Thanks fot testing. It looks as bad as on my X-T5 with 4.10. Noticeable stepping, slow or no focus acquisition in certain situations, as if it doesn't use PDAF at all. I've tested it with xf 18 / 23mm f/1.4 LM WR and also the latest viltrox 27 and 75mm f/1.2. Regardless of the lens motor or AF-C settings in video, producing a smooth transition or smooth tracking focus when walking towards the camera is impossible. I've also recorded myself doing a slow walk towards the camera and back. The tracking is good (it always was), but it never keeps me in focus in a smooth way. It loses you and focuses back on you in a quick way when there is motion involved towards the camera. If anybody has a suggestion on what AF-C settings to use for video, please share. Thanks So far I am very disappointed with the latest update. I will do some more testing in the coming weeks, but might end up downgrading the firmware once again.
Still not using phase detection, even if the subject has good contrast, contrast detection doesn't work most of the time. Very disappointing. Anyway, that's a good test!
Im on firmware 3.00 should I update it to 3.10 or stick with the old one ? Do you see any improvements than the older firmware or did they just make it worse ?
@@paralleled4125 honestly nothing change...but I think I have to make more test for the eye tracking and face recognition. But if the AF works like that I don't think I'm gonna see something different
Honestly I don't understand how this AF works...it's totally random. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I mean..I prefer use it in manual focus because the aperture is too much jerky. Anyway both the lens and the camera have problems in my opinion
@@lb_projekt exactly this, it's random. Coming from v2.10 I don't see any improvement at all so far on my X-T5. Of course some will praise it coming from v4.0, that one was broken.
1. What is your AF-C Tracking Sensitivity setting? Quick or Locked On? This makes a VERY BIG difference in AF behaviour. 2. I tested Face/Eye Tracking feature like as if I am vlogging and it is much much much more stable in keeping the lock on my Face and/or Eyes especially in low light. I was using the XF 18-55. IMO the camera needs to have stable Tracking in order to Auto-Focus. I think the Tracking was improved a lot. AF will now depend on what sensitivity you have as I asked in question 1 and if your lens can deliver.
@@russell-xh7yn the tracking is the only thing that worked better than Sony but I don't really use it so I forgot to tested. Anyway I tried all the different settings in order to have the smoothest focus transition but they work all in the same ways. Both quick or locked on makes any difference! That's the reason why I say for me the main problem is the lens. And I haven't try the eye tracking because I don't use neither for my kind of videos but when I try with the previous firmware it was unuseful. It focuses everywhere except my face. But I will make other test for sure and thanks for the advices!
@@lb_projekt No problem bro, I'd like to see that test with Tracking too. Mainly becuase if you read the release notes of the update, Fujifilm states the following: "The AF algorithm has been partially revised to improve focusing accuracy and subject tracking performance" So improvement is not in "AF only" but also "subject tracking performance". And with testing on my X-S20, I can definitely say that Face and Eye Detect had greatly improved. Good luck and hope to see more videos!

@@JakeChambersOy I'm new to Fujifilm and I heard about the possibility to downgrade but do you know the procedure??
@@lb_projekt I've sent you a DM on IG with the instructions
@@JakeChambersOy thanks man! 🙂
I updated the XC20 and turned it on, and at first glance the focus by eyes is worse than I had on the XT3...

@@PotatoSoKawaii yes that's my thought about it... no phase detection and even contrast detection didn't work well

@ why on the xt3 the AF is so good? I saw another video where xt3 with older firmware is much better then the xh2s 🙄
Seems better for this use case. Agree?
