1+ Be7
    Qxg7 Rf8
    Qxh7
The queen casually picks up material while keeping the king under pressure. Black, utterly disoriented, realizes they are helpless against White's final attack.
    Qh5+ Rf7
    Be6
The bishop seals the deal. Black resigns, unable to stop mate in a few moves.

I may be overreacting, but it did concern me slightly the way she just let her clock run out. Perhaps she just froze? I just hope she's playing chess because she wants to and not because someone else is making her.
Kids that young often play openings easy to learn, e.g. Giuoco Piano or Colle System on White, not the Symmetrical English, which is very positional! She kept looking up and away as if she is used to someone prompting her as to what to play next.

Why did Anna Play only 3 games in the first round of the Rapid championship in the tournament and didn't play any games after? She wasn't even paired... What is going on?
